I'm going to do another purge of "final" statuses next week. The current list is composed of about 25% of those, so it will free up slots to add more Dec. cases since we are starting to see a good chunk of them towards the end of the list. So much so that I likely missed a few in the totals today.

Wow, what an awesome day!  Happy for everyone who got approved today! :)

  2. My fiancé called the NVC today and they said that our case has arrived, but they haven't processed it yet.  They told him to check back on Friday (one of us will check tomorrow) and they will have a case number for us.  Yay!  I know there are a few people with a February 16th approval who are still waiting, so I thought I would pass along the good news.  If you haven't called for a few days, you should definitely try tomorrow or Friday. :)

  3. We met with a lawyer before starting this process.  She didn't come out and say that we didn't need her, but she strongly implied that we had a straightforward case and could do this on our own.  We did it ourselves and got our NOA2 on February 16th.  I'm a bit nervous about collecting everything for the embassy interview.  Although we don't have our NVC case number yet, I keep checking and re-checking our documents.

If you do it yourself, I strongly recommend having a friend who is good at paperwork look over your petition before you send it.  My coworker's husband, who successfully petitioned for my coworker to come to the US on a marriage visa, looked over our paperwork.  He caught one or two boxes that we hadn't filled out, and he also caught something I wouldn't have noticed.  The city where I was born and the city where I grew up have the same name -- but they are in completely different states.  He suggested that I attach a sticky note to my petition explaining that I was born in X city in X state and moved to X city in Y state and that I hadn't made a mistake when I wrote down the names of the states.  I don't know if we would have gotten an RFE for this, but neither me, nor my fiancé, nor my mother (who also looked over our petition) would have caught this since we knew the information was correct.  It was REALLY helpful to have a completely different pair of eyes look over the petition.

  4. I have been calling the NVC every few days for the past week.  Every time I have called, they have told me to try back later.  Today, however, the NVC employee who answered the phone was genuinely puzzled as to why she couldn't find our receipt number in the system.  She kept checking, re-checking, putting me on hold, trying one more thing, and reading our case number back to me to make sure she had it right (she did this multiple times).  The good news: If you were approved on February 16th, the NVC probably has your case.  The bad news: Ours isn't there.  Part of me thinks our case will be coming in the next batch.  The other part of me fears they have lost it somehow.  Anyway, if you were approved on February 16th, definitely give the NVC a call today.

Has anyone heard of any reasons I should be aware of when it comes to why a couple should get married at the start of the 90 days verses the end?  My family is really pushing for our wedding to not be soon after he arrives, but there may be reasons I am unaware of as far as paperwork and the next phase of this journey goes, that we should really try to have our wedding date be towards the start of the 90 days.  Does it matter?  Thoughts?

We will probably get married in a civil ceremony as soon as my fiancé enters the US so we can immediately file for AOS.  He is really dreading the 3-4 months off work, so we want to get the whole process started as soon as possible.  We will have our "larger" wedding ceremony later, although we plan to keep that pretty low-key as well, with just family members and a few close friends.  We're trying to lock down some kind of a date for that because family and friends want to book vacation time from work, especially since over half of our guests have to travel from Canada (my fiancé has an enormous family).  We initially set a date for October, but a lot of our guests said that date didn't work for them, so we have tentatively set it for the summer, with the caveat that we may have to push it back to October if the visa isn't ready in time.  Thankfully, my parents live on a lake and have a beautiful yard where we can get married, so we're not super worried about putting deposits down on anything.  Right now, we have three plans:

    1) Things go quickly at the Montreal embassy (which seems to be happening at the moment).  My fiancé enters the US at the beginning of the summer and we get married at the courthouse.

    2) Things go slowly at the Montreal embassy.  My fiancé enters the US toward the middle or the end of summer, and we get married at our scheduled ceremony.

    3) Things go REALLY slowly in Montreal.  We push our tentative ceremony back to October.  My fiancé enters the US whenever he can.  Depending on how close that is to our October ceremony date, we will either get married at the courthouse or wait for the ceremony.

    Of course, we're hoping for #1. :)

Does anybody know how long it takes the IRS to send the transcripts overseas? It's been a few weeks. Worried they sent it by junk ship. :o

I am frustrated with tax transcripts too.  I live in the US, but I wasn't able to create an account with the IRS.  They require a ton of authentication to create an account.  I didn't have any concerns about the authentication because I've always been a happy, helpful, law-abiding citizen.  All of the authentication steps went well until I entered my phone number and the IRS said they couldn't authenticate it.  I think it's because the person who had my phone number before has continued to use it for all sorts of things, like signing up for loans and credit cards and not paying them.    I have had this phone number for two years and I STILL get phone calls about her loans at least a few times a month.  I want to switch my number, but not while we're in the middle of the visa process.  Anyway, since my phone confirmation failed, the IRS said they would send me a code I can use to log in.  I've been waiting for days and still haven't received it.  They did say there is a phone number you can call if you don't receive something they sent.  You might be able to use the same number to inquire about the transcripts: 888-841-4648.

