  1. I had my biometrics done in November too but I wasn’t asked to redo them. Yesterday I received the notice in the mail about being approved and the notice mentioned that I might be asked to redo biometrics though (so I assume some people are asked to redo them?)

Then at midnight sharp my status changed to “card was mailed to me”. I haven’t gotten a notice from informed delivery yet that priority mail is coming my way but since it’s Labor Day on Monday I’m assuming I’ll receive it by Friday next week.

I have heard it’s pretty inconsistent how quickly you receive the GC (like EAD) 1-2 weeks after Interview seems normal.

I asked the same question to Tier 2, but he said he does not know which local office NBC contacted and he will not know until later when that local office accept the interview request for me.

I am in Los Angeles area.

I’m also in the LA area I’m assuming your field office is Chattsworth. My case has been “scheduling for interview” since November. Current wait time is 12-25 months I believe so it’ll be a while until we hear something I believe

  3. Hey everyone , I travelled on AP for the first time (to go home). Was there for 2 weeks. In and out from LAX.

I don’t know if this is normal but my experience was awful. They looked at my stuff and put my passport to the side and told me to take a seat and they would process me when everyone was done. I had to wait about 60min just for them to be done with the whole airplane. They then took me to the secondary interview room and I waited here for another hour or so. On the way to the room the officer was talking to me and saying that I needed to get my paperwork sorted ASAP. I told him that I was due for interview soon and I thought AP meant that traveling abroad was no problem. He said I needed a visa to get back in (isn’t that what I’m in the middle of doing???). I am honestly not understanding at all why.

In this secondary interview room I overheard conversations officers were having with people and there were people who tried to enter on expired green cards or people who tried to enter without ESTA etc. In the end after everything I was handed my passport back without any questions, just really casual like hey here’s your stuff, the end . The whole ordeal took almost 3 hours (!!!!). It should not be this hard especially when my stuff was all good to go in the end. My husband was so worried because I was not allowed to be on my phone so he didn’t even know why my plane had landed and I hadn’t been out yet.

Youll most likely be fine if you choose to use AP but be aware that you might be in for some bullshit while you try to come back.

Is the EAD/AP card sent with priority? How long did it take before you received your EAD after the status updated to card mailed?

I got the informed delivery notice first, and a couple hours later my status updated online. For some reason when it did update it said “updated 4 days ago”. For me it was:

1/2 approval notice Date (got the letter in the mail on 1/8)

1/8 informed delivery updated saying package from lees summit is coming

1/8 same day in afternoon online updates saying card was mailed to you 4 days ago

1/11 EAD combo card arrived in the mail

hey @shakeyy and @Mica711 looks like im getting my new ssn card today. informed delivery says its included in today's mail delivery.

@eunahlee92 wow finally, congratulations! i'm glad your issue has been sorted out. your card should be with you in less than a week.

Awesome im happy for you!! :)

    @eunahlee92 congrats !!! Finally !!!

oh i see, then you had to do your in person then. to be honest, like shakeyy, i am worried with this ssn-ead linking because they never have their act together and i am worried that the ssn will fall into the cracks somehow and then it will be a nightmare to fix. whereas, applying manually in person may necessitate a trip to the ss office but at least that part is up to us, in our control / schedule and something that we actually know what is going on!

Right I know what you mean. There was someone on here who said they received their SSN card one week after getting their EAD (who filed at the same time with that new form).  as usual USCIS has no predictable pattern :-/ either way a trip to the social office won’t hurt if you have the time !

Thats what im planning. Just apply in person. Calling hasn't been helpful at all. If I call USCIS, they tell me to call SSA.. if I call SSA, they tell me to call USCIS haha..

I'm adjusting from B2.. Really? Maybe other areas in florida. in Orlando, there seems to be a huge delay because I've looked at VJ timelines from Orlando, there are several still waiting for interview as far as Feb  2017 filers :( Although there are a  who had a fast turnover.

Yes, apply in person. I went last Thursday and already had the card in my hands on Tuesday. It comes from Baltimore so if you live on the east coast it’s even faster. I’d recommend making an appointment though. Waiting times are excruciatingly long !!!

    6/9/11 PD Date.

    5/19/14 Approved I-130.

    10/4/17 Receipt Date for I-485 and I-765.

    10/11/17 NOA.

    11/6/17 Bio completed.

I still don't have an EAD

Should I raise a SR and what should I write in it?

I would just call and ask them to make an inquiry on why it’s taking so unusually long . You can ask T2 they usually have more info.

  9. Hey guys I received my EAD/AP combo card today so I’m gonna book a visit home soon. Has anyone travelled on it yet? What kind of information could make them deny you entry (since they’re saying in the info part that it doesn’t guarantee reentry)?

Already went to the Social Security office to apply for a SSN. wait time was ridiculous but once it was my turn they needed passport, birth certificate (no translation needed) and EAD card. They card should be mailed within 2 weeks but most people get it 3-5 days.

I saw some people having problems with the whole maiden name/new married name issue. I applied with my maiden name to avoid this problem but I want to change my last name too... when’s the best time? After greencard is issued?

I woke up to 4 texts from USCIS today. That's the first time I have gotten text updates since the NOA1s.

They were all for the I-765 and on the website it says "Card was mailed to me" dated January 4th.

I woke up to exactly the same. Online tracker finally updated, and now it says that it had been updated 4 days ago. That’s strange since I check every day and it definitely still said “case was received” until yesterday for EAD

    Congratulations! :)

If the letter is dated 1/2 ...did it not show up on informed delivery?

    Also, are you K1-Visa?

    Thank you! :)

It did show up, today ! I only get informed delivery on the day that the letters arrive, so this morning I did get the notification about my approval notice. In the afternoon I got an email with the tracking for a first class “package” from Lees Summit that is supposed to be here by Wednesday. Until today I didn’t get anything even though the notice seemed to have mailed on 1/2.

I am not K1. I’m adjusting from VWP (ESTA). It seems like most K1 people got theirs first, so I’m happy that mine finally made it ! What visa are you adjusting from?

  12. I received my approval notice for EAD/AP today!!! God, finally. Notice is dated 1/2, which would make it 92 days.

also just got the notification of a first class mail item from Lees Summit so that must be my combo card. Yay!!!

online never updated by the way, and even though I called that same day to raise a SR, T1 didn’t know that I was approved. Online also is and stayed the same this whole time.

    10/4/17 receipt date.

    Do SR?

You should def do one but you might not hear anything back right away.

Going on 98 days now. First SR told me that it’s still under review and to wait. Second SR i put on January 2 and when I checked earlier still hasn’t been assigned to officer. I’m gonna try calling T2 again tomorrow to see  why it’s taking them so long. I have a family function to attend on February 10 back home so I really need AP. Best of luck with your SR! It’s worth a shot ...

I wouldn't trust the tracker. It's been over 2 months/ well after biometrics and it's still saying my receipt number is invalid/not registered (taken at NBC). I'm going to laugh if I get my green card appointment letter before it's ever updated. I called and she said not to call back unless it's been over the 90 day timeframe they set for the EAD. Seems like they've dropped the ball on keeping up for a lot of people.

Yes!!! Day 95 and no update on any of my things , but when I spoke with a T2 officer i was told that I’m already being assigned for interview. Very strange. Never got my EAD either.

I'm half way giving up haha I was gonna go back to Korea this winter break but I only have about 3 weeks till school starts....

When you raised for expedite , did you do on USCIS website? because I didn't see any service request saying "expedite"

Ugh I feel your pain. I’m supposed to go to a wedding in February in Japan too but there’s no telling with this visa business !!

no, I called customer service and asked for the request. :)
