Update: My parents' GCs have arrived - mom's arrived on Friday (24-April) and dad's today (Monday, 27-April) - so that's 6 weeks from their entry into the US. No sign of SSN cards yet. Likely will have to go into the SSA office once the lockdown is lifted. Will update if we see any other movement.

May I ask when did you or your parents paid for the GCs? I am still waiting for mine to arrive and I got into the country March 14th..I did paid them Feb 25th.

    Thanks

  2. I am in the same situation I arrived into the country March 14 and still have not received my SSN card, I called my local office and they said it's not new for them to get these inquiries that only 50% of the times it works when you check the box on the DS260.. they also said there isn't much I can do but to wait since all office are closed around the country.. that if I did not get the SSN card within 3 weeks I am not gonna get it, I need to go personally to an office once its open.

Please I need your advise, I just found this forum even if I so much wished I did several years ago because I have been all alone on this journey. Anyways my PD became current last year after waiting over 7 years. Submitted all required documents and finally got an IL for next week in LAGOS NIGERIA(Just a day before the travel ban 😕) . After my PD became current last year God blessed me with a beautiful daughter by my gf. I know it doesn't say I can't have kids but I want to know the best way to answer the question if it comes up because she was about a month old when I submitted my Ds260 and I included her in the form.

My category is F1 (unmarried son of a US).

Not sure I understand your question, are trying to say what will the CO say because you have a daughter?meaning that it will hinder the approval?

It's embassy specific. Spousal visa priority no. US Citizen priority yes. That's why you see many embassies have scheduled but F category not. Because possibly because they had more lots for US Citizens.

Just like all the other classes each embassy have a certain # they will have scheduled for that day.

Like Holiday season and summer break visitor visa, Student visa and Business visa get more slots because that's the peck season so there are less Immigrant visa slots available.

Sounds good- Thanks for the response! Thankfully I got the IL today!

I completed the process almost 1 yr ago (April, 2019) under an F2B (adult son of permanent resident) The interview went pretty smoothly, lasted like 5min.  They just asked basic questions, jobs we both held in the US? How long we had been employed for? Etc They allowed the petitioner (my mother) to be at the interview as well, which was nice.

Awesome! Thanks for your prompt response! Today I got my IL so my interview will be Feb 24th, did not know parents could come in, probably will have Dad come down to see if he is able to get in.. Thanks again for your answer if something else pops up I will ping you for feedback!

Morning, so I called NVC this morning to ask if Jamaica was done scheduling, the agent I got told me that she doesn't know if Jamaica has finished scheduling, she can't see that but assured that we will get the email immediately as soon as the interview becomes available. She also said there's no timeline for getting the interview.

So I guess not every agent can see certain things, but this still leaves me feeling positive.

I called in today as well, I got kind of the same answer, however, I was told that my embassy is still scheduling interviews during this month, that they (NVC) have not receive and email stating that the embassy will stop opening slots..
