The thing is that now in 2019 USCIS is doing last in-first out with all aos applications 🙄, therefore people that filed this year are getting processed faster than people that filed last year. The reason for that is the fact that the wait times were so long they had to grant permanent GC instead of conditional and as you may know, they’re losing profit. My priority date has passed already and i have been ‘ready to be scheduled for an interview’ since November and tbh as long as i have my work permit and when every is set and done i get a permanent GC and kiss USCIS goodbye for 3 years, I’m good with that. So just make sure you get a busy job that keeps your mind off of the wait. Travel, etc.

At what point to they issue a permanent GC instead? Based on excessive wait time?

  2. I ended up calling USCIS multiple times a day, requesting Tier II, until I finally got someone who would try to do something and not just give me the rote "There's nothing we can do. Wait up to 180 days" answer. She sent an email to someone. I'm not sure if that's what did it, but shortly after that, our case was approved and sent along the process. I have no idea why it was sent back. We're married now and in the process of having our AOS adjudicated. Best of luck! It's so infuriating, but there is hope!

  3. I've heard of quite a few people as of late who have had their cases sent back to USCIS from NVC for additional review. I thought I'd create a forum so that we can follow each other's journeys. In my case, my I-129f was approved on 1/5/18. After 6 weeks and still no NVC number, I submitted to NVCResearch and found out that my case had been sent back to USCIS on 1/26/18. Now, I can't get any information form either NVC or USCIS about my case. Each say to ask the other. I have a USCIS service request in and a request for help with a federal agency in to my congressman and senator. Has anyone else in this situation received answers, and how long did it take for USCIS to re-adjudicate your case?

    Oh man not again...

call uscis ask if they again sent it to NRC or something....

So apparently my case was sent back to USCIS from NVC for additional processing/re-adjudication, and a re-approval/decision can take up to....180 days. So starting the wait again, I guess. :((( Anyone hear of this happening before?

  5. It's been 46 days since my NOA2 was approved and NVC still doesn't have it. I emailed NVCresearch and I just got a reply saying that they RETURNED IT TO USCIS. Why would they do that?? Has anyone heard of this before?? I'm freaking out.

    " Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry regarding the immigrant visa petition:  WAC********

We returned the immigrant visa petition  WAC********  to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on 26-JAN-2018.  We do not have a record of receiving your petition back from USCIS. If you have more questions about this case, please contact USCIS."

  7. Does anyone know if they care about the Affidavit of Support information being very up-to-date? (Also, apologies if this has already been asked/answered.) I left the giant packet of information with my fiance when I left him in November, so it could be a good 4 months old by the time of his interview.

Also, I mostly lurk here, but I'm so grateful for this community. I would've gone (even more) crazy had it not been for this group. Thank you all, especially the superheroes who volunteer their time to keep us informed!

@MarksMate I hope so too!  I'm interested to see what the wait times end up being at the AKL embassy for an interview - very short for nonimmigrants but they don't give a K-1 estimate.  My fiancé is hoping to move before New Year's...and despite my best efforts, I can't temper his optimism!  Don't think it'll happen that quickly, but stranger things have happened, I guess :)

It actually looks really good for us once we get our NOA2s! If you look at the data from other recent New Zealand filers, it looks like the average for NOA2 -> receiving Packet 3 is around 25 days, Packet 3 sent -> receiving Packet 4 is 1-8 days, and Packet 4 -> Interview is anywhere from 5 to 29 days. It looks like if we're lucky, from NOA2 to visa in hand could be as little as a month or so. Of course, this is on the optimistic side of things, but the Auckland consulate seems to be one of the fastest. I'm not sure how the holidays will affect us since New Zealand is notorious for taking weeks off in December, but the consulate only technically has a couple days off. Hope this helps!

Kia ora fellow Kiwi lover! 😋 I'm so jealous you get to stay over there till he gets approved! I went to visit for a month in March and I miss it so much! Do you mind me asking whereabouts you are? XD

Important: Police certificates expire after one year, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:

    • You are more than 16 years old;
    • The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one year ago; and
    • You still live in the country that issued the certificate.

We applied for her certificates just this month, because she needed one from Japan from a foreign exchange trip and that one is supposed to take 2-3 months.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/fiance-k-1.html#6  that's a list of the documents needed for the visa. Make sure you figure out where the approved doctor is that can do his medical, I know on the South island the only one located in Christchurch... Better than Auckland when fiancee is in Dunedin but still XD

Thank you! We're living in Auckland. It's FINALLY starting to get warm, but still lots of rainy days. We can't wait to get back to California!

  10. Hi all! June 23rd filer here. I've been silently stalking this page, but now I actually have a question. :P

I'm living in New Zealand with my fiance until he gets his visa. You guys were mentioning already getting things together for when the NOA2 comes. Does anybody know exactly what our beneficiaries will need to send in and/or take to the interview? And what can we do now? Is it too soon to get police records and bank statements because they might be "outdated" by the time November (or whenever) roles around? Thanks!
