Get copies of your whole initial package you sent to USCIS.
Then get copies of everything you can think of that relates to the both of you: marriage certificate, joint property, joint insurance, rental agreements, joint bank accounts/credit cards, evidence for any travels you guys did together, evidence for bookings or bills from your wedding if you had one.
-
You're right on question 2.
Your wife may make more than enough but if you can't prove it, USCIS can't confirm it.
We didn't obtain transcripts from IRS, just sent everything my husband had given to him by the person that did his taxes.
-
I'm curious if they're gonna accept your evidence this time around.
I would be really anxious sending the same exact thing when they obviously want to see something new.
Keep us updated!

Has anyone from around a received date of October 27th received the EAD yet? I'm seeing lots of October filers getting theirs, but we haven't received my husband's yet (He came here in August on a K1).
Thank you!!
Me!
Filed on that exact day, and got my EAD approved a couple days ago.
Hope you guys get it soon!

I think that he may change employers only after he gets his new work permit (based on marriage petition) or his green card.
If he's not looking into quitting anytime soon, he can wait until his green card is issued and not apply for a work permit.
Honestly, since it's free, I would apply for it anyways.

I don't think it would be a problem.
Don't forget to include your maiden name where it says "Other names used" or something like that.

File I485 before her legal stay expires.
You can bring the results from her medical exam at the interview, that's what I'm doing.
It's not a problem at all.

is there a non-k1 forum?
Yes.
Go to the top of the page and you'll see this.
Home>US Visa Holder and Permanent Resident Immigration Discussion>Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1and K3 Family Based Visa
You want to go back to the less specific forums, so click on "Home" or "US Visa Holder etc" so you can find the one that suits your situation better.

Haha, I see. Did you get your medical done?
The online case status used to contain the tracking number for my past EADs (from F-1), so I'm curious if they're not doing it anymore.
Oooh I'll check again, maybe I missed it.
I'm doing it on Monday and hopefully getting the results on Thursday.
Unfortunately, we couldn't due it earlier due to hubby's job.
If it's not ready in time, I guess I'll have to send it after the interview.
-
Well guys you are on a K1 forum so your timelines may vary slightly than those of people here.

Look forward to hearing your interview experience! Do you get USPS tracking number for the approved EAD and AP?
Not in the approval notices, no.
I can probably get the numbers by callin USCIS but see, I have a huge problem talking on the phone with strangers.
And I don't wanna make my husband call because he already called a bunch of civil surgeons for me.
I'm just gonna wait and check on my po box regularly.

Yes I believe EAD and AP are processed by the National Benefits Center in MO. Whereas local field offices process AOS applications.
Exactly!
I think that's why sometimes people get interviews first although it's rare or in my case, get both super close together haha.
-
It's common. They are ready to schedule your interview but the exact date depends on how busy your local office is.
EAD is processed in a separate facility.

@ kumar1234 I have the same issue as you. I am H1b spouse of an US citizen. What did you enter in the Q16 ?
Question 16: Go to part 2 of the instructions (see the second link above) and identify eligibility category (e.g. (a)(8), ©(17)(iii) etc)
Confusion: which category should I fill in? I looked at all the categories under "Family Based Non-immigrant Categories" but couldn't understand which one applies to me.
Thanks for the help

That's awesome. Congrats Any texts, email, or online status? That is good news.
Yes, texts on the 9th as well as online update but just for the EAD.

My EAD and AP were approved a week ago. Cleveland filer too but I don't think it matters for the EAD, my letters came from Missouri
-
Got two approval notices in the mail today - one for AP and one for EAD.
On the EAD one it said they will both be on the same card.
I can't wait until I get the actual card!

Yes, if they feel they need something else from you they will send you another RFE. Doesn't matter which day is it in your journey.
They can even give you one at your interview.
-
I'm not sure I undestand your question.
He's doing AOS so you don't need the CR1 or anything else.
Take a look at my timeline, I was on a J1.

Your upcoming interview is for your green card (adjustment of status). The card that was mailed (I-765) to you is for your employment authorization and advance parole; hence, your combo card. So I don't think you have to return your card, it's all yours to keep and use until your green card arrives upon your interview approval.
Yes, I know the difference.
But on my interview notice it says I should bring it with me to the interview.
I wonder if it's gonna stay with them.
I may not even get it because I'll be leaving a couple days earlier.
-
I woke up to 4 texts from USCIS today. That's the first time I have gotten text updates since the NOA1s.
They were all for the I-765 and on the website it says "Card was mailed to me" dated January 4th.
I'm obviously very happy but my interview is in 10 days. Do I have to take the card back to them? What if it doesn't get here in time?
-
Your agency clearly generalizes cases when it actually depends on your local office.
Mine is Cleveland, OH and I got my interview super quick but people in other areas can wait up to a year or even more.
No one can give you an exact timeline.

I've read it's really tough getting AP (or EAD) before your biometrics appointment.
Better to schedule an infopass appointment at your local office to discuss your options.
