Angelica48 reacted to Sarasota in AOS June 2017 Filers!
    Hi guys.

I went to an infopass appointment today - the officer said she agrees with me that I don't need another medical and will pull my file sometime this week

The issue was my DS-3025. London medicals don't tick either 'complete' or 'incomplete', but instead write on page 2 'vaccination requirements complete'

I showed her page 2, which she says might not have been in my file (I 100% sent it). She said if it was in my file then it's an oversight and she apologises.

Hopefully it will be resolved now, but I'm not going to get too excited JUST yet...

Finally received the welcome letter, AOS approved and now waiting for the 10 year green card, hope they won't make a mistake and send the 2 yr conditional or else we
will have to send it back.
It was a loooong visa journey and a loooong AOS pending with 2 EAD/AP renewals. Details in my signature.
    Filed AOS May 2015
    Interview  Sept. 2016
    Home visit July 2017
    Oct 2017 approved.
Numerous service requests, infopass, tier 2 calls, Ombudsman, senator were useless. I contacted another senator last week and that did it finally.
IO said it would take 2-4 weeks after the interview to get approved but it turned into a year's wait instead.
Just thrilled to be done with AOS and off to naturalization next.

Can't believe I'm finally writing this, today my green card was approved!

Our appointment was at 7:15am at the San Bernardino Field Office CA, we arrived at 6:45 but were let in at around 7.
We went through security (just like at the airport) and then up to the second floor.
They called our name at 7:40, the officer was extremely nice and we followed her to her office. She made me take an oath (not my husband, the USC)
She took my fingerprints again and a picture. Then proceeded to check both our birth certificates, marriage certificate, my passport.
She asked all the yes/no questions from the I-485, verified our address, asked about any children, about whether I was part of any organization, criminal records.
She asked how we met, where our first date was, how my parents felt about the wedding
Then, she asked for evidence of bonafide marriage. We gave her copies of bank statements, health and life insurance, car title and car insurance. She was happy that we had copies of everything but said she could have taken photocopies if we hadn't. She also asked about a lease agreement but my husband owns our house so it was ok not to have that.
After this, she asked about pictures. She was happy with our court house pictures, even though we had a "real/proper" wedding after (we had prepared a whole album) and photocopied them.
Laughingly said she didn't need to separate us and then proceeded to tell us we had been approved. She printed a letter confirming this and that in 90 days tops we should receive the card but that it usually takes about 3 weeks.

It sounds like a lot but we were out of the office by 8am. We were her first interview and she commented that she was happy to start her day on a happy note.
As we got into the car I received an update saying that card was being produced.

There's usually one or two more updates after that. One where it says, "Case Approved" and another saying, "Card has been mailed to you". The card usually arrives within one week after the card mailing notification.

Just received my EAD card in mailbox!:)
it's a USPS priority mail with tracking number, sent on 09/20 and arrived on 09/23, so 2-3 business days shipping.

So if after" card was mailed", you don't receive the cards in 2-3 business days, try to call them, they have the tracking number in hand.:)

I just attended an immigrantion event in my city where a representative from USCIS just gave a presentation along with a congressional liaison and staff members from my local congressional offices.  It was a great presentation where I learned a bit more about AOS, which we'll start after my fiance arrives next month and we get married, along with the naturalization process.  There were a few tidbits that I heard/was told today that I thought I'd share here:

As of October 1st there will no longer be any interview waivers for AOS.  This was confirmed to me by both the USCIS officer and the congressional liaison in separate conversations.  The USCIS officer said to expect AOS to start to take even longer because they are sending everyone for an interview, including K1, from now on, no more waivers.  Also, as of right now, there is no plan of increasing staff to help with the increased number of interviews at least in my district. The congressional liaison and one of the congressional office staff members stated that they are projecting/seeing an average of 5 months for EAD now and going forward. I asked about front loading the AOS application and they encouraged this, within reason, as this will help the officers see evidence of the marriage and relationship before the interview. They also stated that they are currently seeing an average of 8 months for all AOS applications and, if the medical expires during this process since it's only valid for 1 year, to wait until the interview before deciding to do another medical exam.  They said at the interview they will inform us if another medical has to be done but that they might be doing waivers for another medical since they realize a medical has been done recently, the cost of the medical exam, and how long it's taking them to get through AOS applications at this point.  They stated, if another medical is required, that we will have 30 days to complete that and get the documentation back to the local offices.
Unfortunately I also received some bad information from a SSA representative while I was there about obtaining a SSN and I only knew it was bad information because of these forums.  The SSA representative told me that my fiance cannot get a SSN until after he receives his EAD.  I tried to clarify that this was for a fiance (K1) visa and I thought the rules were different for that but the SSA representative insisted my fiance can't get a SSN until his EAD comes back.  I'm thankful for these forums to know that is not the case and to know which documentation I will need to take to the SSA office here after his arrival to show them proof.

Hope this information is useful/helpful for those going through/about to start the AOS process.
