    Someone was told that Received at Local Office simply means that your records were removed from long storage and delivered to your Case Officer for action.  The VSC is your local office.  So, your records were removed from storage, delivered to your Case Officer, who the generated the RFE.  (just one of many possible explanations).  Good luck.

    We received an approval notice in the mail today! The online status changed to the note about the local office receiving the case on 2/27/18. No other changes after that, but physical approval letter is dated 3/15/18. VSC filer at WAS field office area. No interview required. Now for the N400 app next month. 😳

    Congratulations, JeanneSs!  We have a 04/21/17 NOA date.  We are so happy that you got approved.  We went back and read all of your recent posts to see your timeline since your transfer to the local office.  We are really excited and a bit relieved after waiting so many months.  Best of fortune to everyone here.

    Thank you for the tip. I checked the first EAC number on our I-797C, and My Case Was Received at My Local Office on 27 February!  :-)

    Omg you can say that again but trust me we’ll be done with Uscis very soon. They take delight in making us go crazy but soon and very soon we’re going to see lots of approvals 🤞

    That's great! Good for you. I just checked mine and it still says " your case was received last year.." But to be fair, I filed in June...I just like this thread better : )

    So I just got off the phone with L2 officer and she confirmed cases are being transferred to local offices due to backlog. She also congratulated me and said my case has been approved today...NOA date 04/05/17

    Any California applicants got approved from Jan/Feb/March atleast? I see Vermont filers of March 2017 getting their approvals. Thanks you guys. Stay strong everyone! We are all in this together.

      Just got my approval notice in the mail. It was dated 01/17 and says it's from the Boston field office. The envelope was postmarked 01/19 from Vermont. My online status never updated.

    There have been quite a few posts recently regarding traveling on an expired GC with the one year extension letter.
     
    Page 38 of this document provides some reassurance:

    It also makes clear that the 12 month extension is from the card expiry date, not the receipt date of the I-797.
