Yes my fiancé is Colombian and we had to show his prc to go through the panama embassy

I am a Venezuelan citizen living in Panama. I have been here 5 years on a Student Visa. The past year I met someone from the USA, we got engaged. We filed for a K1 Visa and we got approved from USCIS.

The NVC sent our case to the US Embassy here in Panama. We received notice from the Embassy in Panama that because I am not a permanent resident in Panama they could not process our K1 Visa. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey @dwilder and @Ninaav. Just wanted to let you know that our visa went issued on Thursday and we picked it up yesterday. We'll be flying out early Tuesday morning. Thank your both for all of the help you've provided during this journey! Now it's on to the next journey of AOS!

Congratulations!! 🍾🎉 be joining you all in aos in a few months!

Hi Nina! Not yet. The status moved out of AP and is now in Application Received. They received the medical information. They didn't send on that Friday as they said. They didn't send to the embassy until Thursday. The clinic said there was a problem with sending but didn't give any specific reason. Due to the high cost of flights we pushed our travel back until the 19th. Spring Break has caused flights to become very expensive the weekend of the 16th. I'm hoping we'll be able to get visa in hand before it's time for our flights.

Yes medical delayed us also. You should get it within a day or two of it changing to nonimmigrant on ceac.

Yes it feel good to be done with this part.

I'll be in Panama until the 16th. She gave her 15 day notice today at work so we'll looking to fly out on the 16th together.

We were nervous as well at first but the wait was so long it wore off.

Hi Steve did your fiancé get her visa yet are you all going to make the 15?

Hello. How is the interview in Panama? Basic or Hard?

Pretty basic from what I have heard they mostly wanted birth certificates passports and they did look st photos of our visits together and ask where we were how many times visited.

Hi @Ninaav and @dwilder. My fiancée passed her interview pending her medical exam. She completed the 2nd medical exam with the doctor this morning and that went well. We went over to the interview later in the afternoon. It started off rough. There were a lot K1 interviews and only 1 person taking paperwork. When we finally was called we were asked to get new set of passport photos. My fiancée face was a little turned to the side. Since neither of us had any cash on hand, she had to leave while I watched our son and took a new number putting us as the last ones for K1 interviews. She went down the road to an ATM to get cash and was then able to come back and use the photo booth in the Embassy to take a new set of pictures. Turning in the paperwork and the interview went much smoother! He asked how and when we met, when was our son born, if she traveled to the US and if she ever overstayed her stay past 6 months. He actually asked me questions as well. Where I lived and if I still live there? He looked at our pics and that was it. I offered our other proof of evidence of meeting but he just looked at the photos. Probably took about 15 mins for the interview itself. The doctor said she will send our medical to the embassy on Friday. We informed the guy performing the interview and he said they should have it by Monday or Tuesday. I'm guessing the visa will be ready about 8 days after they receive the medical.

Congratulations 🎉👏😁 so exciting! Hope she is coming soon! We are waiting until mid April because that is when I have off work!

Hello everyone, I am in panamá with k1 process. Your comments have been very helpful. I have a daughter 3 years old. She will go with me. Does She need a different doctor? I have my vaccines, but I do not have a médical record. Where can i get the vaccines again in Panama? Thanks

She needs to get them to get k2 visa can you go to her dr for the records? If you can’t get them she’ll have to get them all again any dr can give them getcyhem before you go for the medical it is more expensive there she will see the same doctor as you they only have one now

    Hi @Ninaav,

Any update on your Visa? My fiancée 2nd medical appt is the same day as the interview. I wonder if it would be possible for her to take the medical paperwork with her and give to the consulate or do they require the hospital to send only.

I believe hospital send only make sure she asks when they are sending it . It took them a week to send ours. Our status finally changed to nonimmigrant yesterday so should hear soon

     @SteVas All set!!

We we’re definitely nervous about the paperwork/passport not coming back in time, embassy says it takes 5-10 business days.  She got the email from the courier service at 3:30am, Thursday morning.  We we’re heading to San Blas so got a bit nervous, luckily they are open until 6pm on Saturdays, so don’t worry if you can’t make it during the working week (https://www.chavale.com/oficinas/)

POE was very simple compared to what I was expecting.  We flew into Tampa.  I asked the one guard if we could go through the line together since she was coming in on the K1 visa, she pointed and we both went in the visitors line.   The first immigration office was very nice, we explained she was coming in on the k1, he did the usual by scanning her finger prints then they took her into the office.  He told me I could get the luggage and wait around the corner.  She waited in the office for awhile, the next officer came in, she handed him the paper work and he only asked her 3 questions.  He asked, “Do you speak English?, Do you understand English?, Is your fiancé here?” then he brought her out to me and explained that he will be admitting her for 90 days, she has to marry me in that time, etc, then said to collect out luggage and find him again (way more security than usual at Tampa Airport and luggage took way longer than normal to get through).

After we got our luggage we went to him and he took us back in the immigration office / luggage inspection / xray area.  Didn’t take long, we basically just had to wait in line to xray all our luggage.  Then he gave us her passport, showed us the 90 day stamp, and gave us a printed copy of her I-94.

I asked him about applying for the social security card and her name change but he didn’t have any info on that.  He did tell me where the nearest immigration office is.

    Yayy welcome to the USA!

Interview has been scheduled for February 27th. The medical is scheduled for the 28th and 1st. Since there is only one center during the medical now, it's hard to get scheduled before your interview. My fiancée told me they were going to schedule her on March 8th, but the lady was able to find one sooner. Hopefully, they'll allow the interview to be conducted on the 27th. I'm just wondering how long it takes for them to send over the results to the embassy once done.

I will let you know how long it takes finishing up medical today.

I'm here until the 11th, really really hoping the paperwork comes back before then. They said they send something to Washington and have to wait for it to come back and that is the longest wait part.

Any news? We are still finishing up the medical

I think our fiance's met in line! We got approved too! Looks like it takes 5-10 business days to get the passport back.

Yeah they asked a ton of questions from the sound of it. She was in the room for over 30 min. They asked everything from what kind of food I like, my job, how we met, to what kind of car I drive. Wanted to know how many times we had traveled to visit eat other.

Glad this part is over with.

Congratulations he said he thought he saw her wasnt that many k1 there. What you eat 😱 you can tell us about Poe! How long are you there for?

My Fiancée went to Banco General to pay the $265 visa fee. They told her she needed to fill out a form in order to pay the fee. The person at the bank couldn't tell her what form though. Do you know what form they are talking about?

You need two copies of that form on us travel docs they keep one and give you one
