(Cross-posted from the N400 Seattle thread)
Today was the day!
Seattle appointment at 10:15am, delayed slightly by a long and slow queue to get checked in.
My interview was with a very friendly officer from the Spokane office via an iPad.
In total it took about 20 minutes, and I was approved right there. My questions were (can’t remember the exact order):
- Who signs bills in to law?
- Name a US territory?
- What party is the President part of?
- What month do we vote for president?
- How long do we elect a senator for?
I had my own USCIS binder of paperwork with me (copies of all my previous filings, plus copies of birth certificates, marriage certificate, and updated bank and mortgage statements), but none were asked for. After the call was done (and I signed the final bit of paper) they took my green card and directed me back to the waiting room, letting me know it would be about an hour’s wait until I could take my oath.
In less than 10 minutes a group of six or eight of us were called in to a room and the officer checked we were all there, reading out our names from the stack of citizen ‘packs’. Then we read out the oath, and were handed our packets! All done!
She advised us to get going with our passport applications, as the wait time is like 3+ months right now (I have my appointment booked for tomorrow for some time now) and before I knew it I was back out at my car and on my way home. I registered to vote using the online form right when I got home!
I want to extend a massive thanks to everyone here; when my dates were months away, it was awesome to follow along with you all as you made your way through the system. I wish everyone else who’s still waiting the very best and know it will all be done in time.

Hey everyone, so doea the Portland office conduct same day Oath ceremonies?
Based on the experiences of those in this thread, it seems to vary.
Some interviewees were offered same-day (either short wait, or several-hour-long wait), some were not offered but eventually got oath dates for the Seattle office (within a couple weeks, if I remember correctly).
I didn't see enough cases in this thread to determine a pattern. We've also not seen a Portland interview notice since early July (according to the tracking sheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FcItCasVItCDsUNEbDu15IRQ-AbDMRJWsiljwtz5WRI/edit?usp=sharing), so who knows if they're still passing cases down there.

Congrats! And you're getting seen before me, so it all worked out in the end (more or less!)

I am wondering why they skipped the rest of April 2020 and May 2020 fillers and doing interview for June fillers!
It may be a luck-of-the-draw thing; if a general stack of forms were sent out to Spokane for processing and that office is working faster/has a smaller load than the Seattle office processing team, those interviews might come up first.
Dozens of other things could also affect processing times - 3yr vs 5yr, country of origin, responsiveness of any other agency involved in background checks.
But my guess would be that a load of case files were diverted to Spokane because they had availability and they just got through the work quicker.

My biometric notification has been issued on 8/7 and appointment date is 9/1. Wondering if anyone tried to do an early walk-in for biometric in Seattle center and was successful. Thanks
It was hit-or-miss before COVID; right now I'm fairly certain that they're not letting anyone in without a letter or prior authorization. Sorry!

Your submission date is only 2 weeks ahead of mine. Did you apply under the 5 year rule? Maybe it gives hope for a change to my account??? 🙇🏼♀️
I applied under the 3 year rule, married to a US Citizen (our 5th wedding anniversary is this November).

Well, not even 24hrs after I joked about being a week out, when I signed in to check just now I discovered my interview has been scheduled! Hooray!
Tuesday Sep 28 @ 10:15am in Tukwila
Mine also has the Spokane Field Office address at the bottom of my letter, like @swadesi above.
Note: no email or text notification, I was just doing my daily 'I wonder if anything has changed' logging in and saw the update.

@TamHMB : Am I seeing this right ? From online filing to interview its was a total of < 2 months(ONLY 🤯 )!! Does this mean processing time in the Seattle USCIS office is coming down generally ?
I think there's a typo there! @TamHMB's spreadsheet entry shows a May 2020 online filing.

Update about interview:
Filled: 01/26/2020
Bio: 02/18/2020
interview Notice: 06/07/2021
Interview Date: 07/22/2021
Got in at 6:45 for a 7 am interview. I was called a little after 7 to get into the office with an ipad on the desk and officer is online. She was very super nice. ... I waited few more, and by 9:45 the same officer who escorted me out came and called few names and we are taken down to the oath room. We were only less than 10 people. We took the oath and then handed the certificates. I was out by 10 am, so overall was about 3 hours and 15 minutes door to door.
Congrats!

