We received my husband's green card on Friday! Finally done with USCIS for almost two years now. :)

July 2: Interview, not immediately approved as we were told they wanted to review my husband's military records again (he only did the mandatory service for Turkey)

July 5: Case update to card in production

July 12: Card received in mailbox

Congrats I got mine too! Time to enjoy it for two years before having to worry again lol

  2. I'm the petitioner and had my interview yesterday. The officer went over the information on packet 485.

This is what we handed over to her:

My copy of my birth certificate

    Copy of marriage certificate

    My wife's translated birth certificate

    Copy of my driver's license

Copy of my wife's passport/Visa in passport

    I-94

Most recent W2 (almost didn't bring it)

Showed her a ton of pictures of us from the beginning to present day. She made a copy of 10 recent pictures.

I stupidly did not apply for an EAD/AP so my wife never got a social so I lacked a lot of joint evidence. I had a Power of Attorney given to my wife notarized and an affidavit from my father notarized saying we are in a bonafide marriage. I was already thinking they were going to deny me on the lack of joint evidence but she said it was enough and approved our greencard.

The information I needed to know was the dates on when I visited my wife and when we got married.

    Good luck!

  3. Had the interview this morning and we were approved! So happy this is finally over. The officer was extremely friendly and overall a nice person. She asked if I hired a lawyer to fill out my paperwork and I told her I did everything on my own and she said she figured because I made a common mistake on form I-485 but was easily fixed. When I told her lawyers charge way too much she said that they usually make the same mistake I did if not more mistakes and in her opinion, aren't worth it.

Anyway she just confirmed what was on form I-485, asked when we got married, when I visited my wife the first time and how many times I visited. We showed her a lot of pictures and she said she's been doing this job for a long time and she knows what she's looking for.

Told us that we will get our greencard usually within two weeks.

  4. I have my interview coming up and forgive me if this is a dumb question but I already submitted form I-864 with all of my evidence. I honestly don't remember getting a copy back and if I did I misplaced it. In the interview instructions on what to bring it says bring I-864 with all required evidence unless already submitted.

Does that mean they will have a copy or would I need to print all of it again?

So, I haven't actually visited this forum for some time now, I hope everyone's applications are going smoothly!

    Update on our case:

For starters we didn't file EAD or AP (due to complicated reasons), so we only filed the AOS and all the documents necessary to file it.

Today I checked my case's status, and it has updated (May 6th 2019), stating that our interview has been scheduled with a notice on the way to us - which is great!

But due to a stupid hold up (I blame the admin at H&R block!), We haven't received the ITIN number yet, which was supposed to help us out with getting a state ID card, bank account, insurances, and etc.

Only... We haven't received it yet - grr.

So! Is anyone else in a similar predicament? We don't really have much evidence to bring to the interview at the moment. Only one letter that says I'm my partner's beneficiary, wedding certificate, and some other nick nacks like photos, receipts, and etc.

We're going to bring as much as we can but...

    Any suggestions? Advice?

    I could be overthinking this...

Wow so lucky! I'm still waiting for my interview but I'm in the same boat as you. I did not apply for EAD or AP as well. I was reading that having a power of attorney, wedding certificate, wedding photos and photos in general should be enough. If you're paranoid like me though you'll just take everything and more.

  6. Hello Everyone,

I have sent my AOS after marrying my fiancée after going through all the paperwork hell she's finally settled here at home with me. However, I am now just reading that she should have applied for a SSN after entering the US. I misunderstood and thought it was after she got her greencard. My I-94 expired already so what are my options now? Do I just wait for her to get her greencard and then apply?

    Thank you!

You will not make the interview appointment.  The Embassy will make the  interview appointment after you have submitted all of the Packet 3 Documents.

When you receive your notice of the appointment date, ( Most likely by email) that is when you can schedule the medical exam.  She will need to provide the hospital of the  appointment date and also must take a copy of the notice with her to the hospital as proof.    There are only 2 hospitals I believe you can choose from to get this done.  Bangkok Nursing Home or Bumrungrad Hospital.   The medical exam is 2 days.  She will have the exam one day and the results on the second day.    Another thing to keep in mind is that your fiancé will have to be up to date on her  immunizations.  They will do the required immunizations at the hospital for additional costs.    My wife had all of hers done before she even had the exam.   A gonorrhea test is now mandatory as well, so don't be surprised if additional costs are added to cover immunizations if you have not done them already.

You can PM me if you would like and I can give you more information if you like and maybe I can have my wife assist your fiancé with her personal experiences.

    Scott

Thank you Scott. I always look forward to your responses. I'll be sure to PM you any other questions I have.

  8. Hello,

We are almost finished with this nightmare! The embassy has our case already and my fiancee has paid for the visa fee and should get the police record in 8 days. When I tried to make an appointment on the UStraveldocs website it said that the embassy will schedule one for me. Will my fiancee get a letter with the appointment? Also, do I have to wait for this letter to do the medical exam or can I just print some type of confirmation? Thank you!

my case been "at nvc" since last Wednesday , when I called two days ago the agent said "it under further administrative processing" which was incorrect. I emailed my lawyer that day and he called me about 4 hours ago, our case isn't under anything and the person he talked to told him that the agent I spoke with had no basis for that and that my case is normal and has no notes on it and said "we don't do administrative processing at the NVC anyway" and proceeded to tell my lawyer that my case was in the final preparation to be sent to the embassy and that it will soon be in transit.

    I felt so relieved!!!

By the way I bought a Gibson Les Paul today...

That sounds about right. When I called the guy told me that it will take 6 weeks to get my case so I don't have to call until at least 6 weeks have passed. I called two days later and I got my case number.

Some embassy's automatically provide an interview date. I'd ring your embassy and find out

Ours said the same thing but it wasn't the case. We had to actually email them and ask for an interview date. Once your embassy receives your case and sends you your information, it should be clear what steps to take to schedule the interview.

    Thank you !

Depends on your Consulate. Philippines you can schedule once you have your case number. I would recommend that you go over to the sub forum for Thailand and ask that question. Each sub forum has "experts" to help you and others who are going through just what you are.

Dang you have to wait for the embassy to get your packet. I know every embassy is different but how long did it take your embassy to get your packet from the NVC?
