Interview notice 03/01/23
Interview 04/20/23 (APPROVED)
IO asked if i have photos with white background since somehow the ones they have on file had blue. I didn't know that so i didn't bring any with me. IO said they can change it but it's been over a week since the interview and no oath scheduled. I hear people get their scheduled within a week. Hopefully this photo background issues is not going to prolong it. I've seen posts on here with similar case history especially the oath ceremony canceled but they were getting notifications fairly quick after that. Maybe i'm just being impatient.

I’ve read in this forum to bring an extra set of passport-style photos to the interview because sometimes they can’t use the ones from biometrics - for those that have yet to have their interview!
Thanks again for sharing your timeline!
And just like that my case updated today with oath scheduled for 06/05/23.

Thanks! I'm in Westchester. I guess i didn't do my research :/. Hopefully they don't take 120 days to get the background "changed" or RFE me for the photos. I see people getting scheduled for the oath that had interviews around and after my date it doesn't look too promising. gotta stay positive.

Exact date won’t be needed. If filing online and the form requires a peruse date, enter a date that you know for certain is after her date of naturalization. Then attach a statement from you that says the date is approximate because the naturalization certificate was lost but regardless naturalization occurred after you reached age 18.
If filing by paper, enter the year of naturalization if you know it. Otherwise use the same strategy as above.
Are you a male?
Thank you Mike. I'm filing online. I'll add few month buffer to what i think my mother's naturalization date was. That's a great idea with the statement. I think the form allows to attach files/docs too so i can use that section for explanation. Yes, i am a male.

8-11 month wait time for cert copy. Will FOIA be any faster?
Also no copy available 😕

I disagree, the answer matters. OP may be a US citizen already, depending on several factors. Some of them:
- How old OP was on the day his mother naturalized
- Whether they lived together at that time
I was 21+ so couldn't obtain GC as an immediate family member. Did not live together either.

As the answer doesn’t affect the outcome of your case (At All) I’d put “unknown” and submit it
I do not see it affecting the outcome either, since her A# needs to be entered the naturalization status can be most likely tracked using that.

21+ see my earlier reply. thanks

Hi,
I was 21+ so i couldn't obtain GC through being a minor. Sponsored under F2B 245i (check SIG)

What's the rush? Get all correct info, then apply. Does she have a photo of her holding naturalization certificate at the ceremony? FOIA is also an option.

Hi,
I'm ready to file for N-400 and under Family section it's asking if any of the parents are USC. I got GC through my father who is still GC holder. My mother got naturalized around 2013 but due to missing naturalization certificate i can't get the date that N-400 asks for (both parents but since father is GC that info is not required for him). I do have her A # that's also required on the app. What are my options to get my application moving? Getting copy is a long wait from what i read online (8-11 months). I've seen some posts on reddit that suggest to enter approximate date and explain to officer at the interview the situation. I can bring copy of her passport if needed. Does anyone know if estimated date would be enough to satisfy that requirement? No photocopy was every stored in digital format either. If anyone heard of similar situation please let me know if approximate date would work.
Thanks

be relaxed and answer all questions honestly. also have copies of all the documentation submitted just in case. other than that just be polite and dress appropriately, just like you would for a job interview. good luck!

They stamped yours because you had plans to travel?
i never said IO stamped my passport.

Did they ask you why you answered it YES/NO?
I thought they only stamp your passport if you are approved on spot and travelling outside of USA?
nope, they didn't ask my follow up on the YES/NO. I think you're right with the approved on the spot, however sometimes IO just says to wait for the GC

They asked every single Yes/No questions from I-485? because the new version has lots of those questions. Do you just give the name of company and job title? They needed the Passport to stamp it because you were going to travel or just to make copies?
yeah yes / no from i-485. they may not ask all but why would it matter. i'm self employed so that's what i told the io. just to make a copy of the passport. i think you only get the passport stamped to confirm your i-485 is approved and you can use that to travel until you get your gc, but why would one risk it. gc comes within 2-3 weeks.

1 hour ago, Visitor User said:What documents did they requested at the interview?
just the standard questions from the i485 form. what i do for living and my marital status. as for extra documents, the IO just asked me for my driver's license and passport to make a copy. that was pretty much the whole interview.

I see you interviewed at the same place as me. What did they tell you at the interview? Did they give you a letter that they have not come to a decision yet and will send you information later on after they review everything again?

Had my interview on oct24 in fed plaza. Got a letter at the end to allow 120 days for decision to be made. Since then no updates online (still says interview scheduled). Anyone still waiting after their interview?
Also im filing under f2b but yeah it's been almost 3 months post interview with no updates. i opened SR online but no officer assigned to it. i also did an infopass at fed plaza and did case inquiry. got the receipt in mail that they got it. once my wait reaches 4 months i'll call uscis and try to talk to tier 2 as well as contact congressman to inquire on my behalf.