Nice find and good luck! Looks like about 6 months from NOA1 to interview date if things go smoothly.

I was really happy to see that things seem to be clipping along in Montreal. :)  Did you see my adjusted date?  I was thinking two months from Packet 4 to interview, but my mental math was off, so, all things being equal, my fiancé should have his interview around the end of May.

I was reading the Canada forum and saw that recent threads were reporting 60 days post-interview to visa in hand, but then I realized that they had to submit additional evidence after the interview.  It looks like if everything goes well, he should have the visa in hand 1-3 weeks post-interview.  We're hoping that he will be able to enter the US at the end of June or the beginning of July.

Good luck to you in this process! :)

Fellow Canadian here and December filer...I probably need to check some recent Canadian timelines that have booked interviews to see what the current times are. I was anticipating 3 months, but 4 or more months of waiting is just dreadful due to overbookings.

I just looked at some similar profiles.  It looks like this couple had a little less than a 2-month wait from Packet 4 to their interview date.

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?cfl=&id=253387

    Similar timeline here:

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?cfl=&id=249188

It looks like it's taking about 2 months from NOA2 to Packet 4, and then about a month and a half from Packet 4 to interview.  If the timelines stay constant, my fiancé should have his visa interview toward the middle or end of May.

Edited because my original math was off.

Scheduling of an interview can generally take under a month to 4+ months. Some embassies are really over packed and don't have interview dates available. I recall reading a post here about a month ago about somebody from Riyadh waiting over 3 months just to get an open interview date from the embassy. That said, they do not have to process your case within 4 months. The 4 months is just the expiration for the underlying I-129F petition. The embassy should extend this by another 4 months if you keep it active (or auto extend it if it's waiting on something from them).

Yeah, we're expecting a long wait with Montreal.  We're hoping that it will go quickly, but we have heard it can take over four months to schedule an interview.  They're pretty overbooked.

Thank you Geo for all your help. My receipt dated 11/16 based of the scan you run when do you think I should hear back about my NAO2?

You could hear any time.  Our receipt date was 11/21 and we got our NOA2 on Thursday.  It can be really frustrating to see people ahead of you get their NOA2 when you haven't gotten yours yet.  Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.  You should get your NOA2 really soon!

  12. 1 hour ago, KimchiLumpia said:

Hey MapleLeaf29! Congrats on your approval!  Yes the wait is definitely a pain...but its nice to finally be on the other side of the process.  Its also awesome having people on VJ give their advice because they've gone through the process as well.

Tomorrow will be officially 2 weeks since my fiance and I got our NOA2 approval, so I plan on giving NVC a call to see if they have her case number.  The VJ member's reviews on the Montreal Embassy and what to expect are very informative as well.

My fiance and I are fortunate that we live a two-hour car ride away (Seattle/Vancouver), and are able to see each other often.  So, we're not in a major rush.  We're hoping May interview with a late June entry.  We just want to make everything is done correctly and any unforeseen expenses are covered.  Like the application fee hikes and the fact Vancouver no longer conducts K1 Visa interviews.  We are looking forward to visiting Montreal though, neither of us has ever been.

Good luck the rest of the way, and I'll keep you posted on the interview scheduling process.

That's so nice.  My fiancé is in the GTA, so it's about a two-day drive for us to see each other.  We still manage to visit each other every 2-3 months, but it's not nearly as handy as being able to take weekend trips.  I used to live in Seattle and frequently went to see friends in Victoria on the weekend, which was really doable.

We are hoping for a late June or early July entry date.  We'll see how it goes!  I am thankful to be on the other side of the NOA2 hurdle.

    Thanks for keeping us updated!

    Hey Canada forum!

We got our K1 Visa approval and are waiting for the NVC to send out paperwork to my Canadian fiance.

We were just curious to know what days of the week (Monday-Friday) are K1 Visa interviews conducted.  What days were your options when you made your interview?

Thanks in advance, and congrats to everyone who's successfully completed the process.

Hey, fellow November filer!  We just got our NOA2 on Thursday, so we're a couple of weeks behind you. :)  We are really looking forward to getting our case number and scheduling our interview!  We know we still have a ways to go, but being together feels closer. :)  I would love to hear how booked Montreal is currently and how far out you have to schedule your interview.

  15. 2 hours ago, Anatti87 said:

Question for filers who already recieved NOA2's ....whats the estimated time from the time you get the NOA2 to Interview?? Just wanted to see so I can get an Idea of when yo use my vacation time....☺?

I think it depends on the embassy.  People on the Canada sub-forum report that the Montreal embassy, where my fiancé will have his interview, is sometimes booked out for a few months.  As soon as we get our case number, their recommendation was to take the first interview slot available, then check back every day to see if there have been any cancellations.  However, Montreal is one of the slower embassies, so Mexico could very well be a lot faster.
