Has anyone gotten approved by Potomac YSC office from here recently?

Potomac? Hahahahahh I spoke with friend at DOS and they couldn't even get state visit visa visas through timely out of potomac.

just file for citizenship. They are waiting for you to do so. Were in the same boat. Just filed since its been 2.5 years and got sick of waiting.

Hello everyone! I filed for removal of conditions way back in February 2021. Like many of you I am guessing, my two-year green card expired in April 2021. Since then I have received two extension letters, with the second extending the validity of my green card by two years to April 2023.

Reading this thread I am guessing that it is not particularly unusula to be waiting so long? I have some international travel I'd like to do in 2023 but with waiting for the 10-year green card it is making me nervous. I am thinking about booking an appointment to get the stamp and maybe starting the citizenship process - is that what you guys would recommend? I had been waiting to start the citizenship stuff until after I got the 10-year card but the longer I wait, the more I think I should just file and be done with it.

Our thoughts exactly. Going to stay ahead of it with info pass for stamp. And may hire an attorney come the 90 day window if there are no more extension letters. I would think they will likely extend them again as they save a ton of administrative headaches. As for citizenship, would hate to drag this one out longer by disrupting and then need to study to pass the test. An attorney said to probably wait at this stage on it. She said it was unclear if it would help as it used too, given all the general agency processing delays…. Let it run its course is the thinking.

  3. Since the Feb sheets file is not working, anyone seen or heard anything on YSC Potomac progress? We are like so many sitting on the automatic biometrics approved notice with the longer extension letter. The last two and half years have sucked for everyone. One would think they would just get on with it already. Dreading having to scramble if they drag out to the last minute on the existing extension wondering if they will issue yet another due to the processing delays. We try not to think about it, far back of our minds mostly, but occasionally check to see whats up, and of course nothing.

I looked at the other month files still out there and didn't see reports of any other YSC packets moving. But perhaps the files are not being updated?

Trumps Policy murdered immigration. And the current President all he knows is talk and do nothing. I don't see why application will even make one year not to talk of years as I have seen. You either review it reject or accept it. America is not heaven that you will make applicant go through all this just to get a stay. This is so frustrating. I have lamented ,wept, but all in vain cos none of the ones responsible can see or read my post. This the worst immigration system in the world.

Once folks realize and then accept all opinions are assigned by those who assign them, one will hold a completely different view of how the world really goes around. Separating from it is hard.

Trump’s WH added fuel to the fire at the agency but with curbing those who abuse the system in mind. Yes Biden and team D are seemingly inept now, and frankly their lack of cooperation on border security lead to the Trump move prior and  more insight on that topic below. Mainly this is all due to vast hive thinking opinion assignment run amuck. (Ask Elon Musk about that Problem) but to insinuate that any of these comments everyone has made are root cause misses the point.

You cannot fix the problems we are experiencing when people are allowed to abuse the border and the system. It fuels the disfunction. Gov is naturally slow, chaos will win. Just the way it works.

Were all here doing this the legal way. Take all the border abusers out and our apps would have turned in 90 days.

What influences all this is in my opinion, Tax Revenue: The most likely explanation is simply to backlog those that can wait who already pay taxes and work legally, in favor of applications that produce tax revenue by creating new tax payers. The illusion that this has anything to do with the opinion assigned buzzwords of the month from the opinion assigners is frankly in my opinion ludicrous and devoid of critical thought on the matter.

Since the system abusers are here, there is more upside for the agency to make tax payers out of them. It’s baked in to the pie. If there was no financial upside, our current issue would not exist.

You will get divided opinions on applying for citizenship while the I-751 is pending. Legally, there is nothing preventing you from doing it.

However, it doesn't mean that it will bump up for I-751. I have a friend that had an naturalization interview scheduled for today. Well, last week they called her and said they couldn't proceed because they did not have her I-751 file. So off to waiting again.

Yet more seriously, this week an N400 was denied here in VJ because they did not have the I-751. The worst part is that if that happens, you'd have to pay for an appeal because USCIS is not going to admit their mistake.

My I-751 is pending since February this year. I am thinking of waiting until it gets approved in order to file for citizenship.

Thanks, well so nothing is preventing us from compiling the package in advance and waiting it out to then backfill and send once this is done. That and can start studying for the citizenship questions to fill the time. Gives us something to do to fill the vacuum I suppose.

With all the time YSC has saved commuting by teleworking one would think that office would be cranking out their cases. I know someone at State Dept that cant even get visas issued timely out of USCIS. So even our own gov agencies assisting foreign nationals for travel auth for meetings and events are stuck in this same backlog so everyone is well aware. It’s not just all of us waiting.

