  1. Alright, here's the basics.

You have to file I-130 + the supporting I130A and that's where you put all your evidence of bona fide marriage.

    You're also filing for adjustment of status so you file I-485 + I-765 + I-131 + I-864.

    I put 2 photos for 485, 765, 131 so 6 total.

Another copy of marriage certificate in 485 but no actual evidence.

Be very careful with the Affidavit of Support and make sure everything's correct.

Read all the instructions that come with the forms.

Triple check everything you type in the forms, I found a simple mistake I made the same morning I was supposed to mail everything out.

Good luck and update this thread if you have any questions.

Hello everyone, I'm happy to see other November filers here.

    I have a two concerns:

    1) The only notice I ever received from USCIS was the biometrics appointment notice. Was I supposed to receive a confirmation for my AOS, EAD and AP forms? Did you?

    2) I received texts and emails confirming that all my 3 aplications have been received. However, on my biometrics notice only my AOS and EAD are mentioned, not my Advance Parole. Is it normal because the EAD and the AP are on one document, or is this something I should address the USCIS about?

    Thank you.

    1. Most people get notices of action in the mail but since you got the texts you gave nothing to worry about.

    2. That's normal, exactly how mine was. :)

  3. Forms G-325 are no longer needed.

Read the instructions for both 130 and 485 very carefully.

All of my evidence is in my I-130 package, as per instructed.

I only included a copy of the marriage certificate in the I-485 and no issues so far.

I don't think you need to copy the blank pages of your passports, just those with visas and stamps.

Definitely list every employer on your employment history, even if you worked without authorization.

You don't need to provide any of your financial information as far as I know (W2, tax transcripts, etc)

  4. I feel like my medical is going to be on the more expensive side. :(

Since I had no intent of getting married when I came to the US this year I have no records of my vaccionations. I'll try and have my mom look for them back home, including at our family doctor and even at my old elementary school. They used to have records of them I think.

I'll probably have to get a bunch of shots and it's not something I'm looking forward to, I hate needles!

    Hi,

Just received my Biometrics appointment letter! Appointment is on 12/27/2017. Exactly a month after they received my case.

Can I go in earlier than the date? Does it make any difference?

I am asking because we might be heading towards a government shutdown before Christmas...  and I was wondering if you think AP/EAD could get processed a bit quicker.

    Cheers

Yes, you can. Depends on your office but most will let you do it earlier.

  6. That's super weird! That's how a lot of people are ensuring they get their GC in their married name - by simply typing it that way in the forms!

I don't really know what kind of evidence you can provide except for your marriage certificate which is legal proof of the change. But you already provided it... Oh, USCIS, what a mess. Maybe try calling them to clarify the situation.

  7. EADs are unfortunately taking longer right now. I did something similar and am doing my AOS from a temporary work visa as well. I knew I wouldn't be able to work and it is frustrating but oh well.

The thing with your case is that if he goes back, gets another H2B visa and enters the USA with the intent to AOS on this trip, it is considered visa fraud. I know this will give you time and he will be able to work but it is still fraud.

Your legal ways to go right now are either AOS now and wait for his EAD or if he goes back to his country, file for a CR1 visa - this way he'll be able to work as soon as he enters the US.

  8. This sounds kinda fishy to me. I believe in love and fairytales but I would advise you to be very, very careful.

Thee biggest red flag for me is how fast he's moving with the "I love you" and things like that.

If you do decide to pursue this, visit him at least a few times, propose you moving there and see his reaction.

Something's telling me he won't be happy.

  9. So I haven't been to the post office to check my mail in a week (we don't get mail at the house) and as I opened my PO box I saw the tiny letter from USCIS in between all the magazines and junk. The moment I saw the yellow paper inside I panicked lol

I was convinced it was a RFE for the I-864 as I feel that's the most common one. I had a couple more errands to do but when I finally opened it, it just informed me that I haven't sent I-693 and if I got an interview notice, I should just bring the results with me.

    Ah, the relief!

  11. Most biometrics letters state both 485 and 765 for people filing both of them together.

I guess they make mistakes sometimes and you might have to go to two appointments.

What I would do in that case is go to the earlier one (so you don't miss it) and then ask if you can do both at the same time; like you're doing a early walk in for the second appointment. But that can only work if you have both appointment letters before your first appointment. I really hope this makes sense to everyone and not just me lol
