I have another question.  I see that we can check the status on the current processing times at USCIS.  How come it says currently reviewing applications from June.  It was last updated as of October 2017 so is it possible that they have been reviewing June's from October until now?  Is there another site you can recommend the current processing times?

If you check in the Case Filing and Progress Reports subforum, you can see threads from members who filed during various months. Looks like there are a handful of approvals from July filers, but most seem to be still waiting.

Are they asking me for further evidence of qualifying relationship AND to resolve their date of birth descrepancy?

Just the latter. You only need to send what they specifically ask for.

I do not have an answer for your other two questions, but would it not be simplest to bypass them both and just submit a copy of her passport instead?

  3. No, I would not.

I know several DACA recipients personally. They're wonderful, hard-working people and for most of them, the US is the only home they've ever known, having been brought over here at a median age of 6 years old. To maintain DACA status, they are required to jump through all kinds of hoops, maintain a clean record, get an education, etc etc. They are teachers, social workers, Ivy League graduates, spouses of US citizens, fathers, and mothers. They pay taxes and contribute to our economy. They're as American as you or I, and I believe their legal standing should be updated to reflect that.

Yes, the processing wait is excessive and frustrating, but the blame for that does not fall on other prospective immigrants. Furthermore, many of the politicians currently yelling about the perils of illegal immigration are really opposed to all kinds of immigration, and would be happy to make the K1 process, and others, much harder for all. Xenophobia is not a good foundation for public policy.

  4. Hello all!

First, my apologies if this is an obvious question or one that has been answered elsewhere. I spent the last hour or so searching this forum and Google but did not find anything.

I'm currently working as an expat in China and recently got engaged to my Chinese fiancé. I plan to move back to the U.S. after my current contract is finished (mid-summer) and have my fiancé move with me shortly thereafter--which is exciting and a bit logistically nerve-racking at the same time! As I am researching the requirements for, and preparing, my I-129F form, I realized that there is a lot of important correspondence that is only sent by physical mail. In the past, I have had trouble with mail being lost when sent from the US unless it was sent and tracked by an international shipper like FedEx or UPS, especially if the address is not printed in Chinese as well as English. It is also common for mail to be sent with a phone number, and the delivery person will call you before attempting delivery. I do not have a mailbox or the like in my apartment building, so I have most of my mail sent to my office address where there is always a receptionist available to receive delivers.

So, is there anything I should be aware of to minimize the chance of these documents getting lost in the mail? Would it be OK to list my work address as my mailing address? Should I list a friend's address in the US? List my residential address but provide the address in Chinese in the additional information section? Any insight would be much appreciated!

    Thank you!

Bonus question since you're here: is it OK if I do not put a street address and phone number in the 'Address in the United States Where Your Beneficiary Intends to Live' question, and clarify in additional information that I am planning to return to the U.S. in the summer and renting an apartment at that time?
