  1. We enjoy Ikea, good furniture for the price. I know people camp out in front of new stores ,usually Ikea gives the very first customer a huge shopping spree, not sure how much, but I belive a few thousand $$'s worth.

If that's true, I live about 20 minutes from where the store is going to be located.. do you think I should start camping out now?!?!

  2. With your AOS packet, you should have received a page that read "National Visa Center Barcode Sheet" and that "you must send this page back with your completed AOS package" or something to that effect.. check your documents to see if you have it. You have to send that with your documents.. it has a bar code at the bottom of the page...

  3. devblt,

I visited with my wife for 4 weeks, staying at her home. I would not, and did not, call that 'living together'.

Just out of curiosity, did you list that 2 weeks of living with your wife on your G-325A where is asks for the places where you have lived during the last 5 years? (And if not, why not?)

    Yodrak

I put my wife's address, since after marriage we "lived" together at her place for two weeks before I returned back to the USA and my I-130 got approved

    ......

If i recall correctly.. I did list the 2 week period and her parents address were we lived

  4. My Mother-in-Law has an approved IR-5 visa based on a 1999 application by her daughter, a US citizen. I am trying to fill out the DS-230 Part 1 to send to the National Visa Center per the instructions that USICS sent to the daughter.

At the end of the DS-230 Part 1 where it says Signature of Applicant- should this be left blank for now? Or do I need to send it to my Mother-in-Law ( in the DR) for her to sign it and return it to me? I was wondering if perhaps she doesn't sign it until the interivew in Santo Domingo, at which time she would sign the DS Parts 1 AND 2 in front of the CO. Or, is the "Applicant" really the petitioner? I think not, since this is a biographic form, but I'm not sure.

Also, should I send in the blank DS Part 2 from so that it accompanies her paperwork down to the Consulate? The instruction don't make any refence to Part 2 of this form.

    Thank you.

The DS230 is the actual visa application, and should technically be filled out by the intending immigrant - in this case the mother-in-law.

As you stated the DS230 is in two parts.. part 2 is signed during the interview, and part 1 is signed before submiting the DS230 part 1. Your mother-in-law needs to sign it. Some people have the intending immigrant download the form, fill it out sign it and send it to the petitioner - your wife.. others take the option you have suggested.. either way regardless of who actually fills out the form.. the immigrant needs to sign it.

As for sending part 2 in... if it is not refrenced in your instruction to fill it out and send it in.. then you do not need to send it. In most cases, the part 2 is sent to the immigrant with the interview appointment letter.. stating that they need to fill it out but to NOT sign it.. the signing needs to occur in the presense of the consulate officer during the interview

  5. On I130 form-- C. Information about your alien relative (continued)

#21. If filing for your husband/wife, give last address at which you lived together.

....What address should be given? Is it the last address we have lived together after we got married or just the last address we lived together before marriage? We never lived together as a married couple becoz he was already living in US and just went home to the Philippines and stayed for a month and married me. And also, we did not live together before we got married, he'd just visit me in my province and stay for a month or so, and I would also visit him. That was just our set up from the time we started our relationship until he left for the states...would that count as living together? And the big problem is that, my husband put my address and his address (on Section C-Q#21)when he was still living here in the Philippines plus the date from the time we started our relationship until he left for US. I'm really confused pls help?

Would that cause a problem in our I130 approval?Any idea?

I put my wife's address, since after marriage we "lived" together at her place for two weeks before I returned back to the USA and my I-130 got approved

    Good luck with your journey

  6. My I-130 was approved  .

Is it the NVC choice on which path the flow chart will go? I want to have everything complete as much as possible so there is minimal delay in the process. My sister is going to Viet Nam for New Year, so anything my wife needs sent back to the US I want hand delevered.

    Wife-

    1. Fill out and signed DS-3032 then delivered to me or have her E-mail the NVC choosing me as the agent once number is assigned.

    2. Fill out and sign DS-0230 deliver to me. I will then put NVC Case number on it to send in.

    3. Have required paperwork done for interview (medical, Criminal, etc.)

    Me-

    1. Getting my AOS completed. Which form do I use? I will be the only support and above the poverty line, so is it the EZ form.

Is there anything else I can do so as not to delay anything? Is this what I need/want to do?

From your wife's perspective, depending on the embassy, they may require you to submit more than just the DS230.. I know that some embassy's require things like the police certificate etc.. at a minimum, I think you'll need to have a photocopy of her passport bio-grapic information that needs to be submited with the DS230.. that was the case for me (embassy Mumbai India)

For you, if you meet the requirments for the EZ form, than go with that. Remember to call the IRS and get copies of your Tax Transcripts for the last 3 years.. even though it's "optional" for years two and three, it is highly recommended that you send them in.. it takes about 10 business days for you to receive them in the mail.

The only other thing I would recommend is calling the NVC on Tuesday mornings.. that is typically when they update the VRU system with updated information on your case.. rather than waiting on the mails to come to your house before taking any action..

