It was indeed the same officer. I went to high school with someone with the same last name and asked if they were relatives! He didn't know her but truthfully they had very similar features so I'm guessing a distant cousin or something!

Another friend has her interview on the 26th and had a similar experience, although she hasn't responded if it was the same officer (she just said a white man when I initially asked her)!

I'm so glad to hear you're through this process - and had a positive resolution quickly. Until I see the notice I'm still nervous though!

The whole process is nerve racking until the card is in hand! Good luck hope it comes soon! :)

So today we had our interview in Charlotte. Got there super early for an 8 am appointment. Got called back at 8:05 and out the door by 8:30. A lot of form questions, not really that many about our relationship besides identifying locations and times of pictures we submitted. The agent was pretty friendly and even made a joke or two during the process which helped alleviate stress. In the end he didn't guarantee approval but said it was highly likely in the next week once it gets signed off by the supervisor. I know CLT is understaffed from friends who recently has interviews and were told similar things. So waiting with baited breath for the status to change on the web/app, or a letter to come saying approved, or even better the Green Card coming in the mail.

    Best of luck to all!

We had our interview in Charlotte on Tuesday, Sept 24, and had a similar experience.  I wonder if you had the same officer we had, last name was Tackett I believe.  He was very friendly and asked nothing about us at all except those standard questions from the form, after the interview he told us we had a 99.9% chance of approval but his supervisor did the final approvals, so we assumed he might have been newer. But I was nervous how long that would take, our status changed the Friday in the middle of the night to case approved and we received my card end of last week.

Our interview was WAY better than we expected. To be honest, I had been extremely nervous this past month even though I know we were prepared.

Our officer was very friendly and made us both feel at ease. She definitely studied our application, as she shared that she had a good understanding of what kind of couple we were before us coming in. She also read our affidavit letter of support (which I didn't think they usually do!!!) - she was going though our photos and then asked whether our friend, who wrote the letter, was in these photos (!!!).

A majority of her questions were to confirm our answers from both the I-130 and I-485 forms. She also asked if we wanted to submit new documents and then collected everything I shared with her (see my list below for our bona fide docs we brought). There was only one question that not form-related was "how did you guys meet?" and that was it!

My advice to everyone is to come in prepared with documents, and be your normal self. If you didn't remember something, don't panic - we are not perfect! Dress business casual - you don't have to go business professional.

Here's our bona fide docs. I also brought a copy of our I-865 financial form and supporting docs.

    • Joint Bank Accounts
    • Insurance
    • Copy of the Lease - Rental Contract
    • Utility Bills
    • Selected Photos Documenting Relationship
    • Travel Itineraries:
    • Incoming Wedding Plan
    • Proof of Co-ownership of Pet
    • Affidavit Letter of Support

Great to hear it went well! We had ours today and it was super fast and went well! He didn't ask any questions except the usual I-130 and I-485 ones.  How long after did yours change to Case Approved or New card being produced?

We received the letter today 5 days after the email was sent and the website was updated.  Interview is set for September 19 at 8am!!

Good luck in your interview tomorrow! It would be awesome if you could post an update of how it goes and if there is any specific documents asked for or preparation that we should do.  Our interview is next Tuesday.

    Hello all,

What is the number to call USCIS.  I have that my case is ready to be scheduled, but haven't received a letter with the interview date.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what the number is, it should be on their website.  But when your case changes to ready to be scheduled you don't usually receive a letter.  Ours changed a while ago and then when it changes to "Interview was Scheduled" you get a letter with a date.  You're in line to be scheduled now.

    Hello all,

Just looking for some confirmation.  Any one else filling I-130 and AOS/EAD/AP at the same time?  My wife was living in the US legally when we got married.  Wondering how long this will take.  Already did fingerprints. Thanks in advance.

I think most people did it all at the same time, I filed mine 3/29 and still haven't received the EAP/AP or had my interview scheduled.  I think it takes 6-8 months right now.

  7. Once you've ceased residency in Canada you'll file a final return in Canada on that income at the end of the year and put that you left the country on 5/27, that will mean that you're tax credits will be prorated on that income.  At the end of the year you'll file your US return and say that you entered the country on 5/27, therefore, again credits will be prorated on income.  I'm not sure how you're dividend is paid but if you're paid monthly technically you earned 16,700 as a Canada resident and the remaining 23,300 as a US resident.  I believe, that since you are earning from a Canadian source you'll still have to file the Canadian return annually reporting income, however, it should be exempt because of the US/Canada treaty.

Another thing you should consider, since you left Canada and have a business there you are taxed on any capital gains earned to this point.  So if the business has gone up in value since you purchased it you will pay tax on that capital gain.

My wife had her biometrics appointment on May 28, both I-485 and I-765 have updated and say " Fingerprint review was completed" but the I-131 has not changed, just continues to say " Case was Received" (May 3)...Wanted to see if anyone has dealt with something like this, I am not too worried since we wont be traveling until December but still want to stay on top of things just incase, thank you.

I don't think the I-131 changes for fingerprinting, mine is still "Case was Received" also

Adjusting from TN as well.  Definitely not liking the time-frames, as my TN is up August, 2019!  Ugh!

Best wishes for a timely approval!

Good luck with getting through it quickly as well!  I am fairly certain that as long as you don't leave the country you are still able to work under your TN until the green card is approved, so you shouldn't have an issue.  It is a long time not to leave the country though!