Saw an article this morning on wtop that talks about there being a gov survey being issued by WH to study ways to improve/ease the burden on access to many services, red tape, confusion, paperwork barriers etc. Whats not clear is if that encompasses a fee based agency like USCIS. I bet it doesn't. I know they try but the current situation is quite baffling. Everyone wants to blame Trump or Biden. I think it’s just the nature of the beast + emergency restrictions that have hampered logistics and their ability to dig out. Prob a lot of job hopping occurring as well which is affecting staffing. Why can one center get theirs out and others sit? This makes no sense whatsoever until you factor in the workforce in the region the center is based. If there are an abundance of workers avail, the agency has the staffing they need. In YSC, I bet they are just overworked and understaffed and or focusing their energy in areas of more timely and pressing matters pushing us to the back of the pile.

  6. It appears legit that this ended up mixed into your application and they are returning it to you and is likely related to an account you have.

Their letter might be a form that they used to return it to you. Some people might actually send a credit card by mistake and they just use this generic form to return it. They likely have very strict policies that could cause processing employee to lose their job if they don't follow procedure with retuning $ or items they are not allowed to hold like this.

worst case you should call and inquire to be certain.

  7. We fedex’ed ours Tuesday the 9th. Hopefully we were not a day early.... It was signed the 8th which was exactly 90 days to GC expiration. Back to this waiting again. I sent every joint bank statement and credit card statement for 24 months on top of every car insurance and investment accounts and our household HSA account. I suppose I could have highlighted the relevant transactions but in hindsight, you know, if they want evidence, they got pretty much all we have to give bar two items. I really don’t know what else to give them as we don’t have anything else to provide.

I figure if they issue an RFE, by then the DMV will be open and we can get the car titles jointly done, and we’ll pay an attorney to have a will or trust drafted. That would fill any possible RFE hole. We need to do these items anyways so that would prob be enough to satisfy. Maybe a 2nd notarized letter from friends or her employer...

Covid didn’t really allow us time to get the last two items in our bucket list done. Not paying an attorney unless we have to for the case but seriously, this process is draining. still have citizenship forms to fill out also! Ugh. Be so glad when this is ALL over.

She will be fine as of now she's met the 90 day requirement. The K1 was voided after she went through POE. Her I-94 is what she is using as her status. As long as you re-file as soon as they send it back you have nothing to worry about.

What about these new rules going into affect on 9/11/18? Any thoughts?

Were both just so upset. My work was slammed while we were trying to get the packet together to send and for whatever reason we both ignored the fact that everyone was saying $1225 ugh! Just want this done!

  10. 4 hours ago, DownToEarth said:

Unfortunately, you are looking at a rejection. The biometrics done for the K1 do not count for the adjustment of status. The ones I did here involved a questionnaire I had to fill out (weight, eye color, hair color, race, etc). They also  took my fingerprints  and a picture that will show up on the EAD/AP card and eventually on the green card.

Wait for them to send your package back and resend it.

The K1 expires on 9/16. What happens if we don't get it back in time to re-file? Would that mean she has over stayed if we do not refile before the 16th?

  11. I am self employed well - I own my own company. I really do not take a paycheck regularly, so hence no Pay Stubs and I'm the sole officer of the corporation so... I was going to attach the 1120S form from the IRS. Does anyone know if this will be suffice? I am above the minimum so should it even be a problem? Or giving them too much create a problem? Anyone have some thoughts here?

Can you tell me, do we need 6 photos or only two? Does each package need its own seperate copies for the documentation or do we simply submit one set for the entire package?

Not sure that is accurate. They didn't stop me to bring my phone when I went through security but the use of it in waiting area was prohibited but there was no requirement to  power it off. I don't know if their policy varies depending on the office.

    Probably just embassies then...

  14. Can anyone tell me what is appropriate for booking flight for K1 entry? I mean, if we book a round trip, can we just book it as cheep as possible not worrying about the date? Like we found cheep flight dates with a 6 day round trip price. Do the immigration agents care about this knowing it's a K1? Or should we book it out the extended 90 days and then once were married let the return ticket go un-used? Or Must we book a one way ticket? Or do they not allow that?

Check the CEAC site at: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa". Don't ask why, as no one has been able to articulate why!

Here is additional information that will answer your other questions.

    1. VJ Portals

    2. Google

    3. VJ country subforum

    4. Search VJ members who recently got approved and contact them for help. I am sure they will help in anyway they can as they know how daunting this visa process is.

READ all post in this thread as many give an answer to someone else who asked the same question you have or you can visit the "generic" link to see how it affects you.

    Good luck.

    In CEAC

When I use non immigrant I get “no status” when I use immigrant it says invalid case number.

    Any Ideas?

    TY!

  16. HELP - So Fiance submitter her DS160 Application today with DOS electronically. When I check it using the number it says "no status" I would assume the Consulate will receive the other paperwork? I would like to get a head start on as much as we can but am not certain if this is the tracking of the application etc? Should the embassy already have the other paperwork and we could call them? Does anyone know the path of paperwork here? Would rather not waste three weeks waiting for them to mail us instructions. Please Advise!
