My suggestion would be to get vaccinated ASAP and make sure you get COVISHIELD, and not that covaxin #######.

Yeah best not to delay it any further now that I know covishield is accepted. Any further delays would only stretch out the issue further. I just hope they accept the Indian dose 1 vaccine certificate and give me one less shot of pfizer or moderna.

If you have already sent your passport with updated medical, you'll have your visa within a week. Maybe in 5-6 days

So should I reschedule my vax appointment to next week? See if the CEAC status changes and if I get the passport back, I'll just immigrate by the end of the month and get my shots over there. It would be much simpler than having a mix of multiple vaccines in my body.

Regarding your vaccine status : I'd advise you to get the Visa first. I'm sure there will be exemptions for people who do not have the access to approved vaccines.

I have an appointment with the vax center tomorrow. I'm going to get it done. How fast do you think they'll stamp my visa now that they have my updated medicals and passport? I hope I can be on a plane before the end of this month so I don't have to wait 12 weeks to get my second dose.

You mentioned that Astra Zeneca has a 12-week period between shots, and that the Moderna supply was quickly exhausted. Is there any chance a new shipment of Moderna could arrive within those 12 weeks as to justify waiting? We're nearing November so we'll have answers soon; obviously I'm not the most qualified to talk about this, but you definitely should be aware of all the factors at play here.

Forget what I said in my previous reply. Recent news show that India won't be buying anymore Pfizer or Moderna since the locally made vaccines are cheaper and easier to store and transport. Also India won't give legal immunity to pfizer and moderna for vaccine side effects so they are not willing to sell anymore doses too.

The news media is full of rumors of India getting shipments of Pfizer, Moderna and J&J but none have materialized so far.  I am hoping that they will stamp my visa soon and I can immigrate by the end of this month.

P.S. how the hell did you manage to make a VAC appointment for passport Submition lol. I got my second 221G in the last week of September and I can't find an appointment. It keeps on showing "currently no appointment available."

I had my interview cancelled January 2020. Then after the lockdowns I had my interview on the January of 2021 and got served with a 221g for missing documents (2021 tax transcript and additional relationship proof). Then further lockdowns and I was given a date to submit the missing documents June of this year. Then my medicals expired and they requested updated medicals last month and got an appointment to submit the documents on the 6th. My case has been going on for 2 years now ever since my file reached the embassy. lol. Endless bureaucracy.

Of course the covid vaccination requirement that is allegedly coming into effect in November for all travelers to the US is a different story and I sincerely hope they will include an exemption for immigrants from countries where an approved vaccine is not available.

That is what I am afraid of. Me taking the AstraZeneca that USA doesn't recognize yet then having to be jabbed again with shots that they require. India's AstraZeneca is not recognized by the UK even though it's the same formulation made under license with a new name.

I presume you have no access to Johnson/Janssen?

No we don't have access to it here. There was a brief shipment of moderna but it was exhausted instantly. Our three choices are the Astra Zeneca, Covaxin, which is an Indian homebrew vaccine and Sputnik. If countries have to agree on an international vaccine passport system to reopen air travel, I don't know how this non-recognition of certain vaccines for political reasons is gonna do well within the system. Total clusterfook.

Facebook whistleblower accuses company of 'tearing our societies apart'

Documents revealed that Facebook's own internal research showed that the company knew some of its products were harming the mental health of some of its users, most notably teen girls.

"Facebook's own research says, as these young women begin to consume this eating disorder content, they get more and more depressed. And it actually makes them use [Instagram] more," Haugen said.

Haugen said that Facebook placed profit above the well-being of those harmed.

"Facebook has realized that if they change the algorithm to be safer, people will spend less time on the site, they'll click on less ads, they'll make less money," she said. "Facebook, over and over again, has shown it chooses profit over safety."

