  1. I had my interview on Tuesday in Houston so here is my account of our experience of the interview. We arrived in good time , however we had quite a wait as it was very busy. Myself and my husband were both called through to be interviewed and I was asked for my EAD, marriage license. all birth certificates (we have 2 children together, both children were born in America) and all of our SSN cards and both of our passports. I had only taken my SSN card as I don't think it was requested for anyone else's. I apologised and said that I didn't have them with me. My husband knows his number and offered to tell the officer but he declined and said that he will look it up. I was then asked questions from the form we submitted. The interviewer asked my husband how we met, our address and the birth dates of our children. He was also asked him what my parents names are and if he had ever met them. I was then asked to name the state and city we had got married in, the wedding date and who attended. He asked me the date twice throughout the interview.

I was not asked to show any of the documents that I had prepared in my file that they ask for, such as the W-2's, pay stubs, proof of joint assets  or photos.

At the end he did his own photocopies of documents then said that he will review my case and if I don't receive any correspondence from him within the next 2 weeks I should expect to receive my green card within 4-8 weeks.

The interview was about 20 minutes long, he did not want to chat just direct answers and did not want any paper work unless he had requested it.  I had put some on his desk and he asked me to put it away.

We had also taken our youngest child who is 5 months old and I was holding him when we sat down , however I was asked to pass him to my husband to hold for the interview. Although the interview itself is not difficult, it is the intensity of it that makes it daunting.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. This has been a long journey.

We took originals of our marriage certificate,  my SSN, my  work authorisation and our passports along with  a few photo's from our wedding, thanks giving and Christmas, a few letters and cards with the envelopes The interviewer did his own copies although we had some for him but the interviewer really wasn't interested I sort of made him take the photo's since we spent quite a while putting the file together, I was a little put out that he didn't say yes there and then but hinted that we were approved but would ask us for any more info after he looked the paper work if he needed any, the next day we got notification that a new card was being issued and a few days later it arrived. the best thing to do is try to find out on the VJ site what people have taken to the office you are going too since every office seems to look at different things. we wish you the best of luck. everything should be ok, not easy I know but just try and relax and be yourselves.

Thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated. I had the file all prepared so it was good to compare and put my mind at ease.  I had my interview on Tuesday and we also were not told a yes there and then. The waiting must continue a little longer.

Even after receiving that the case is ready for interview could take 22 months? /=

I received my ead/ap card after 5 months from filing and currently waiting for my green card interview to be scheduled.  I filed in September 2018. My status for that says case is ready for interview. My local USCIS office is Houston, Texas and they have a long wait. Check where your office is and check there processing times. Some are quicker than others.

Hi friends, we got a notice that our case is ready to be scheduled for an interview, but we have not received the ead or ap card. And we dont' know when the interview will be. does anyone know approximately how long it takes after that notice?

    thanks !

    Hi,

You should be able to make an enquiry for your ead /ap card as you filed early September.

Unfortunately there seems to be no logical order as to when they authorise the ead/ap cards.

For your green card interview, that depends on you local field office and their processing times. For my office it says that it can take up to 22 months. You can check processing times on the link below.

Hi all September AOS filers! I have been a silent observer since my K1 application, but moved to Texas in July this year. I just thought I would post my updates so far, as they have shocked me!

I sent the entire AOS packet (along with EAD and AP) just before Labour Day weekend, and it was received on September 6th. I went ahead and got my driving license in August and then when my 90 days were up from my I-94, this expired! I was told this could not be renewed until my Social Security Card matched my new marital name (I already had my SSN from a previous J-1 Visa). For some reason this had been a huge problem for the people at the Social Security Office and they could not perform a simple name change due to immigration issues, and said to come back when I had my EAD or Green Card.

Very much defeated I booked an appointment online with USCIS at the Dallas Field Office for that week...I guess I got lucky. The man who served me was understanding and actually put an expedite request in for me. He said he couldn’t guarantee that it would work, as it was still quite early and my timeline had suggested around late December/early January for my EAD/AP approval. Without much hope, I left and went back to waiting. However, 3 days later I checked my app and had been approved! I received my notice of action in the mail that week, and had my combo card in hand on Tuesday 6th November.

