It was different. You will be placed in line for an oath ceremony; then, your oath ceremony is scheduled

Yes that’s correct you will be placed in line (queue) first before being scheduled for the ceremony.

It has been more than a month and there is no oath ceremony letter. Should we schedule infopass appointment ?

you can schedule an info pass if you want to but you need to wait 90/120 days after the interview date if you don’t get your oath scheduled. Sometime info pass will only tell you what you see on the ELIS and EGOV sites.

I got an RFE after my interview. I sent out the RFE response last week and USCIS received it on friday. Until now there is no update online or otherwise that they received my RFE response. Any idea how long it takes? I am stressing over it already

No one can answer that question. However, typically if they request for RFE and you respond it will take a couple days to a couple weeks and they will update your account. The good news though is once they ask for RFE and you respond in a timely manner with what they’re asking for it’s usually a positive and you should be approved within a short period of time.

What does it mean if it says, Case Was Received At My Local Office.

Does it mean they will schedule an interview? or it means we are very close to getting a GC

It means exactly what it says. Case is at your local office that serves your address where you live. Yes if you have an application that requires interview, expect and interview letter or RFE or approval notice. But your case is almost near completion.

Thank you for the help: It is much appreciated.

I apologize to everyone here if it is not of help to you (yet) and a moderator may feel free to remove it in case it does not belong here, but here is my list for the interview:

If someone could let me know if it seems complete, I would appreciate it.

     BASIC INFORMATION

    -Former and current Passport

    -Spouse’s passport

    -Green Card

    -Driver’s license

    -Spouse’s Driver Licence

    -Birth Certificate of Spouse

(DO I NEED MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE?)

    ADDITIONAL REQUIRED INFORMATION

    -IRS STATEMENTS 2015-2017

    -IRS TAX RETURNS 2015-2017

    -Selective Service Documentation

    PROOF OF BONA FIDE MARRIAGE

    -Marriage Certificate

    -Beneficiary Statements/Wills

    -Bank Statements

    -Rental Agreements for three years

    -Flight Tickets

    -Photos

    -Insurance Cards

Does this seem sufficient to you guys ?

Again, sorry if that does not belong here :-(

You are more than stacked for the interview IMO. All that in all likelihood may not be necessary if you’re N400 however it’s better to be safe than sorry. Also if you are having a combo i751 and N400 going to the interview with all those documents won’t hurt in case they ask even though you had sent with the initial i751 packet.

What my thoughts to you would be if you are applying under the 3-year marriage do whatever you can and go with your spouse. It will help you a great as some IO may be picky and may want to see your spouse. If it’s under the 5 year rule then you don’t have to.

@Anabless and @CTgal18 my oath was mailed today. Don’t know the date yet.  Didn’t receive any notifications or anything. I randomly checked the status and it shows oath ceremony was mailed .

Congratulations there hopefully it’s sooner rather than later. Wait is almost over.

But I must say, getting the every-two-weeks message that they are "working" on your case is a good thing.  At least you know you are still in the system!

Well I would say yes it’s a positive but until it takes a while and it starts agitating and making you anxious.

I feel the opposite way. I didn’t want to hear from them unless it was good news. I turned that inactivity notification setting off after receiving the first one.  :jest:

that being said some of us don’t like that bi-weekly updates as it’s terrifying as well as annoying as nothing is actual being done.

It it happened to me as I was waiting for my oath to be scheduled and keep having this false alerts. This late morning I was checking  my mails only for me to see the alert of reviewing my application and was very disappointed. Because I had a strong feeling this past weekend that I was going to receive my oath letter this week up to this morning.

Anyways as the day went I did receive an email that said an action had been taken on my case which is was elated about. Oath ceremony letter has been mailed.

Are you talking about the option 4 on the form? it is not for your husband. He is a permanent resident. He would choose the option 3. A lawful permanent resident (Alien Registration Number/USCIS Number). There he can put his USCIS# which is on his GC.

Has anyone here come across the Employment Eligibility Verification form when starting a new job? It's a USCIS document. There's a question that says asks when his work authorization expires. Technically in a year according to the I-551 stamp he has but as we all know when that time comes he will get another stamp extending it for another year if he doesn't have his new gc or citizenship by then. So should he put down the expiration of the stamp or put N/A?

Yes as @Name O Boy says you will have to put his A number which can be found on the GC as well as the i551 stamp in the passport. And you’re also right @corvusheart you will have to put expiry date as it does have an expiry date. What the employer will do in this case is about 3months or 1month before it expires HR will be notified of the impending expiration and will ask you for updated GC or stamp or passport info if you’d have one by then.

The attorney can tell your wife when to stop talking, which is no small benefit.

