  1. Yes you are correct there is a question on the N-400 that asked "Have you EVER claimed to be a U.S. citizen (in writing or any other way")? Part 12 question 1, it also ask for an explanation on a separate sheet of paper if you answered yes, so you'd have to explain it there. I'd be proactive now and in addition to amending your taxes I would get a affidavit from your tax preparer stating what happened and include that with your N-400 documents. Not sure if it will be an issue, but one thing we do know it will be an issue if you fail to tell the truth and they find out otherwise. Your proactive steps taken now I think will save you heartache when the time comes.
  2. @aapl also visit some of the other I-751 threads and look and see what everyone has done and use them as a guide for yourself. I filed my wife's in January 2022 there are excellent ideas given there if you care to look. Any I-751 thread will do though especially if there is a lot of content inside. Slow down and make sure you are in your window!
  3. @aapl No reason to send two checks you can combine the amount. Unless you have a specific reason to send two checks one will do! You did not list taxes, bank statements, utility bills, rental contracts or mortgage statement (unless that's in your proof of legitimate marriage you mentioned). I'd slow down and check your packet before sending it. If what you listed is all you really are going to send I think you'd be in trouble. USCIS does not recommend two hole punching it used to be the thing to do but they changed their language. I do not think they would kick back your package for doing it though. Make sure you send tax transcripts if you can get them or have them
  4. "Filing the Form N-400 provides an automatic extension of your form I-551, Permanent Resident Card (also known as a Green Card). This notice presented along with your expired Permanent Resident Card, is evidence of your lawful permanent resident status for 24 months from the "Card Expires" date indicated on your Permanent Resident card."
  5. I know you've gotten a lot of confusing answers some say you do not get the new extension letter for the N400 some say you do. Not sure why that happens. But I can assure you my wife got both extensions on her NOA for her 751 and then another for her N400. Just file your N400 and see what happens and go from there. The extension is not an update though they are two separate extensions one for the 751 and another for the N400 they overlap which gave us an additional year after the 751 extension will expire. They both are for 24 months!
  6. Looking at my NOA for my N400 and as @Mike E said filing the N400 does automatically generate another extension letter. I got a 24 month extension for the N400 as well as the 751! Not sure why others have not, but its true they do issue one.
  7. Plus they will want you to pay next years taxes quarterly, its not required but they always suggest it. Yes the underpayment penalty is going be substantial!
  8. Mine are same as yours as far as the NBC locations and 751 and N400!
  9. They are different, different addresses so I would assume different places.
  10. Make sure you read up on getting married in the Philippines, there are a few documents you will need to get married there. It is not quite so easy like getting married in the USA. Be sure to allow plenty of time as some places in the Philippines well most places the paperwork moves quite slow. You are looking at a minimum of 30 days to be safe so that you can pull it off. Google it and its all there what you will need.
  11. I don't know why USCIS uses that status as they aren't doing jack! Actively means they are looking at it everyday and we all know that's BULL! But good for you at least your biometrics is out of the way!
  12. I would say that its time you put on your big boy pants. They have already made their decision on what or who they are going to stand with, things may have smoothed out for now but what happens next time. Being a step-father is tough at best but when the step-children do not respect you coupled with the wife not putting the kids in their place when they overstep their boundaries I see humongous problems ahead. You being the immigrant makes it even worst. You need to protect yourself gather all your documents for safe keeping in case you have to jet! There is a line where love ends and being a man starts, you have to retain your dignity whether you love her or not. If you do not stand up for yourself and DEMAND respect what do you think they are going to do to you? Yes my post might sound harsh but you asked for opinions this is just mine! I hope things work out for you! I was a step-father before so I know what I'm talking about!
  13. I concur FedEx or UPS would have been a much better deal instead of USPS, no telling where the documents are now!
  14. No it started with SRC Dallas, but it has been transferred now to NBC.
  15. I was not referring to you, you've been a VJ member here for quite awhile, your timeline is filled out and you did not just join VJ an hour ago as that OP. I'm just saying we have seen these one posters before. Then they vanish!
  16. We've seen these type of post before, but if legit it's very cool.
  17. It would help others if you filled out your time line! We see this is your first post as you just joined VJ an hour ago!!!
  18. This is not the thread to discuss the political aspect, there is a thread on VJ for political things!
  19. Don't freak out now, this is it for you the last hoorah, then you are done! Just a bit longer and you are outa here!
