I moved from Mississauga to Buffalo, so no huge difference, really, but I still experienced a form of “culture shock”, even with small things.  Western NY doesn’t seem to believe in street lights.  There are some on larger roads, but side streets are pitch black and it’s awful trying to see anything.

Okay, I’m a little jealous.  I need to convince hubby to move south.  He lived in SC for like a year, before we had met, but come home (lucky for me!).  He always talks about moving back, and now that winter is upon us, it may be the perfect time.

I’ve only ever lived in SC so I couldn’t imagine having snow to deal with every morning. I know when I go up there next week I won’t know what to do lol. I did tell him I want a snow fight, snow angels and hot tea lol. We get snow here one time a year at most and it’s not even an inch and people freak out lol.

Best of luck to you both. South Carolina will be a culture shock for him lol I'm from the Toronto area moving to southern virginia 10 miles from the north Carolina border that is as far north as I could get a Raleigh girl to move.

Ha ha yea It will be completely different. He’s in Saint John, NB and showing me picture of snow while my boys are outside here playing in shorts and a T-shirt.

Best wishes!! It was a little over 2 years ago that I made the 8 hour drive to Montreal for the interview.  I was beyond nervous bc so much time and emotions had been invested in the process, but you know what, it was a breeze!

Just remind him to bring copies of everything.  And I mean everything.  They asked me for things that were not on the checklist including color copies of my passport biometrics page and the receipt for payment of the DS-160.  (Things may have changed since, but I like to be  over

    prepared)

Enjoy your holiday - not long now until your soon-to-be-hubby will be stateside with you, for good!!

We were going over everything again tonight and I said we need to make copies of every single thing just to be prepared. I would rather have to much instead of not enough. I love hearing about others being accepted before us. Gives me hope. I’m so nervous. I just want to hear we are approved and know we can get married!!

  4. Y'all I am so excited but so nervous! He drives to Montreal on Monday and will have his medical on Tuesday. Then flying here (it's cheaper than him staying in a hotel for a week in Montreal) to spend Thanksgiving with me, my children and my family. Then next Monday we fly to Montreal together for the interview. I can't believe we are finally at this point. It has been such a long wait. I'm grateful for this sight because everyone has been so helpful!  Prayers and good vibes sent our way please that the interview goes good. :)

Hi! I noticed you sent it around the same time I did. I sent it on Friday Oct. 19th. We received a confirmation email today saying that it was received by the Consulate and sent to the visa unit. Is yours alike?

We got the same thing today! Is yours from Montreal too? I’m wondering how long before we get packet 4. I’m excited but mostly nervous lol!

  7. We somehow got the case number and my receipt number mixed up. My fiancé emailed them everything but put the receipt number instead of the case number on the check list and the email subject line. It is to late to go scan another copy of the checklist. Can he rewrite another and take a picture of it and edit it so that it is clearly seen and resend with the correct case number or wait til Monday and scam another one in? Will this mess everything up for us?

Correct. I wrote "N/A" for the ones that didn't apply and checked the ones that did. Sign and date and scan :) The DS160 confirmation page will appear when you finish and submit it. Then you can save that as a PDF to attach to your email. The passport you just need the bio page. That's your packet 3!

Thank you so much! One more question....I keep reading people saying different things but once he emails Packet 3 today can we go ahead online and set up our interview? Do they give you a date or can you choose one that works best? Same with the medical?

You actually email the Montreal consulate the a scan of your checklist, the confirmation page of the DS160 which shows your information and your photo that you uploaded, and a copy of your passport. Then you wait for packet 4 which will be saying you're ready to schedule the interview. If you're going to the interview then don't bother mailing your fiancé all the documents. Make sure your "two recent photographs" are passport-style photos, and the proof of domicile can be your lease or other bills that come to your address. They're not too concerned about proof of domicile unless the US sponsor has been living outside the US for a while. Good luck! Don't forget the search box at the top of the visajourney page is your friend. If you have a question, chances are many people before you have too. :)

Does he need to check all of the items that apply to him on the check list.....sign it and then email that back? Not all apply like Canadian immigration documents, court record and military record? He wouldn’t have any of that.

  10. Ok my fiancé (in Canada) received packet 3. It says to make sure we have everything on the check list and he has to fill out D60 online. Are we to mail in everything on the check list or take it with us to the interview? I am filling out the I134 and gathering all of the documents needed (almost have everything needed). Do I need to mail all of this to him so that he can mail it to the consulate or can I take it up there when I go to the interview with him?

    List of everything I have....

    1. Intent to marry

    2. His and my birth certificate

    3. My Divorce Dicree

    4. His police record

    5. Signed affidavit of support I134 from me and my patents (they are cosposors)

           A. Letter from our work

           B. Pay stubs (all from this year)

           C. W2 from 2016 and 2017

           D. Bank statements this year

    6. Evidence of relationship

    7. Two recent photographs

    8. Evidence of petitioners domicile of US (what do I need for this one?)

Is this enough? Do I fill out an i864?

Sorry for so many questions I just want to get this all right!

    Packet 3: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pdf

And Packet 4 for reference also: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/03/Packet4-MTL.pdf

I feel like you are speeding right along!! I hope our process goes the same way hehe :)

It took 13 days from when we received an email from NVC. I am a nervous wreck!! Lol

  12. Y’all I am having the worst panic attack. My bank is being annoying saying they can’t give me a letter with what I need. I cannot find my w2 from 2017. I have every other one!!!! I have the letter from my employer and I can print off every pay check stub for 5 years. I have the paper work for when I filed my taxes for 2017 with turbo tax. My Dad is going to be my co sponsor and he has a letter from his employer and 2 years of w2s. Is this enough or do I need more? I’m sorry I have asked questions other places and I feel like I drive people crazy. We received packet 3 today and I’m just one big ball of nerves.

  13. Part 3: 8a and b

I own my home and car. Paying on both. What exactly do I put here? The total of what I owe for both?

I also make more right now than I did last year. Is it ok for me to put the total from my w2 last year and also send in pay stubs?

Part 3 section 38. What do I check here? What do I put for information about this?

If you haven't already dug these up, here are Packet 3 and Packet 4 so you can start getting familiar with what they are and what is on the checklists.

Of course, don't do anything listed on here until they actually send you stuff or you have your MTL #

We received the email with the MTL#. Does he need to go online now and fill out the ds-160 now or wait until we get something else?
