A question to those of you who have had their interviews (if anybody is still paying attention to this forum) ;)

We (finally) have our interview in 4 weeks, and I was wondering if any sponsors brought proof of their personal finances (such as investment / retirement accounts, property owned, value, etc). Since USCIS wants to make sure you can provide for your wife / family, I would think this would be beneficial (but I haven't really seen it mentioned on the lists of required documents).

Because a new tax year passed since we applied, I brought updated financial info and a new affadavit  of support

  2. An update on our case! We received an RFE because we didn't redo the medical examine. The worst part, we received the letter from USCIS the first day of our vacation, so we have even less time to get a doctor's appointment. Luckily it seems like there are many civil surgeons near us, so we hopefully won't have too much trouble. We'll have to come back in person next month to submit the evidence.

I'll pop back in and let everyone know afterwards!

Good luck to everyone still waiting, and congratulations for those who've been approved/received theirs!

The best I could figure out is that it's not legally necessary but plenty of officers still give you RFEs if you don't bring one. But it's a confusing topic to research, so I'm not sure.

I did find these links about it which all the say the same thing:

    Quote

K and V nonimmigrants applying for adjustment of status are not required to repeat the medical examination if the application was filed within one year of the date of the original medical examination, and:

The medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition; or

The applicant received a conditional waiver in conjunction with the K or V nonimmigrant visa or the change of status to V and the applicant submits evidence of compliance with the waiver terms and conditions. [27]

    ....

Even if a new medical examination is not required, applicants must still comply with the vaccination requirements if the vaccination record was not included as part of the original medical examination report. If the vaccination report was properly completed at the time of the overseas examination, the officer may accept the vaccination assessment completed by the panel physician.

An applicant’s overseas medical examination report completed by a panel physician should already be in the applicant’s A-file. If it is not in the A-file, the officer should request the medical examination report through a Request for Evidence (RFE).

  4. I am currently waiting for approval for our green card, we're adjusting from K1 visa. The NY office has up to 3 years as processing time, so no clue when that will go through.

The EAD/AP expired in January but I applied for renewal 90 days before expiration in October. I know that the EAD is still valid for 180 days after expiration if you've applied for renewal, but what happens if after the 180 days there has been no movement? Or if there's been a denial?

    Hey Everyone,

Just to let you know 10 MONTHS after filing. My AOS interview has finally been scheduled. I'm adjusting from a K1 visa, and my local office is Long Island, New York! I've included my full timeline before, for anyone that is in the same boat. Good luck to everyone else still waiting, fingers crossed your interviews get scheduled soon! I will write back once I've had my interview, it isn't until the 8/15, so a little bit of time yet :) I did apply for my EAD/AP renewal as it said to apply 180 days in advance of your card expiring, and it happened to coincide with my AOS interview being scheduled, but i've kept all the dates in there just incase anyone is also going through the renewal process and wants to see those dates :)

I'm also from the NY area, my status has been sitting at ready to schedule for interview since November 2017 :( I checked the processing times for Long Island, NY and it said anywhere from 10.5 months to 29 months... bit ridiculous really!

10.5 ... to 29..... oh my. well the only bright side I can see, is maybe by the time we get the our interview and our green card it won't be conditional since it would've taken so long!

    @Track13

Also you may want to try out the new website. Its alot more specific and better than the online case tracker you just have to sign up. On that website my case tracker for aos is still at ready to schedule an interview.

Checking the new site is what worked for me, thanks!

Updates: Katie has gotten a job and starts next Monday!!!

We are still waiting for an appointment for the interview. When I try to check the status of our 1485 on the USCIS case tracker I get a "user defined error" notice and cannot see any information :( I filed case status update online, but they say we'll hear back by May 15th. I am getting worried. The case tracker works great for our EAD/AP which were already approved, but the actual AOS is missing. We'll probably call as well, hopefully it's just an online issue.

okay, so someone linked the new case tracker: https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov; All looks good there, so I'm not worrying anymore

Aw thank you very much! :) Not at all, I'm in Digital Marketing/Advertising! I've got three 3 years of experience and a few internships, as well as my 4 year college degree! Honestly I was really worried about not having a lot of US work experience, but it really wasn't a problem at all!

ooo Katie is in Digital Advertising as well with lots of experience. Gives me hope!
