The physical address would be where he is right now (in the USA) regardless of what his "official" address back home is.
Good luck!

That sucks!
I think it varies from state to state though. I'm gonna try doing the same thing soon but with a learners permit.

Guys! Did my biometrics today in Detroit ASC.
I saw so many people coming in around 9.40 and I was almost sure there had to be somethine else happening like a naturalization ceremony and I was right!
Hubby was amazed at how many different people/nationalities were present. I felt such happiness for everyone as I know they are at the end of their (visa) journey.
Anyways, the room where they do the biometrics was practically empty, only one case before me and two workers so I was admitted right away and was out the door by 9.50 and my appointment was originally at 10!
Everyone was extremely nice so Michigan people, you're in luck!

My mailing and physical addresses are the same so my case is different but my bio appointment and my interview are probably gonna be at different offices. I just did my biometrics today in Detroit in an application service center (ASC) but according to USCIS website my field office is Cleveland as expected. We live about the same distance from both cities, but in Ohio.

It's funny you mentioned the biometrics appt photo.
My husband made sure to remind me to look good in my biometrics appt photo, because when he did his biometrics for his N-400, he just came from the gym and looking, well, like he just came from the gym. Haha! All along he thought USCIS will use the photo he sent with his application, but of course they didn't and only found out when he already have the naturalization certificate in hand. Oh man, he wasn't happy that's for sure. Haha! *poor thing* So yeah, to those who have upcoming biometrics appointment, don't do it after your gym sesh.
That's a good story!
I'm going tomorrow morning and I know I'm gonna hate my photo but oh well... They usually don't show up super clear on cards like that anyways...

You get your photo taken at the biometrics appointment and that photo is used on EAD/GC right? Not the one that is sent in the AOS package?
I remember reading something about it a while ago.
Not that it's a big deal but I hate the photos I sent.
-
Are you sure your mailing address is correct? Have you received your NOAs?
I don't know anything about your case but *most* AOS cases get the appointment roughly one month after filing.
-
If he doesn't know any additional information about you and only your name I doubt you'd be disqualified.

Found a couple successful stories in here, not exactly for Cleveland office though:
Thank you for taking the time and checking for similar cases!
Hubby convinced me that it's not a big deal and we can easily drive to Detroit and it's pretty much the same drive for us.

RFE?
Biometrics appointment.

Hmmm haven't thought about that!
But since it's a completely different office I'm kind of hesitant to even try but I might.
Has anyone do it?
I've seen people with close to my timelines get their letters these last few days and mine was here like clockwork so I'm sure you'll get yours in the same timeframe!
-
You can put N/A instead of leaving them blank if you want.
I actually left a lot of mine blank and it hasn't been an issue so far.

So I did get my letter today, as expected.
But, they're sending me to Detroit instead of Cleveland.
Technically, it might be a few miles closer but I'm still pissed.
Why send me to another state instead of the city my husband is from?!?
Oh well... a trip to a place I've never been to.

Can anyone post a copy of the cover letter you sent, or a link to where a thorough checklist/cover letter is provided? I keep coming across thing I am missing to send, and its holding up from getting this out of our house and into the mail. Any help is GREATLY appreciated
That one was helpful for me! Obviously you might not need everything as this is for AOS from a J1 visa but can still be helpful with ideas for possible evidence. Doesn't have a cover letter but there are plenty of them on here. You can try searching on the website or with google by limiting search results to just this website.

@Madmax Congrats for getting your bio appointment! We have almost identical timelines so I hope I get mine tomorrow or on tuesday
-
They won't be of help until after 30 days or so have passed. Wait some more. I'm sure it will turn up in your mailbox very soon.
-
TearsOfBabylon above is correct as far as I know.
I did the same thing but with different visa.
-
In my mind it sounds logical for your appointment to be closer to your physical address. As obviously it means that is where you're actually residing. I hope it works out this way so it's easier for you. You can also try and contact USCIS for your peace of mind.
-
I'm still hoping I get my bio letter before Monday so I can do them while I'm in Cleveland *fingers crossed*
-
I received mine in a week but give it up to two.

Well you will get a letter with your biometrics appointment at about a month into the process. Nothing really happens, you just wait for USCIS to contact you if needed.
