  1. I noticed today my AOS status chaned to "N/A" and then I called NVC to confirm and they said yes my case is now completed at the NVC and I will soon get a letter from them confirming this and then notified when my Embassy appointment will take place. A nice surprize for a Friday afternoon! It took them about 30 days to process my case once they received my AOS and my civil documents.

Congratulations and good luck with the interview! :)

  2. I haven't gathered any documents yet. Is there any other documents needed apart of a Belgian criminal record and a UK criminal record? I haven't requested those documents yet as they are only valid for a certain period of time and no one knows when Nebraska will approve us.

For the NVC, if I understood correctly, the different chunks of time on average are:

Approved i130 to go to NVC: 1 month

Submitting the different packages and paying the fees: 1 month

NVC to review your documents and give you a scan date: 1 month

Scan date to CC: 45 days

    CC to interview: ??

Is that roughly what it is? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi BnDw, I'm sorry its been rough for you after coming back. I really don't have any good news to tell you. Only thing I can so is hold on and try to get your mind thinking about other things. You are nearly half the way through and the goal is worth the wait.

I'm no expert on the NVC stage, but its mostly 2 big online forms with a lot of your data like your passport number, places you've lived and things like that. These's 2 fees, AOS stuff, police certificate to obtain, and medical, etc.

This VJ document is very good and gives you step by step info:

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

I think the time it takes is really dependent on the time it takes NVC to respond after you complete certain steps. By respond, I mean when the CEAC site changes status. From what I've seen for London its taking about 5 months on avg., that's from VJ stats.

Right now in this thread I'm seeing some frustration with people who've got their NOA2's but NVC either hasn't received their case or NVC hasn't yet generated there case and IIN numbers, both of which are required to start the NVC electronic paperwork and paying one of the fees.

    Good luck, stay strong.

  3. Nothing yet for us. Hopefully I don't have an RFE coming my way!

We've seen very few RFEs here, I'm actually surprised. I used to see more RFE's in K-1 threads, I don't know maybe marred couples don't provoke RFE's as much?

VJ says Texas is processing November 24th NOA1s, and Nebraska is doing December 16th. I think those are more reliable measures than my freak NOA2 timing.

    Hope your's comes soon!

  4. Well now I know why I didn't want to call USCIS or NVC. Of course I found out by calling USCIS, and then waiting for the NVC guy to come on the line.

USCIS told me that during High Volume their system might not update until after the for seeable future. Well actually he didn't say anything about the for seeable future, I just felt like adding that line. :) He just said if I got the NOA2 it'll show up at NVC and I can check their web site for my status.

The NVC didn't have the case and said it can take up to 35 days to receive, and then to get the actual case number it can take another 45 days.

    Now aren't I glad I called! :D

  5. Hi everyone! We finally got my son's US passport and 'birth abroad' certificate in the mail today so I was able to finally send out our AOS package to NVC! I figure it could take about 68 days from now til husband's interview at the embassy. Fingers crossed! Just wanted to share in our excitement.

Hi Blanche, well actually I'm disappointed, I thought for sure you all must be roaming around in Florida or New York by now! :D Oh but anyway its good that now you are only waiting for your husband's interview! Hope it comes mighty soon! :D

  6. Yes I hope it does not come to me contacting the congressman. I will wait out another week and see. Another assuring thing is that people who got approved around my date from CSC are also in the same boat. So i hope its just a delay from CSC in sending our packets to NVC.

Well thats good, I don't know also whether these days with all the crazy things going on in the world NVC might be required to do a bit more checks,

  7. Any luck with NVC? My NOA2 was March 30th and called up NVC yesterday, they say that my case has not yet arrived from USCIS.

That is pretty bad when it gets nearly a month since NOA2. USCIS does say wait 30 days, but still thats kind of extreme. If it goes beyond that, you might want to get an NVCResearch request in to them. You never know sometimes they may be doing some extra processing, or something. The last resort is to get your congressmen involved, but hopefully it doesn't come to that.

  8. called NVC just to ask if they received my case

they said we don't have any information but the case was received on april 18th

it can take upto 30-45 days for a case number and IIN number

weird my noa 2 date was april 19th , how can NVC receive the case on april 18th ????

Well it could be that USCIS has 2 different batch processes one for sending info electronically to NVC and one for setting up your NOA2. Maybe the batch that sends to NVC got processed before the NOA2 batch, who knows?.

  9. Looki

i don't think you been approved in 4 months is a problem.....

I was approved in 2 months 10 days (70 days)

you should try calling NVC tomorrow April 26 to asked whether they received your case and

called again may 2 or 3 for your case number and invoice number...

this should work if your case was send to NVC the day it was approved.

Unlike mine which took 2 weeks before it was sent to NVC ( Approved march 8 and send march 21)

NVC received it a week after (march 28 2016) I called and was told they received it on this date

my case was assigned a number April 4, 2016

I Call April 5 2016 and got my case number and invoice number

so just call and it wont create a problem ... I call them when I want to make an inquiry about my case and they always answer...

Hi Restrion, wow your case was approved in 70 days! Ok but now I am curious, excuse me in case you told me already were you and your husband living abroad when you filed the petition?

Actually we did not want to get the NOA2 so quickly! :) We want the interview after we have been married over 2 years, so she will get the IR-1 visa. Also she planned to take a class in UK that lasts 3 months.

So in any case I am not in a real hurry to call NVC just yet. Yes NVC is quite easy to talk to.