Well according to that article 88% of eligible Vermont residents are vaccinated.  It states that 76% of the deaths, come from this pool of 88% of the population.  That means that the 12% of eligible Vermont residents who are not vaccinated accounted for 22% of the deaths.  A PER CAPITA death rate nearly twice as high as the vaccinated population.

But what is even more notable about the article is that there were only 33 deaths in Vermont during the entire month of September.  Compare that to a state like Texas.  PER CAPITA Texas is having as many deaths every 4 or 5 days as Vermont has in a month.  It is entirely likely that even the unvaccinated population in Vermont is benefiting from less exposure to disease due to having such a high percentage of vaccinated neighbors.

The article does kind of make a good case for boosters though.  Perhaps many of the 33 that died could have been saved too if the had boosters.

People should just cut to the chase and complete the protocol of all three vax manufacturers. I heard it gives the best results.

The exact CDC order is yet to be released. When the WH is asked for any specific details they answer that they'll have more info when it gets closer to November: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/press-briefings/2021/10/04/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-october-4-2021/

Q    — the administration is looking at the CDC to guide which vaccines will be accepted.  Right now, the CDC says it considers “fully vaccinated” those who got Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, of course, but it also says that guidance can be applied to vaccines that have been listed by the World Health Organization.  Will there be any change to this guidance?  And — for example, the Russian vaccine, who is not in the WHO, will it be accepted?

MS. PSAKI:  I would point to the CDC.  As you know, we’re going to have an update on our international travel guidelines as we get closer to November.  Early November remains the timeline that we’re focused on, but I will leave it to our health experts to outline more specifics.

I have an appointment with the vx center to get covishield (AstraZeneca 12 weeks between shots) tomorrow. Do you think it would be better for me to wait till November cuz I can get the Russian vaccine which has a shorter time between doses (4 weeks) if the Sputnik one ends up being recognized by the CDC.

You had your interview already, correct?

If so, what does the USCIS case status say?

If none of the approved vaccines is available in your country, you'd receive a blanket waiver.

Case status still says 'refused under 221g'. Case last updated September 9. The CGI portal says my passport is being sent to post.

It isn't clear but I assume since your Panel Physician exam was before Oct. 1 you should be good in regards to the visa issuance. But starting "early November" it's still unclear who (*other than Americans) would have some leeway in regards to the CDC order for flights to the US: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/press-briefings/2021/09/20/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-september-20-2021/

Q    Yeah, just a technical thing on the international travel policy.  You talk about unvaccinated Americans; what about like green card holders, visa holders?  Would they — people who — you know, who under the current travel policy can get into the country, would they have to be vaccinated or would they have to do the testing protocol like Americans?

MS. PSAKI:  That’s a really good question.  I’ll have to ask what the specification is there for them.

Love how vague these government officials are. I'm hoping everything is fine. Thanks for the reply. I found this on some other thread here.

  11. Bumping my own thread. Would really like some veterans to weigh in on my dilemma and put my mind at ease. Should I just relax and see if my passport comes back with the visa stamped? The CGI document drop off guy said my passport will be returned to me in 7 to 10 days. Does that mean I get the visa or does that mean it can go both ways? Another worry is a scenario where I get the first dose AstraZeneca vaccine tomorrow, have my visa approved, I move to America, they don't recognize the first dose and I end up having to take a cocktail of another 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna. I don't wanna end up like the guy in this meme.

  12. I have done some more reading into this and it seems like the doctor would not have given me the sealed medical envelope if the Covid vaccine mandate was in effect when I had the test taken. It seems like the medical report cannot be completed without proof of complete vaccination. But since I submitted the 221g dropoff on October 6th, would the consular officer ask for yet another updated medical report? Exhausted with all these shenanigans.

