Hi Everyone,
I'm curious about if one must sent the police record to NVC before she can be scheduled for an interview?
My friend gets everything done except the police record, it will take nearly 1 month to get it ready. But she wants to submit the documents to NVC as soon as possible.
The official website of NVC said you can submit an explanation letter about why the document is missed.
Can she just send what she has now and write an explanation letter that she will definitely bring the police record at the interview?
Or she won't even be scheduled an interview because of missed document?
Anyone met the same situation before??
What I understood so far from the process is that, if you do not send the police certificate with the NVC package then they will give you a checklist, which is going to ask for the police certificate anyway even though official website said to put explanation letter . Usually that checklist delays the entire process a bit. I would recommend, send all the documents all together in ONE package to be on safe side. Why should you take a risk if you can avoid it. Good luck gathering all the documents !!

Hello,
Hope everyone is doing good and being patient through this journey!
Just wanted to ask a question about the NVC CEAC status update, we submitted our documents 4 weeks ago and we have a scan date of September 19 confirmed over the phone with NVC , the CEAC status update is still showing "Action required: Submit requested documents" , is this normal ?
Thank you.
The ceac website will always say " required documents" till the CC. When your case will be completed, most likely website will say " At NVC". That's how you would know your case complete, but unfortunately there is no way you can find out which stage the case is in. You might call NVC and ask but they keep saying the same thing, which it will take up to 11 weeks for case complete. I hope this helps.

How do you know what status your application is in? When I check the website it continues say application received please send in documents. I sent in the documents in August. I called and they said they received them but website will still continue to say send in documents until the documents are reviewed. Is that correct?

did you try and call them and find out what the status is? I've picked on an overall advise here on VJ to call them when you hit the 1 month mark.
I called about 2 weeks ago. I will try to call again today and see what is the update. Hopefully I will have a good news.

Im a little confused when people talk about dates..
When it's said 11 weeks for nvc, do they mean once nvc receive from USCIS? Or once you send in your package to NVC with documents ? Tia x
once you send all your documents to NVC, 11 weeks starts then

I just got approved and will be moving to NVC stage very soon. I have few questions:
1) I married my wife on the 2nd Visit. I didn't even send any proof of 1st visit to USCIS along I-130. I have significant proof of bonafide marriage since i filed my I130. Our honeymoon trip to thailand, my 3rd visit which will be happening in few days, our bank statement (i sent her money all year in our joint bank account) etc. Can I send all this to NVC in a seperate folder marked "Additional proof of bonafide marriage" ???
2) I will be sending the NVC documents from abroad using Fedex or DHL. is this ok ? is it the same address or different ?
3) How to arrange/organize documents when sending to NVC ... as per wiki " putting each package in a separate manila envelope" .. is this still correct? can i put proof of bonafire marriage in the 3rd manila envelope ?
Also - How to hold papers together .. all papers open in the envelope or use paperclips ? or ring binders ( can i put holes in the papers ? )
Yes you can send using DHL or Fedex to send the documents to the same address. As far as I remember, all documents should be in ONE envelope. DO NOT divide, that might be a checklist because they will think that you are missing some documents even though you are not. if you want you can add whatever the other documents you want to support the petition. (for example, pictures, email, chat history etc etc.)

Alright, called the NVC, the guy said everything was received and under review... date is Sept 12th, but no prediction on how long it will take.
Still weird that the ceac.state.gov website is still mentioning that we need to provide docs.
Call me paranoid, but I'm not exactly satisfied with the answer I got... Good thing my husband is not around, he'd roll his eyes at me.
i was told by many vj's member that the ceac.state.gov website would not change till the CC and till then it would ask for the required docs. after CC the website would say "At NVC". I think nothing to worry about this, you are in good shape. My SD is 8/31, still website shows I need to submit required docs.

Ahhhh! Lil update - I had a VERY last minute tonsillectomy on Wednesday... that's kinda irrelevant but basically im now recovering at home and have been checking the ceac website a few times every day. My husband phoned NVC on Monday which was our 6 week since scan date and they said to check back within a week or two as it was in the review department... When I was in hospital I read a silly horoscope and it said "you will receive interesting news by letter or email on Friday"... Ok so usually im not a believer in all that stuff but it made me smile. Well, guess FRICKIN what! Case complete as of today! No official update yet but the case status has turned to "At NVC" and our AOS section has disappeared. Sooooo excited! Making the pain of recovery so much more bearable right now happy weekend everyone!
Congrats

Everyone is calling and being told they have to wait till the welcome email comes unfortunately.
I hear you. I really don't understand why NVC agents have to be so different from each other. They should have a guideline what to do and what not to do. If they can do it for some of us, why not for rest all? Confusing place . Keep trying may be you will get a good agent and willing to help you.

I didn't call NVC after i chose an agent, i didn't know we were suppose to. I picked myself as agent. But from there on everything appeared, pay IV and AOS fee, ect
I was told if I don't call NVC to review my agent then it would take 2-3 weeks to review and also my payment would not be available to pay. But I could be wrong. But hey as long as ball is rolling, it's doesn't matter I guess.

I just got my case and invoice numbers. He said I have to wait up to 4 weeks to start paying fees, selecting an agent etc. I thought once you have the case and invoice numbers you can get the ball rolling?
I agree with @Mary Lou. The agent told me the same thing but I was able to choose my agent the very next day with my case # and invoice #. I would say try next day. It should work. And also make sure to call NVC and have them review your agent after you choose an agent, otherwise it will delay the process a bit.

Hi All,
Sent my civil and financial docs on 31st Aug and today we call to get scan date. Find out they scanned our civil docs but couldn't give us update about financials. And now we have to call again to confirm about financials. All of our docs was in one big envelope. Is it something normal ?
How did you find out that they haven't update your financial docs? did they specifically says that your financial docs are missing?

Hi Please help
1.When I edit my I864 I cannot see the bar code.
2. Do I need to write N/A to all fields with pen, not on computer?
3. Even if I say my mailing address is same as my physical address, I put the same address again in mailing address?
Thanks
1. Yes barcode should be seen.
2. write N/A in all blank places with pen or computer does not matter but make sure Do Not leave any space empty.
3. you can rewrite the same address or write N/A. -
Hello everyone, Just wanted to give ya all an update, I have sent all the documents to NVC and my SD is 8/31.

It can take up to 11 weeks each time. My first was close to 10 weeks then I waited an additional 9 weeks before case complete. Sometime you will get to bring it to the interview but if you have to send in majority wait weeks again.
Thanks @Adreamer. I guess keep my finger crossed and wait is the only option

Hello all, Just a quick question, I just submitted my documents to NVC via postal mail. I was just wondering if there is a checklist for me (hope not), within how long should I get that ( is there a approximate timeline) or is that going to take 11 weeks to get the checklist and 11 more weeks after submitting the required checklist docs to CC.

hello everyone, quick question, I was working on my I-864 form. In one place they were asking if i am married put 1 in the box, but i am sponsoring for my wife, therefore its already 1 in the upper box, so if I put 1 in the other box then household size would be 3..or should I just put NONE in that box? or add 1 for the box by manually and let my household be 2?

Calling is the best option. I would say start calling now. Your case number and invoice number should be ready by now. Good luck !!
NVC calling hours: 7am-12pm. Call either early in the morning or later at night so that you do not have to wait too long