But having your case approved in 4 months at the Texas Service center where they are taking about 5+ months is unusual. Its like cutting into a queue of people waiting. It doesn't happen normally like that. The process is mostly first come, first serve. Unless your case is expedited, or you are filing from abroad while both living abroad.

But thanks, I will check soon, I'm not quite ready to start all that NVC work yet.

  10. Mine shows the same thing (and the same date). I told my husband to check the mail tonight!

    Congrats, Looky!!!!

Thanks JlovesA! The Nebraska people still have lots of approvals left to be had. VJ shows Texas as more than a month behind Nebraska, so I have no clue.

Well so whatever freak accident may have happened to my case, I hope it rubs off on your case and your NOA2 shows up in your husbands Snail Box today! :D

  11. yes looki... it state the exact status of your case whether it has been received, approved, or sent to NVcC.. Just as the online check case status does ... maybe it wasnt updated and its not a problem.. just call uscis monday to find out and they will tell you...

Hi Restrion, yes you are probably right. I was checking online and this seemed to have been an even bigger problem in the past where people only get the NOA2 hardcopy but no change in status and even no change at USCIS customer support.

I guess I also had feeling that it can't be! How did I get NOA2 already when nobody else here from TSC got approved? I thought I had at least a month more to go!

Well its already going to be a week since my NOA2 date of the 18th so I just have a week or 2 until it should be received by NVC

Maybe I will hold off from calling USCIS support for now. They are very frustrating and knowing that my case has only been processing for 4 months, they may even hang up on me! :D

    Thanks!

  12. looky: is that a bit over-imagined? Approval is approval.

Sometimes, they just do not update their system. A lot of people from a new service center will never receive/see anything online, they only receive hard copy of NOA by snail mail just like you. But it is anyway good to call them next week to verify, I believe each case should be carefully check before any approval decision is made...

Well its not necessarily over imagined. I had a scenerio on a previous K-1 petition when it was approved by USCIS. I checked with NVC and they didn't get the case. I checked with USCIS and they say we approved it so its not our problem, check with NVC.

Finally I contacted my congressman, which forced USCIS to look closer. The congressman soon replied back and told me they found my case in an 'Offsite Storage Facility'. Makes you wonder what is an offsite storage facility, a trash can maybe! :D But anyway they finally got it to NVC.

But it was all for nothing anyway, my now wife, didn't go through with the interview.

No but right now thats probably over imagined! These days a lot of the tracking and everything is electronic. Still if Texas told me they approved my petition, why hasn't the USCIS Customer support system been updated? Who knows why MyUSCIS status still shows my 'Case Was Received' still. The NOA2's are pretty canned, I'm sure they can be auto generated and setup for shipping, who knows maybe by accident also.

So anyway my mood is tackle any problem now, if there is one, instead of later.

  13. i am sure it won't tell me anything but i still went ahead and emailed them since i want to change the applicant's name

if they reply back they would just tell me what i need to do for the name change

ideally i should be calling them after 2 weeks from the date my case was approved

    You don't understand:

USCIS will not do anything for you after they have approved your case.

NVC can't do anything for you until they receive the case from USCIS.

The USCIS support line:1-800-375-5283 is only a recording on weekends and after hours. What I'm trying to find out is wether it tells anybody that got their NOA2 anything other than what it told me about my case.

I think it should tell people who got NOA2's that their case was approved.

  14. i sent an email to change the applicant's name also asked for the case number and IIN number . i am sure they would say that they have not received my case

what number did you call to have your case number entered ?

No this was not call to NVC. This was call to USCIS and the USCIS case number that we've all had since NOA1. The USCIS support number is on the bottom of your NOA2. The USCIS status should say something like they approved the case.

If you call that number: 1-800-375-5283 click the number to access your case status. It will ask you to enter your USCIS case number (remember the one with the 3 letters in front and then 10 digits.

If you do that does it tell you that your case was approved?

  15. I called the USCIS Customer support line today (Sunday) entered my case number and the recording told me basically that they got my case in December. Its just as if their system still thinks my case is still processing.

Call me a skeptic but I have reason to be paranoid about USCIS's ability to screw things up.

I'm going to call them again this week and get one of their 2nd tier officers and see what they can tell me about why I received the NOA2 hardcopy and their system say's my petition is still under processing?

  16. I don't know how that happened but we saw they can make mistakes! When I called the consulate to ask when they would contact me, they said '' since your case was approved, we can't give you K-3 visa.'' So there was a misunderstanding, a mistake. I was so surprised because my I-130 case was already approved, yeah. And Texas which I-129F case was sent told my husband that the case was closed. Very weird :D I was excited for nothing. Now I'm waiting for my case at NVC to complete. Best wishes to you! I hope everything goes easy for you and all of us :]

Hi Fatigo, oh sorry that they got you excited for nothing. I guess thats why VJ tends to say K-3 doesn't really work for I-130 anymore cause since K-3 gives you a Visa to wait for your I-130 to get processed. But its useless because the I-130 and K-3 gets processed nearly at the same time so there is nothing to wait for!

Anyway congratulations on getting approved, and now you will get a real interview at Ankara for the CR-1! Good luck!

  17. Oh! It hasn't occurred to me that we can do that! Is it possible? Will they later require a copy of the page from his passport through RFE? It wouldn't be a problem, of course, just don't want to waste time sending and re-sending.

    Thanks

Yes they allow supplements / attachments etc. Actually when I was doing my petition I did that a lot for anything which I wanted to explain.

Well I don't know what they would want. They might just take your word for it. But its possible they might want something or you might want to take copies of those pages as evidence to the interview in case they ask.
