Update - it was the 24 month extension letter. The printer must have been almost out of ink because the letter is extremely faded and difficult to read in places. NOT pleased that they’d be so cavalier about such an important document, but not surprised, either.

I’m glad I saw you post this. I just filed at the beginning of this month, got my 24 month extension letter from YSC this past week, and thought the same exact thing! Parts of it are so fuzzy/blurry looking.

    Great.

Even if my ssn says 'valid for work only with DHS authorization'?

Like the other commenter said, you’ll be fine leaving it on there.

My ssn says that too, and I haven’t updated it due to covid and offices being closed. I was concerned it would cause problems so I called the social security office and they told me it does not impact me whatsoever and there’s no rush to change it at this time.

Hey guys, I'm planning to send our package next week and was wondering what shipping option you guys used. I'm trying to use USPS Priority mail. Did you guy use the small box or the envelop? I'm not sure if our package will be able to fit the envelop.

I used a priority mail flat rate medium box from USPS. My package didn’t fit any envelope so the employee suggested the box. Worked great!

    Hello guys,

USPS Tracking shows that USCIS received my package today, I posted yesterday. What are the timeliness i should expect? Do you think they will withdraw the check this week?

Welcome to the group! Check out this spreadsheet to see what has been happening over the past couple months in regards to timelines (and you can add yourself to it too): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vonQCJgs9HODO2Y1DdSs3HNyL_FRnMfenlIeDQAUpWg/edit?usp=sharing 😊

It seems like things are moving quickly for checks to be cashed and receiving initial texts from USCIS. Personally my ROC package was delivered Nov 3, my credit card was charged Nov 9, and I got my texts from USCIS on Nov 10th. However, others seemed to get theirs in 2 days - super quick!

  5. Your list looks good, just include an explanation of the situation. I see many people on here having far less evidence, so you've complied a great list so far of important joint items. You could also draw up a will, and also create a living will and a designation of health care surrogate (or whatever these two are referred to as in your state).

Do you have any cards addressed to both you and your partner? This is weaker evidence but I did include a Christmas Card sent to my husband and I and sent a photocopy of the outside of the envelope addressed to us, and the inside of the card.

  6. During my K1 process I visited my US fiancé for two weeks in August, and then I returned a couple weeks later at the end of September and stayed an entire month! The US border agents just wanted to see that I had a return flight booked and asked if I was still employed in my home country (I was still employed and brought a letter from my job to verify).

  7. I organized everything into a big stack with my credit card authorization on top, followed by the electronic notification sheet, my cover page, my I-751, copy of front and back of green card and then followed by all of my proof of relationship documents.

I sectioned my relationship proof into different sections and put tabs on the bottom of the sections to organize them (I.e. bills, insurance, house, car, etc.). If certain sections contained multi-page documents that needed to stay together, I paper clipped them. I organized the package according to how I detailed everything in my cover page. Then, I got a large binder clip (couldn’t find big enough ones in store, so I turned to Amazon) and secured the entire package together. Finally, I stuck it in a plain file folder just for extra protection during transport.

No fancy binders, no page protectors, no staples. My package was just under 250 pages and ended up getting sent in a USPS priority mail flat rate medium box.

  8. I used the credit card payment option for my I-751 last week! It was super convenient in the fact that I could see the pending charge immediately once USCIS was finally getting to my package, and I don’t mind the cash back rewards I get from using my credit card. The form to fill out for credit card payment was very simple to fill out.

For my K1 and AOS I had used a check for them, but now that I’ve used the credit card option, I prefer the credit payment option. I would double check on the USCIS website for how to write the check if you choose that option ☺️

I am a little confused on if certain things need to be sent. For example, it seems like some people send a copy of the marriage certificate and some don't, and some people send a copy of the U.S. citizen's ID (passport and/or license). Are any of these things actually required? And if not, any feedback about sending these things vs. not sending?

Btw I know a lot of people send copies of both driver's licenses to show the shared address so I am not referring to that instance - more wondering if the U.S. spouse needs to send any documents regarding identity.

I am also under the assumption that birth certificates are only required for any children, not for either spouse.

As of right now, the only identifying document we have in our packet is the copy of the green card.

I was confused why people were including things like a copy of the U.S. citizens passport as well - I researched it, and for the life of me could not find anything that said it was required.

I didn't send my U.S. spouse's passport, but I did send a photocopy of both our driver's license (for additional proof of residing at the same house) and I included a photocopy of our marriage certificate just for the sake of doing so - however, neither of these things were mentioned as a mandatory thing to submit from USCIS. I also didn't include either of our birth certificates.

I think some people include all of those things because at earlier points they were required to do so (i.e. during K1 & AOS) so they just stick it in their pile of evidence for ROC as well.
