    Hello,
Thank you so much. We started our process December 5, 2017.  We got the interview letter October 12th.  So a little over 10 months.  His interview appointment is November 29th. So just shy of one year from beginning to end.

After nearly 11 months my husband is getting his interview for his visa in Morocco.  Everything in our process went very well. We filed December 3, 2017 and USCIS received application on the 7th.  We got our  letter in July that everything was approved and forwarded to NVC. In August we paid our fees and submitted all required documents electronically. Everything was approved and in October got our interview appointment.  We processed and did all of the paperwork ourselves. We are very happy with how fast the process moved.  We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary October 12.  After 13 years of knowing each other, we are finally going to be starting the new year together.  Yayyyyy

Well now that it's finished and I'm already back in the U.S. he said to try the k1.  If it gets denied he will send for me immediately, we will marry legally in Morocco and file marriage visa. Either way we will get married as we don't want to be apart any longer. We have known each other 11 years and at age 50 for both of us, we just want to be together.  I wished we had known more before we did everything, however, we know much now. Thank you for all the advice I can receive from everyone here.

Another vote for do-it-yourself! Totally manageable! Just wanted to add though, I'm not sure what you mean by "formal engagement" or what that looks like in Morocco, but be cautioned that many, MANY people have experienced denials of their K1 petition for having anything that resembles an engagement or wedding ceremony. They can judge you as "too married" to qualify for a fiancé visa, even though you are not "legally" married yet. So when you submit your evidence of relationship with your petition, just be careful that you don't submit anything that could give them the impression that you already held any kind of formal ceremony or cultural procedure.