  13. I received a 221g updated medical report submission letter in the mail on the 10th of September. I had the medical test done on the 16th of September. All went well and the doctor made me take the yearly flu shot and she asked me if I had taken the COVID vaccine before I was jabbed with the flu shot. I didn't get the vaccine cuz we don't have Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson in India. I was planning to get them after completing immigration. I made an appointment for 221g document submission and dropped off the updated medical report yesterday. (October 6th which is 5 days after the vaccine requirement clause kicked into effect beginning in the 1st of October). Will I receive another 221g request for an updated medical, this time asking me to show proof of covid vaccine completion in the medicals? We don't have any of the three US vaccines. We have the Indian version of AstraZeneca called Covishield which has a 12 week interval between the 2 doses.

  14. I had an interview with the US consulate in Mumbai on January 2021. Everything was fine except they required the 2020 tax transcripts. They retained my passport and they asked me to drop it off at the document drop off locations when my spouse sent a copy to me. It has finally arrived in her mail a week ago but now the cgi portal says I need a 221g pending document submission and follow-up IV interview. What does this mean now? Would I need a new medical checkup? How would I even be able to enter the embassy when I don't have a passport and last time I remembered, the hospital required a passport for the tests to be done. They also have both copies of my passport clearance certificate I got in November 2020. Would they even let me into the embassy if I schedule an appointment when it is possible? There are no appointments available now due to Covid lockdowns.

  15. Got our I-130 approved by USCIS New Delhi and received case number in an email from the US embassy in Mumbai on the 23rd of September 2019. Petitioner has gone back to the United States to get the necessary documents for affidavit of support and to establish proof of US Domicile. How long is our approved I-130 valid for? Filled out my DS-260 at  https://ceac.state.gov/ceac

I also created an account at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in but did not choose bio-metric/interview appointment dates.

    Hey,

I believe it is one year but you're better off posting it as a separate question and asking someone really knowledgeable on this. Hope things work out for you.

Hey Kuneesa we just completed our DS-260. Received an email requesting us to complete steps 4 to 6. Says we need to collect financial support documents and civil documents and then upload them to NVC  through e-mail if our case number starts with certain prefixes like AKD AMM BGH DMS GZO or through traditional mail otherwise. Ours starts with BMB. Did you get all these documents ready and upload them before being allowed to schedule an interview and bio metric/medical appointments?

    No problem!

I don't think they do any document checking before because if you're doing DCF, you submit your documentation during the Interview. Your packed will most likely come through the email and that will just be a link pointing to this address ( https://photos.state.gov/libraries/mumbai/1057584/senkx/BMB IV Packet 4 Oct 2015.pdf

Hope you get the mail with your case number soon. Cheers & goodluck!

Hey Kuneesa How long is the approved I-130 petition valid for? We just got our case number last week and we have to sponsor ourselves since our joint sponsor backed out. So my spouse has to go back and work for maybe 6 months to get payslips, letter of employment and other stuff to prove that she will be able to sponsor me herself.

Source for the quote above. https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/nation-world/verify-did-the-author-of-the-citizenship-clause-intend-to-leave-certain-people-out/95-610042411

We can VERIFY that the post, as written is correct. Sen. Howard did author the "Citizenship Clause" of the 14th Amendment, and when he presented it to Congress in 1866, he did say that statement.

It's important to note that while it’s possible the amendment’s original authors didn't intend for our current system of birthright citizenship, their intentions never made it into the text of the amendment.

The language as written in the Constitution is what courts have used to determine it's meaning over time and multiple court cases have set up a precedent of supporting birthright citizenship.

"Kim Ark was a United States citizen born to two Chinese immigrants living in the United States in the late 19th century. He left the country and was denied re-entry initially due to a law restricting Chinese immigration.

Kim Ark challenged the ruling and once at the Supreme Court, the Justices ruled that even though both his parents were foreigners, Kim Ark was born on U.S. soil and thus was a U.S. Citizen.

    In summary,

    1. Yes, this viral post is accurate - that’s VERIFIED.

    2. What Senator Howard may have intended was never written in the Constitution.

    3. The actual text has already been interpreted to allow birthright citizenship in Wong Kim Ark’s case and more."