I cannot stress this enough. $500 is a lot of money but for a successful N400 it’s peanuts. Just like @shomermentioned don’t underestimate the presence of a lawyer that knows the law and their mere presence will make the IO not ask questions that they are not supposed to ask.

@eric1032 if you’re scared my advice is to take him with you, Citizenship is more scrutinised than Greencard. And besides if touchwood something goes wrong, he will still be available to continue to work your case.

Hi - I have a current pending N400 application filed from Houston, TX (e-filed on Feb 2018). For work I might have to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska in the next few months. Just wanted to make sure if the Anchorage field office conducts interview and oath ceremonies?

Thanks a lot for your guidance!

Your file will be transferred to the USCIS local field office that serves the address where you live. You don’t decide the office that serves you, USCIS does. It might be a close office to home or it might be an office that’s 2.5 hours away.

Had my interview on 30th April 2018. The Officer said I passed test and gave me papers that she will be recommending me for being approved and general information of the oath ceremony. Nothing is still updated online. Still showing that my notice for interview was mailed on 21st March 2018. Called to USCIS, and they told me that technically it can take up to 120 days for them to do anything. Then why do they put on the paper they give that I should get notice within 30 days? My friend who went for an interview 2 weeks later then me, got exactly the same papers from her officer and she already got an update online stating that her oath notice has been mailed out. I am so worried, of why is it taking so long? Does it mean something is wrong? I would so appreciate any input you might have. Thank you in advance!

Relax my friend nothing to worry about. You have done the hard part. If you’re clean and have nothing to cause them to open a motion against you for ineligibility then you’re fine. Sometimes when IO gives you approval recommendation, the supervisor that will review your application may be in leave or busy so until he gets a chance to see it you will have to wait.

    1. files when you are being interviewed are at the local USCIS office and they don’t schedule oath ceremony, NBC schedules oaths and until the local office forwards it to them you will not be scheduled.

    2. There is a scheduling queue, millions of other applicants are applying for immigration benefits so even if the local office forwards it early, depending on your office’s jurisdiction that performs the oath ceremony and their frequency, that will determine when you will have your oath.

    3. USCIS is a bureaucratic organisation and they are in no rush whatsoever, and WE as applicants are privileged to be granted citizenship, it’s not our birthright. There a statutory requirements (120days) when you get done with interview to when you get your oath ceremony. Until that statutory period elapses, there’s nothing you can do to make them expedite your case.

    4. Worst case scenario Sometimes IOs finish with your case and store them  either because they are on leave or some reason unbeknownst to me and they might forget about your file.

youve come a long way. I know the end is near yet faraway and want to hold that passport in your hand. Just continue to exercise patience, pray if you believe in prayers and sit tight, it will come very soon cos it seems like you’ve only been waiting for a month.

Yes, you right the system needs to be updated. Having said that a few weeks ago a VJ poster shared their experience. She had I-751 and N-400 combined and then later in the day she had a same day oath ceremony. I wonder if that's an exception. How have you been? and If I remember you are waiting for your oath to be scheduled? What does your status say online? regards

With USCIS I guess it’s a hit or miss. Maybe they had extenuating circumstances. And if I can remember I think that ind Visual’s spouse is military which qualifies for expedition. But for the most part with a combo, it’s tough..

ive been good how’re you. Yes I am still waiting on the oath to be scheduled. Egov site shows I751 transferred and N400 in line for oath and USCIS shows I751 approved and notice sent and N400approved and oath letter will be mailed.

Tough waiting times; end is so near yet so far

you're right, that would make sense. I just asked a friend who had a combo interview and she was indeed scheduled for a ceremony at a later date. I'll have photos and I'll be ready to apply immediately after, I just hope they don't wait too long to schedule the oath. And you bet I'm excited!

Yeah that’s the caveat actually.. because sometimes once they do the combo if you’re unlucky they will literally ‘forget’ to schedule you for oath..hopefully that’s not the case and you get oath scheduled early.

  12. 1 hour ago, Name O Boy said:

Since you have a pending I-751 so they might not offer you the same day oath ceremony but you never know. I would be happy to see you naturalized on July-10. You can also apply for a passport on that day. I think you would need passport pictures if you are applying for the passport after the oath ceremony. Overall it has been a very good development. Are you excited?

I wish that would’ve been the case itll be awesome. However Almost certain you won’t get same day oath. It will go through your interviewing IO review first then supervisor review and if everything looks good then a couple days you will get approval and put in line for oath ceremony. Good luck to us all

Yes it will suffice, because when you file online you can actually add the other card to the forms uploaded, once you have received it. My card took nearly a month to be delivered and I didn't want to wait to receive it to apply,  just so they could delay my application even further than ROC.  It's around 3 weeks or so before you even get your bio-metrics, so you may as well apply now and just upload the copy of your 10 year card when you receive it.

