I had a question from a member of our community. Since I came here through legal immigration they hoped I could help. I'm not sure I can but I will try.
About 3 years ago, a 14 year old boy from Honduras was left behind by his 'father' who was having him work illegally as a roofer and took all his pay.
After an argument that the homeowners got involved in, he left the boy on their doorstep.
The people took him in, sent him to school and cared for him. He is now 17 and they are looking into ways to get him a legal status.
We don't know of any US citizen (or greencard) family members and the child was not officially adopted. The 'father' that left him is probably not the father, and illegal in any case.
They do have contact with his birth mother in Honduras and she is willing to help in any way she can.
I am thinking about special immigrant juvenile classification (i360 and i485) but any advise is welcome.

Has anyone been to the new Louisville fieldoffice? Its supposedly on 4th street, but that looks like a mall with a lit of restaurants and bars. I cant find anything looking like a government office on street view.
Anyone that's been there, where is the entrance?
In case anyone uses the search function to find the Louisville field office.
The address is 411 S 4th street, suite 200, Louisville KY. It is in the 4th street live area.
Best way to go is to park in the '4th street live' parking garage on 5th st. We paid 6 dollars for 2 hours. Park on lvl 3. Then exit the building on the 4th street side. Make sure to exit on level 3. Once out of the building, you should come out on the 2nd story walkway above 4th street.
Keep left, there is an airbridge across the street. This airbridge leads straight to the uscis office.
If you come from street level, there is a red staircase that leads straight up to the office.

Well, I had my interview scheduled for today, but hubby tested positive for covid.
I'm still negative with no symptoms (knock on wood) but I called and they won't let me in. They are rescheduling my appointment.
I got the letter today. My interview is rescheduled to September 1.
Its only a 6 week setback. Not bad.

Good Morning,
I’m scheduled for N400 interview August 15th. I didn’t get a notification via text or email. I found out when I refresh my USCIS case tracker app this morning.
Please I would really appreciate if you guys can tell me how to prepare, what version of USCIS Civic test should I use and what platform I can use to learn the US History, Constitution ETC.
Thank you.
I love the uscis civics test app. It's a 20 question multiple choice test with explanation if you get the answer wrong.
The actual test is open (not multiple choice) but it has helped me a great deal to practice.

What do you mean LIN filing though -- N400s go to the NBC. 🤔
Oh bless, you're right. I'm confused with my last application 😆
Sorry 'bout that!
Still haven't received the physical letter though.

Checked my online status today and I have an interview scheduled!!!!
Now I have to wait for the letter to arrive to know exactly when and where, but it's progress.

It was updated May 29 to be exact, a Sunday on Memorial weekend. 😆

hi there,
I am wondering how did you receive that notice if you have received the paper notice yet? My wife also filled on paper but she hasn't received anything yet. Thanks for your help.
I added a notification form G1145 to my application. That form is a request to send you a text message or email when the application was received with your receipt number.
I received the paper notice yesterday along with the notice that my biometrics will be reused.
Online it shows my case is actively being handled since 1/18

Filed on paper on 1/11 and received a notice today taht they received it on 1/13.
Paper receipt has not reached me yet.

Received NOA1 today.
Application received by USCIS: dec 28
NOA1 date: jan 30
Not sure why I got it this fast, I dont think I've seen applications beyond november being processed? I didn't receive a phone call or email from the tier 2 as I was promised. But maybe contacting them sped things up?
We are from the south of Indiana. Closest fieldoffice is Louisville KY. Closest office is Indianapolis.
Application being handled in the LIN Nebraska office.

Believe what you want to believe. I will follow what the person on the actual USCIS website told me to do (or not do in this case).
I will revert back to reading only as its clear my experience is not appreciated.

https://citizenpath.com/faq/work-expired-green-card/ this is a simple article with a 5 second search on google. Just that you know, Tier 1 as the same of K-1, if you remember....are the least reliable, because they are not USCIS immigration officers
And as for most simple google searches, they are often superficial or simply inaccurate. This article was written for an expired unconditional 10 year greencard.
As you know, I have a conditional greencard, and am applying for removal of conditions.
If anything this following article is more accurate. But this one will not go into detail on working on an expired conditional greencard either.

Again, I appreciate your help. Ill let you know when I speak with a tier 2 and get more reliable answers.

I understand, thats why I asked for tier 2.
I appreciate all the help and expertise I find on visa journey. It has helped me navigate this journey many many times over the past years.
But I cannot in good conscience go against a direct answer from a government employee like that. Be it an Indian callcenter or not.
Like I said, better safe that sorry.
Fortunately I am in the position where I can afford to stay home and wait it out.
I will keep you posted once I hear from tier 2
-
I chatted with a tier 1 on Thursday. He told me I am not allowed to work on an expired greencard until I get my letter.
I requested to be connected with a tier 2, since that was different from the information I have. He set me up to be called back withing 7 days.
My greencard expires 1.28, so I arranged to be off work. Better safe than sorry.
-
So, just to be sure. I am allowed to work with my expired co dictionary greencard even though I have not received my NOA1 yet.
Is my insurance license still valid?
BMV refuses to renew my drivers license, so I won't be able to drive with my expired license.

You have 2 options, check with you State DL office, I know that in Texas the state extended the expiration date a few months due to covid19. 2nd option go to the DL office and apply for renewal, use your passport and expired GC and ask them to check with the SAVE system.
Our local BMV was an absolute nightmare to get my first DL to begin with. And that was with all the paperwork in order and the printed page from IN BMV website stating that these were the documents needed.
I'm not holding my breath.
I will check the IN BMV to check on the extended expiration. Thank you!

I appreciate all the replies! You guys are great.
I will forward them the information of the charity organizations. They had looked into an immigration attorney but they are charging more than what the family can afford.
Again, thank you!