You may also want to review "Jame's Shortcuts" that are pinned on the NVC forum.. those shortcuts will save you about a month at the NVC.. I've used them, they work and definately saved me time.

    Good luck!

  7. I have seen some people mentioned that they received some email from USCIS/NVC. how do they get your email? what point do they ask to provide you w/ an email address. So far I have only filed I130/G325A forms. any comments? thanks

Go to the USCIS website at https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp and sign up to track your case status. You'll have to create an account for yourself and provide an e-mail address. You can only do this if you have your NOA1 with an assigned case #. If you don't have this just yet, wait until you do.

Also, anytime they update information on the website about your case that is known in VJ terms as a "touch".. sometimes you'll get many touches before it's approved, sometimes (like in my case) you don't get any before it's approved.

When it is approved, and provided you've set up an account on the USCIS website, they'll send you an e-mail notification that your case has been approved, before you get the offical letter through the post.

    Good luck with your journey

  8. Are you doing an IR/CR1 application?

If so, have you paid the relevant fees for the I-864 and DS230 and submited all the relevant documentation that is required?

If the answer is yes to these questions, looking at other peoples timelines, it's taking approx 1 month for the NVC to approve individual cases, assuming everything is in order. From there when it get's to the embassy, the time to get an interview scheduled varys by embassys.

Please post and or update your time lines so we can provide you with accurate information

    Thanks and good luck.

  9. Embassy or the NVC?

The NOA2 is typically a letter from the USCIS stating that they have finished processing your I-130 and that they will be sending it to the NVC (National Visa Center) in New Hampshire. That is were they will process the actual Visa you'll have to pay several fees and fill out a couple of applications I-864 and DS230 only after that is complete will they send it on to the embassy to schedule the interview...

You don't have a timeline posted, so I can not be sure where you are in the process.. if you've completed the I-864 and DS230 then you are off to the embassy, and I don't believe that is what "we" VJ'ers call a NOA2..

    Hope that helps

    Good luck

  10. Once your family is approved and complete the POE here in the states, you'll receive a greencard in the mail within 2 weeks. Once you have your greencard, you can leave the USA and come back freely. In your daughters case, she may want to apply for a re-entry permit before she leaves the country if she plans on being out of the USA for more than a year.

I would not let your present situation hold you up in submiting the papers and getting the process stared right now.

    Goodluck!

  11. I had my wife print the application sign it and send it to me. My wife being in India. The size of the paper was slightly larger in length and shorter in width than the standard paper we use here in the states and the color was not white.. it had a slight ting of blue if i recall correctly.. I sent what the orignals my wife sent me to USCIS and they did not have any issues with that.. you should be good to go.. but again it needs to be the orginal keep photocopies for yourself though!

    Goodluck!

  12. SavyandManny,

If you are refering to the "Choice of Agent" that is actually part of the IR/CR1 process where you the petitioner can assign yourself the choice of agent, and have all the documents (before it leaves NVC) sent to you rather than the beneficary. If you are going through the K1 process, I don't believe you have an option to assign yourself as the choice of agent.

  13. Hi All,

So I sent my IV fee bill last week, and it was delivered on the 10 of Jan. I called up the NVC and the VRU system said that they have "received the IV fee bill, and will send further instruction in the next few weeks".. I was expecting the message to say that the DS230 was generated. So I called them back and spoke to the live operator. She informed me that the IV bill was accepted and that they'll be "sending out the DS230 by the end of the week" has anyone else had a similar experience?

I specfically asked if the DS230 had been generated and when the VRU would reflect that, her response was "all I can tell you is that the DS230 will be mailed by the end of the week"

I'm eager to send off the DS230 asap. If anyone has had a similar experience, what did you do? I'm debating on whether I should send of my DS230 today/tomorrow, or wait until next week when the VRU system is updated?

Any advise would be much appriciated.

    Thanks in advance

  14. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has warned that the US will take action against any country seeking to destabilise Iraq.

Her statement comes hours after US forces stormed an Iranian consulate in the northern Iraqi town of Irbil.

In a major policy speech, President George W Bush said the US would take a tough stance towards Iran and Syria, whom he accused of destabilising Iraq.

Mr Bush also vowed to increase troop numbers in Iraq by more than 20,000.

    'Vital region'

US troops raided the Iranian consulate in Irbil at about 0300 (0001 GMT), taking away computers and papers, according to Kurdish media and senior local officials.

The top US diplomat said Iran and Syria should "end their destabilising behaviour" in the region.

"The United States will defend its interests and those of our friends and allies in this vital region," she added.

She also said she was ready to meet Iran's leadership if it suspended its enrichment of uranium and pursuit of nuclear weapons.

"I repeat an offer that I have made several times, today. If Iran suspends its uranium enrichment, which is an international demand and not just an American one, then the United States is prepared to reverse 27 years of policy and I will met with my Iranian counterpart any time, anywhere."
