I don't know but this immigration system sucks. Taking way too long. You should be a legal resident a long time ago.

    Thank you. :)

I saw that @azblk filed for it last April too from Phoenix and has the interview scheduled. But it seems like he (she) started the process with a different visa, the CR-1. But I don't think the process is different, is it? Because the USCIS shows processing times for family-based AOS and that falls within this category.

I feel like crying 😢 , Phoenix office taking their sweet time to process I-485, mean while Tucson's timing is half of Phoenix , 😭 may God helps us all .

I think that might not mean much. In the former system, they were processing March 2017 by Feb 2018, so how come now they are processing May 2016? I think this new system is meaningless.

Having said that, I filed for it on April 2017 and no sign of interview yet. It's soon to be exactly 12 months now.

Omg, I was going to post about this but then couldn't bring myself to emotionally, lol.

THEY'VE REMOVED THE OLD PROCESSING TIMES. It's kind of incredible, really. So now, for my field office, instead of saying it's processing apps filed in July 2017, it says my case is still in normal processing times if I filed sometime in 2016....

They've found a way to make it better... for them.

So I got a weird random email from the DHS website saying "We're still working on your case and there's no update at this time. The last action on your case was March 19". I have no clue what that action was. :/

Anyone else get a vague email like this about their 485?

I just came here to ask you about it and I see your message, lol. So, probably a generic e-mail in an attempt to gain (even) more time and prevent calls and service requests...

I agreed with what you said, it is still in pilot-test stage and I strong belief that they will be criticized for this. It's too hidden for applicants to have an idea of the process.

In February, my wife and I booked an appointment with the field office. On getting there, we presented all the necessary documents, and the office responded; we don't even have your case with us here. I asked him why? He said we are still working on those who submitted before you and we can't request for your file until we have a date for interview. Just to let you know I filled in June 2017.

I filed it in April 2017, lol. Well, now that I have the EAD and SSC I can do almost anything I would do with a Green Card in hand. Eventually things will progress.

I am in Los Angeles County, California, and it is gonna take between 12- 30 months for cases to be done.. I don't think this new update is helping in any way. I felt what should have been done along side this, should be the regular monthly update and giving us the Month they worked on in that update. With this new process, we don't have idea on what month they have worked on. This is never accurate and I think it's a way for them not to be on top of their job and to cover up the delay from them

Yep. But let's give this system one more month to see what happens. Because for now it's not worth for anything.

. I feel like this new processing time table wants to prevent that people keep on bugging USCIS with the excuse "hey it says online that you are currently processing cases from the date XY but you received my cases two weeks prior to that date. How is that possible?"

Yeah, that's probably the case. But it's a new system, so maybe they are being very generous in their processing times for now.

  8. First, thank you for the info @azblk! And congrats for being called on for the interview!

As with all things, there will be cases that fall either sides of the estimates. Some will be processed faster than given timeframe and some will be outside of the maximum time indicated. Not all cases are created equal and there are many factors that go into the AOS process. I was personally frustrated that my EAD approval seemed to be taking longer than other people who filed around the same time as I did, then all of a sudden I got approval for my EAD and the following day I received an interview date. All you can really do is just hang in there and try not to drive yourself nuts during the waiting.

We were super diligent in double and triple checking everything before we filed. We made sure we had the current fees, we made sure we used all the latest editions of the forms and we made sure we provided all the information needed and labeled it in a clear manner (we separated each form and the supplemental information into an envelope and wrote on the front of the envelope a full contents list always including names and A# on each envelope at the top). Make sure you check your medical (if you submit one) to make sure it is filled out correctly (you can ask the Dr who does your medical for your own copy of the paperwork).

We self filed and got no RFE's or issues during the process. Preparing the AOS package carefully and thoroughly can greatly help in your case being processed in a timely manner.

Oh, yeah. We did file it in April 2017! My EAD was just approved and mailed to me this March!

And we did like you, triple checked everything. No RFEs asked until now.

My EAD was just approved and mailed to me this March!

  9. So, is this new system accurate for the family-based I-485?

    https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/#mainContent

If I understood it correctly, for my office, it could take up to 23.5 months to be approved!! That would mean that I have to wait until April 2019 (!!) to even make a case inquiry!

I hope I'm wrong. Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,

Yeah :/ it kind of worries me considering all the misprocessing that happened to my case before.

So far I just received the approval notice yesterday but nothing about the EAD card itself nor status update (and the status update seems to be working okay).

Weird weird... hopefully I’m not going to be like the ones who have to wait for 2 more months for no reason.

    thank you!

@GoodVibesOnly I have sent you a private message!

I'm not outside processing time yet. The interview notice is supposed to be coming at any minute now, but it sounds outrageous to wait 10 months and nothing yet. I check everyday hoping that I'll finally get an interview date, but every time I see that nothing's changed I just feel like nothing ever will change. It's just an extremely frustrating experience :(

I understand and sometimes feel the same. But you are close to the end of it all. :)

My attorney does not know either, she said it can come quickly or slowly who knows... I tried to find the average processing time after a RFE, and it says 60 days. My parents only want to wait until the beginning of April, which will be less than a month, so that they can get partly refunded from the vendors they hired.

So you have at least until April to cancel it, that's good. You might have your EAD/Travel card in time. I don't know if it will help much, but you can try to call USCIS to see what they say.

    Hello,

I need advice on whether or not to cancel/reschedule my wedding celebration in France (!!!) that is supposed to take place at the end of May. My husband and I booked plane tickets months ago and are supposed to leave the US on May 10th. I still do not have my EAD/AP...

    Here is my timeline:

August 15th: applied for AOS, AP, EAD, and Petition for spouse (my husband is a US citizen and we got married last July in the US. I had a tourist visa, but we decided to get married last minute instead of going back to Europe as planned)

    Mid September: biometrics appointment

February 27th: received request for initial evidence asking for extra financial evidence from my sponsor

March 3rd: we replied to the request, my attorney said she received the confirmation they received it on the next day

Like many in this thread, this whole situation is making me extremely anxious and depressed. It would be absolutely awful if we had to cancel our wedding in France, on a personal level and also on a financial one.

So do you think there is a chance that I'll get my AP in time to leave the US on May the 10th? Or should I just cancel the whole trip now to save the little money I can?

Obvious question here, but, have you asked your attorney? Do you need to cancel it now or can you wait until the last possible moment and then cancel if needed be?

    293 days, 2 SR’s and 2 calls to tier 2 later..... :(:(:(

Called once and raised the first SR.

The IO told me my case was at my local office.

First SR was ignored so I called again and asked WHERE my case is and I was told it’s still at the NBC (who to believe???) raised my second SR 19 days ago online and still it has not been assigned..

I'm slowly losing hope. It surely feels like my application has fallen into some sort of black hole. :(

How long have you both been waiting? Depending on your local office you might not be out of processing time. Also, each and every case is unique and that's why the processing time may not mean that much.

But, let me tell you, it just takes a long time. It seems like the customer representatives are there only to give you some generic answers, but you'll have to wait anyway. What might help is contacting your congressman and the ombudsman.

In my case, it took more than 300 days just to get my EAD. I don't have a GC yet.