Just adding my experience:
N-400 Based on employment (5 year rule)
Application Submitted: Jan 7, 2020
Bio Metric: Jan 11, 2020
Interview Notice Date: May 25, 2021 (Tukwila Office , I live ~35 miles north to seattle office)
Interview , Oath , Cert: 7 July, 2021
My wife case:Application Submitted: March 8, 2020 (cause she received green card couple of months after me so had to wait for 5 years to complete)
Bio Metric Reuse notice : June 10, 2021
Interview Notice Date: Jun 11, 2021 (Tukwila Office , I live ~35 miles north to seattle office)
Interview , Oath , Cert: 21 July, 2021
Interview process was pretty straight forward. We have passport appointment scheduled for 26th. I think someone mentioned earlier USPS appointments opens at midnight for a month later date. that worked for me and will recommend people to do that.
Thanks and congrats to you both!
If you could fill in those details on the tracker spreadsheet, it'll help us all out with keeping an eye on how long things are taking.

Folks, found some good news on my profile just now. Interview schedule notice received just one day before prediction! Interview in Seattle. I updated the sheet, keep updating the sheet, it working!
Awesome; great news!
Geographically, are you north or south of the Tukwila USCIS office?

Has anyone recently received biometric appointment notice from Seattle office? If so, could you please let me know your N400 filing date? I am January 2021 filer. Need to do biometric here since I never did in USA. But I need to plan for an international travel . I don’t want to miss the biometric appointment also. So trying to get an idea about what month’s applicants are getting scheduled for biometric now. Thanks.
Check out https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FcItCasVItCDsUNEbDu15IRQ-AbDMRJWsiljwtz5WRI/ to see other users from this thread tracking their dates (and add yours if it's not already there).
Might not explicitly answer your question, but might help you track your activity with those who filed around you.
Years ago, you might have been able to speed up the process with a walk-in for biometrics, but not anymore. I'd take any date range you do find now with a large grain of salt; things are so variable right now I would not be comfortable planning any international travel within at least a year of applying.

Just saw a notice of interview in the documents tab. Did not receive any email/text notification. The notice is dated July 08th and interview is on August 9th in Tukwila office.
Congrats!
Friendly reminder - don’t forget to update the spreadsheet!

@Squishinator, I see you sent your application in December 2020 and you already have an interview, did you expedite? Did you file under the 3 or 5 year rule? I would love to know, and if anyone else has intel on this one incase she doesn't see this, please chime in. Thanks!
My assumption with these outlier/short-turnaround naturalizations is that they are military-connected, and thus get processed quicker.

Got an email this morning (3am) saying that USCIS has taken action on my case. I logged in but the only difference I see is that the time until decision went down from 10 to 2 months (which I think is good), but there nothing new under the documents section.
I had exactly the same thing. Same email, same change in timeline.
I remain skeptical that anything has actually changed.

Well, I've now passed that 365 day mark since filing my N-400.
Has anyone been noticing any patterns aside from south-Seattleites being punted to Portland?
I originally filed with an I-751 in progress (which was then processed and completed separately) and didn't have an interview for that (but had one at AOS).
My filing is under the three year rule, as I'd been married to my husband and held a green card for >3 years. I received a biometrics re-use letter before the holidays.

A (slightly selfish) reminder for folks to continue updating the google sheet at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FcItCasVItCDsUNEbDu15IRQ-AbDMRJWsiljwtz5WRI/edit#gid=1497976778 - it's been crucial in keeping my anxiety at bay seeing the rows get updated over time.

Wow😮!!!
Count yourself lucky - here in Seattle it's looking like it'll be November before I even have my N-400 interview.
Was informed just before the holidays that my biometrics are being reused, but based on current tracking, I'm not expecting to be seen by USCIS until mid November this year.
Any other long-term waiting folks here?
-
A colleague of mine (not on this forum) filed in Nov 2019 and now has his interview scheduled for Feb 5th.
(I don't know any more details as it was mentioned in passing.)
-
Have a USCIS letter arriving today (thank you USPS Informed Delivery), so I logged on to myUSCIS. Nothing obvious had changed, but on checking the 'Documents' tab for my naturalization application, I saw a new letter dated 12/14/2020.
'Biometric Reuse'
Body of the letter is as follows:
U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has received your form and is currently processing your application, petition, or request. This notice informs you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and use your biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded.
USCIS is continuing to process your application, petition, or request. USCIS will contact you in writing if any additional information is necessary to resolve your case.
So, I am appreciative that they can (a) reuse my relatively recent biometrics (last year), (b) I won't have to go back to the service center until my interview, and (c) made it super clear that they are actually reusing - I know there was some confusion on some of the threads here on whether this was happening. Still not on track to have an interview until late summer 2021, but this at least helps.
Happy holidays everyone!

I had the same thing!
I let the jury office know I wasn't a citizen yet so couldn't participate (I had no real way of knowing if the interview process would be problem-free).
Within two weeks of my successful interview I got a new notice. That new summons, frustratingly, conflicts with an upcoming vacation, so it's now rescheduled for early next year.
