Just FYI, the requirement to have IRS transcripts or IRS certified tax returns is included in the instructions for N-400 and the N-400 document checklist.

    Page 11 of N-400 instructions:

    (e) Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you and your spouse filed for the past 3 years (or an IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years).

Page 1 of N-400 Document Checklist:

    b. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past 3 years; or

    c. An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years

This is an important note for people who previously used regular tax returns for prior parts of the immigration journey. IRS Tax transcripts are the safest bet.

Good to note. We provided the certified tax returns but he also wanted the transcripts and receipts. Those are super easy to get on the website so I would just recommend bringing them just incase because I was kicking myself.

    Hello!

I had an interview for N400 at the beginning of July and officer asked to submit response to RFE that they issued that same day. As soon as I got home I submitted it and portal says “uscis has received the response“.

is there any timeline I should expect next steps? It’s been >2 months now.
I tried to submit e-request to uscis support but they say my case is within the timelines.

Any ideas or recent experience with RFE for N400 in Seattle appreciated!

Did you ever get a response from them?

I got an RFE for tax payments because according to them we didn’t pay our taxes (we pay in advance and then pay the final amount) but it seems on their end it shows not paid even though it was. They wouldn’t except just the tax returns either. Ugh

    Hello everyone,

I am glad to report that I passed my interview this morning. The officer was very pleasant. We chatted throughout the interview. She asked me 6 questions: What is the highest court of the US? What is one promise you make when you become a citizen? Who was Martin Luther King, jr? Who is the commander of chief of the military? What is capital of the US? Name one senator from New York, Then she asked to write that The president lives in the White House. She said I will receive the oath letter within 2 weeks. My journey to become a US citizen is almost over.

    Congrats!!!

Very nice surprise given the estimated timeline was originally about 12 months.

Oooo congrats!! Really hoping to get mine soon at Seattle! Let us know how it goes and good luck!

  6. My ROC case that was approved back in July 2021 and with which i received my card has now changed status last week to "Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction". I also received a letter in the mail this morning with this new status on the case.

Has this happened to anyone else? I do have a pending N400 that I applied for in November 2021...

Does anyone know what the next step after this is, do they send a notification that we mailed your card or do they mail it. Also for those who have got their cards , how long did it take for you to get it after the status changed to approved

I just received my card in the mail. Was approved on the 14th so it’s super quick. 8 days from approval to card.

    Can this be fixed?

I'm so sorry! That's horrible to get.

From reading it, it sounds like they want more evidence of your marriage from before 2020. A lot of your evidence is dated within 2020 only. They love joint tax files for all the years you are married, joint lease agreements for all years together, credit cards together etc.

  10. Hi all,

I sent my ROC in end of November (still waiting like everyone else) but I realised I never removed restrictions on my SSN when I first got my green card, too busy with work and life to go in.

Looks like the social security offices are doing appointments only and I've been on the phone to try make one the last hour.

I'm wondering if I need to do this before the green card expires or could I wait until the 10 year green card arrives or I get citizenship (whichever happens quicker)?

    What did everyone else do?
