AMW got a reaction from RJandHamid in To attend Interview or not attend interview (Petitioner)
Even if you can't attend the interview but you're able to be in the country at the time I've heard of people bringing in flight itineraries and passports of their anxious fiance's who are waiting outside the embassy doors - to prove they came for support. It's worth a try. Good luck!

Which country is the interview taking place in? Many embassies/consulates do not allow anyone but the beneficiary to attend the interview, so you may have to wait outside if that is the case. Usually attending the interview is not a "make or break" situation, especially in low fraud countries. If you can provide proof of a recent visit like the one you are planning, that is usually sufficient additional evidence.
It's really difficult to predict NOA2 at this point. "Average" is little over 90 days, but you could be waiting a bit longer than that or rarely a bit less.

AMW reacted to O&GForever in I130 Denial
I am so sorry to hear about your denial. My husband and my K1 were denied the first time around. We got married, applied for the CR1, and succeeded. I share this to give you some hope that it is possible to get through the Ghana embassy after a denial. It's just going to take some time and probably more trips to Ghana on your part.

I hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions.
What other questions did they ask your hubby? Did you and your husband go over questions before the interview to practice? They are very tough during the interviews. If they suspect one wrong answer, they often deny....even if they answer is true.   Did you marry on your first trip? If so, this is another red flag in Ghana.  Did you submit evidence ahead of the interview or take most of it to the interview? With this embassy the COs tend to make up their mind ahead of time. I've noticed if they plan to approve the visa, they are a little easier on the questioning. If they planned to deny, it doesn't matter what your answers are. I am going to guess the age gap is part of the reason since it goes against the cultural norm in Ghana. You have multiple trips, which is good, but if you only had two before and during the visa process that could be seen as an issue as well. Time together is gold for this embassy and the best evidence you can submit.

The first thing you need to do is contact your local Senator or Congressman. Ask them to contact the Ghana embassy on your behalf and try to find out why you were denied. If you can find out the reason, that will help you figure out how to proceed. We did this after our K1 was denied and it gave us a clear direction moving forward. From my understanding, most of the time the COs reasoning is false, but you will have time to respond during the appeal process. Expect about 12-18 months to find out if the USCIS will revoke or reinstate your case.

There are many people on the Ghana portal who have also had their spouse visa's denied. You should check out this feed. It will give you some insight into what others in your situation are doing and hopefully help you connect with others in your situation.

Again I am so sorry. I know the pain of being told no and being separated from your loved one.

AMW got a reaction from LoveuAlan in What kind of questions do they ask in the airport?
Does your fiance have a connection flight? Wherever his plane first lands on American grounds he will go through immigration. There will be a line for American citizens and Non-Americans. He will go through the Non-American line. We he gets to the front he will be asked for his passport. When they see his k-1 visa they will ask for the yellow packet - most security agents will be familiar with this packet. They may ask his intent to enter the states - to get married, remind him he needs to be married within 90 days, and welcome him to America. That's generally how it goes, however, some people may have more questions asked - it's just the luck of the draw. If he doesn't speak English he will not be denied. Chances are he might be asked to step aside so an interrupter can translate for him.

If his plane flies directly to your town that will be great for him! Just through customs and then he's all yours. If he has a connecting flight he will go through customs at his first stop, board his connecting flight, and just be able to exit (without customs again) at his final destination and meet you.

As for not being able to enter the airport... I haven't heard this. You may want to ask someone familiar with the airport you will pick him up from or call the airport directly.

After you're married take your marriage certificate to the SSA to change his name. After he receives his new SS card that can be taken to the DMV to get a new ID/License. You should do all this before AOS and then fill out the application with his new name.

AMW got a reaction from PedroDaGr8 in K1 Interview disappeared from Embassy Schedule
Keep your head up! I've also heard, unfortunately, that some embassies have more glitches and bumps than others. I was introduced to a friend of a friend, who happened to be an immigration attorney. When I told her we went through the Ethiopian Embassy she gave me the biggest eye roll I've ever seen and said it's one of the most problematic embassies she's ever seen. We made it through though! Best of luck. Sending positive thoughts your way.

I was told by a friend when her brother's wife went to interview in West Africa (I've forgotten the country) the entire computer system at the embassy shut down two days before. When it restored some interviews were cancelled and some were restored. Hers was cancelled by had all the documentation of when her interview was. It took some extra time at the embassy but eventually she was interviewed that day (and passed).

I think as long as your fiance has all the right papers she will get in. I assume if it was truly cancelled/rescheduled there would have been a notification. Fingers crossed for you!