Yes I think that works however I believe documents uploaded after the application is completed and submitted will not be part of the supporting documents.

It wasn't me brother, my interview was on the 17th at 8.00AM while yours was on the 18th. I hope our oath ceremony falls on the same day.

Oh ok i see, it just clicked my mind now that I checked and saw you're columbus field office. I'm hoping I get the ceremony ASAP but my status still shows that i am in line for the oath so nothing concrete yet and also my i751 is pending not sure if that has been adjudicated.

Can some one update my timeline please....I just printed my Oath Ceremony Letter online it is scheduled for June 26th 2018...I am so excited!

Hey buddy, I'm not sure if you were the one i saw at the Columbus field office the other day with a lady in the afternoon? If it were you would've been cool to say hi lol!

Congratulations on your approval and we might be having the same oath ceremony as mine application has been recommended for approval and sent for quality review. So waiting for the oath ceremony letter now.

  16. Good day fellow members on this journey. Its been a long journey and mine still continues.

I had my interview today at the Columbus field office however, a decision could not be made and I will have to wait a bit. The interview in itself wasn't too bad and the IO seemed nice. Here is the excerpt of the interview day.

Interview was scheduled at 8AM but was at the office at 7:45 about 2 other people ahead of me and we got let in at 8:50ish through security. Once cleared security we collected tickets to be called to the reception to check every individual in. Check in was smooth and easy and about 3/5 minutes later a young gentleman probably in his early 30s (can't be sure could be less or more) came to get me. I had seen him before when I went to get my stamp though not officially.

once we got into his 'office' he asked me to remain standing and place my right hand up and put me under oath.

As soon as I got seated chit chatted a bit whilst he was looking at his computer and my file from when i filed was on his desk wide open.

Started with the reading and writing.

Read: The white house is in Washington D.C

    Write: the above sentence.

Then the 6 questions asked were:

    1. Who vetoes bills?

    2. Who do we say the pledge of allegiance to?

    3. What is the supreme law of the land?

    4. Who did the US fight in world war 2?

    5. What is the capital of your state?

    6. Cannot remember.

Then we proceeded to the N400 Yes/No questions and I was arrested by some stupid cop in NYC in 2014 for driving using my international drivers license from my country and the idiot arrested me claiming the license was forged! Unbelievable. Fortunately the DA and prosecutors after I got to court dropped the charged to driving without license for which i pleaded and just paid a fine and had a certificate of disposition. We also had some taxes that we owe to IRS and are on a payment plan and provided all documentation of that and he took copies and asked if he could keep the original as it will be good for the file. I do have to let you guys know that I have about 5 or so traffic tickets in a span of 2 years but IO didn't ask me about those as I had declared all of them in the N400 form and provided disposition for them.

He updated the N400 with the arrest which I had also put down when I filed.

He made me sign the iPad couple of places saying to cross check if everything seems ok with my name or if i wanted to change names as it will be what is going on the naturalization certificate. Said No.

After he got copies of the IRS docs he printed the letter and told me everything was fine that I had passed the N400 interview but he cannot make a decision as he will have to review my i751 file as he hadn't have time to review the file. But he should get back to me after reviewing the file in about a week or 10 days and If i don't hear from them I can make an info pass and ask to see him. Earlier in the setting He asked me if my wife and I had a child and I replied No and he said that would've been a slam dunk if we had one. He also asked if I came to the interview with my wife as I am a 3-year filer and I said NO as she was at the hospital down the road for a doctors appointment same time as my interview time.

So the waiting game continues for me unfortunately and congratulations to the ones who got theirs approve and good luck to those that are going for their interviews.

I went on the Kansas department of corrections and found the guy. Same name and birth date. He looks completely different from my husband. And the first 5 digits of his social are the same as my husbands. I called our old immigration attorney we used back during k-1 they want us to come in and show them everything so that they can verify its not going to conflict with my husbands pending ROC and N-400. Its a free consultation.

WOW! Just wow! What a coincidence and what are the odds. Unbelievable; Same name, DOB and SSN. Well my 2 cents when it comes to the immigration I'm sure you are worried but it will have nothing negative to worry about. The background check agency are just too lazy to verify the information they pulled. Maybe they just did a DOB and name check and not included the SSN as clearly that would've eliminated your husband with his SSN included in the search. So with the FBI and immigration be rest assured that they will not be that lazy and do a thorough check and make sure it is on who they want the check to be on i.e. your husband and he will come all clear.
