Hello all. Glad to be with family from the same group. I got my NOA 1 on 12/7 with a received date of 12/1. Lets hope the noa1 to noa2 time drops significantly. It was approximately 50 days in Nov/Dec of 2016. 

What would be my options if we decide to go through  with the religious ceremony in August before K1 approval  (she comes as a visitor and then returns back to Canada)? 

I am wondering if CR1 would be a better option now. When I filed, I was told K1 takes 4 to 5 months. Never realized the Timeline would shift so badly.

That question was in regards to the religious ceremony and her coming for that. This question is related to the time line solely. 

I received my NOA 1 on Dec 1, 2017 for my K1. I want me fiancee here for a ceremonial wedding in August. She is from Canada.

Based on current K1 processing times, how likely is this to happen (approval of K1, medical, and interview)? 

I am afraid witb the current delays in getting to the NOA 2, we may not get the visa before August. 

Thank you all for your responses. Noticing how the California Service Center is taking longer to approve the K1 is what is driving my fear of the delay. Anyone know if the timeline on VJ includes those who received RFEs and thus had to extend approval time?

I do agree that showing any evidence of the ceremony will lead to suspicion of a marriage. In the K1 packet, I wrote down that we will be doing the religious ceremony on August 25 and then after doing the official registered marriage.

I filed a k1 petition for my finacee living in Canada and I have a NOA1 date of 12/1/17. In our petition, we front loaded information (hall rental, caterer,etc.) of our religious ceremony scheduled for 8/25/18. The religious ceremony at the temple is not official in the sense that it is not registered with the state.

My question is: Considering worst case, if my finacee is not able to get her K1 approved by 8/25/18, can she still come as a visitor and do the religious ceremony and then go back right after the religious ceremony and finish the K1 processing (medical exam and interview) in Canada?

Took 7 weeks to the day. Paid $45 downtown. Literally was the form I had filled out sent back to me with a sticker on it and some confirmations. All of that waiting for THAT? Crazy. I'm so glad I went to get it long before I received Packet 3, because a 2 month wait is a bit much for a sticker.

 

The same police check is done through registered businesses almost instantly... takes a few days.... but since this is for immigration, it takes a lot longer to get that hard copy back.

Did you do your check via Commissionaires or through police station?

Hello community, I have a question regarding the K-1. When you receive packet 3, is there a time limit for when you have to collect your documents and send the packet 3 checklist Back? I am asking because my fiancee is from Canada but she may be traveling to India for 3 weeks around the time we anticipate the packet 3 and 4 to come. Any advise would be nice. Thanks!!

I am stumped on what to put for "Item Number" in Part 8 "Additional Information" sheet for additional jobs I have done withing the past 5 years. Do I list 13-16.b (the item numbers for the first employment portion of the 129F)?

Had a question regarding setting up the interview for the K1 (Specifically in Canada). I know that Packet 3 comes in the mail and asks you to gather certain documents. Is there a deadline for when all these documents have to be gathered and Packet 3 sent back to the Consulate? 

Next question would be, is there a deadline for when the medical exam and interview can be taken for Packet 4?

The reason for my questions is my Finacee in Canada is planning to Visit India for wedding shopping  in India around the time we expect to get packet 3 and 4. Hopefully there is not a conflict and we have flexibility when we send in packet 3 and 4. 

Do you submit 2 passport-size photos when submitting the i-90 for Green Card renewal? The instructions on the USCIS website does not mention sending photos but doing some online searches mention sending them in with the application. Please help. Thanks!

I am filling out the 129F for my Fiancee. I have had 4 jobs in the last 5 years. The 129F form has only 2 spots (page 2) to put in details on 2 latest jobs. I understand I have to use Part 8 (additional information) to put in the remaining two jobs. My question is, what item number do I reference for Part 8 when I am filling it out? The Employment History section is part of Part 1 but there is no specific item number for it. Do I use 13 to 16.b (the same item numbers as first employment history item numbers on the form)?  Any help is appreciated.

Yes. Issue Resolved. Shaadi.com sent me a letter (see attachement)

they try and aak you to submit a story but explain that you need to speak to their legal team or email legal@shaadi.com and explain for evidence to show that they are not a imbra.

 

they get this quite often and they will send it to you! It works...I got my noa2 approved after a week and just had the k1 approved today! 

Congrats!! How long did the whole process take from Filing to NOA2?

I am beginning to fill out my 129F for my Canada Fiancee and had a question regarding the employment section. Prior to the full-time job that I currently have, I worked for a company through a temp hiring agency. The temp agency contracted me to the company. On the 129F do I have to mention the temp agency I worked for or the company I worked for?

 All that matters for a CR-1 visa is that the marriage is legal in the place where it happened. If you are legally married in Canada then you are married in the eyes of immigration here in the USA. It doesn't matter how big or small the ceremony was.

Hello. I am a US Citizen living here in California . My Fiancee is Canadian Born and lives in Winnipeg. We are determining if the I 130 process would be ideal for us over the K1 Visa route. My question is can I file I 130 after getting a court marriage in Canada (No religious ceremony) and then when she comes here to America, we do the religious ceremony? Will the court marriage certificate be enough proof for immigration? We have already met in person and had a small enegagament ceremony here in California. I want to make sure the immigration officer doesn't see this as negative. Thank you!

As it turns out, I emailed Commissionaires Ottawa and they responded promptly: they are going to send me a more official version of the certificate, with a dry seal and signed by a police chief. I think that will do the trick.

Hello Again! Any update if the name-based search you did with the Commissionaires was acceptable? Did they ask for fingerprints? Please let me know as I am in the same boat.