My Green Card is now ready for interview, but who knows how long that could be. So, what I would say is, if you can get in at any field office...do it, because it was amazingly worth it for me!

Hi, that's great news for you.  I'm also from the uk and moved to Texas  around the same time as you. I had a similar problem with a SSN and am now waiting for my EAD card. What did you say to get an appointment and expedite?  I'm not too concerned about the green card, however I need the SSN for insurance purposes.

We all used to talk to much, now the Aprilites are beating us by leaps and bounds:)

So, let's try to catch up :)

Beneficiaries, what is the most useless thing that you absolutely must take to the States?

For me that would be old Christmas cards from my friends that I've been collecting for years.

Petitioners, what is the most useless (in your opinion) object you've bought/are going to buy for your beneficiary?

Eric will have to buy a hair drier for me before I come, and you can see from our profile pic why he would never find it useful:)

I'm the beneficiary and I too packed old greeting cards. I also needed a hair dryer which was given to me last Christmas as a present 😀

Looks like another great Monday for lots of people!! Congratulations to all those who saw progress!!!:dance::dance:

I'd also like to thank everyone in this thread for all of their support, encouragement, advice, information and just being great people to share this arduous process with! Sadly, on Sunday, my fiancee broke off our engagement and we will not be continuing the process. I wish everyone luck, patience, blessings, and long, happy and loving marriages!

I know this is a bit late but am sorry to read this. I haven't been on here for a few weeks so just catching up.

Wishing you all the best for your future

I'm just curious if there is anyone here from the UK, I'm a February filer currently on day 172 waiting for my NOA2. Majority of Feb filers have now scheduled their interviews and medicals and I'm panicking that by the time i get my NOA2 and schedule my medical/interview that i'll be all alone with nobody to answer my questions lol. So I'm going to creep over here to you Marchy's

Hi, I'm from the uk, so you won't be alone

OMG Chris got a letter from USCIS in informed delivery today. :D He is sure its the NOA2 looks like notice date is August 9th. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I am crying I am so happy. My kitty Pixie is trying to comfort me because she thinks I am sad. lol Chris is home sick today so he said that when mail gets delivered in a few hours he will see if he is up to getting the mail. Hopefully he is and then we will open it on Skype together. OMG OMG OMG I am so happy. I really felt like it was never coming. Chris said to me see love you said we were getting our NOA2 last week and technically we did it was approved last week. LMAO So soon as we do I will let you all know for sure. :D

I hope all March filers get theirs today that are waiting and the rest of the February filers too that still need theirs. Looks like if August 9th is our date that was Day 149 from received and Day 146 from notice.

    Congratulations!!  this is great news

Here were my UK steps after NOA2 again (would not recommend following these steps for other embassies):

You must follow this exact order:

    1. Started calling both the immigrant and non-immigrant NVC support lines two weeks after NOA2. Called every two days until we were told the case is received
    2. Called the NVC line that said our case was received every day until they give us a case an LND number.
    3. We waited until the case checker above said "READY". https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx
    4. We completed the DS160 online and printed the receipt. You need the receipt/confirmation later (gives you the # AA).
    5. We Scheduled the medical over the phone. You will pay 300 pounds when you go to the medical.
    6. We submitted the readiness form online.
    7. We scheduled the interview online. this is when you will pay $265.00 and you will also have the option to pay for the carrier service at the same time (19 pounds). Make sure to schedule the interview 2 weeks after the medical because if the medical results are not at the embassy the day of your interview it can cause delays. Printed all of the confirmations as they are needed later. You need your LND number, the DS160 confirmation number, your passport number, your personal info to schedule. Choose option 2, the K option when asked.

You DON'T need a letter from the embassy to schedule anything or at the interview.

Read all of this too. It's where you find the phone numbers and links to do the above and other things you must understand to prep for it all:

    https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/

I'm from the UK and this is really helpful, thank you. I'm currently staying with my fiancé in Houston for a few months and will hopefully be approved before I go back and I can arrange everything beforehand.

    By the way!
How was immigration? Did the IO ask you anything? Did they see your K-1 pending?
Since you didn't mention anything I assume it went smoothly?

I've come over to Texas on a B1/B2 visa that I got last year and I didn't get asked any questions. I brought all the paperwork with me just in case they asked for it but the pending K1 visa was not mentioned
