I had my interview today and I am officially a US Citizen! Sharing my experience below..

The process was surprisingly very fast. My interview time was 12.30 PM and there was no one in the security line when I got there.
After the security check, I went to an upstairs waiting area. 5 minutes later I was called to interview with one really nice USCIS officer.
He swore me in and we started with the English test (Reading : Where is the white house? Writing 🥰The White house is in Washington, D.C.) and moved the civics test.
(Civics Questions : Name one US territory? If the US president can't serve, who next in line? Where is the statue of Liberty? Who makes Federal Laws? Name one state that borders Canada? Where is the statue of Liberty?).

Next we went through all the yes/No questions. He asked me if I understood the oath of allegiance and I said I did. He then told me he was approving my application and due to Covid, he will be swearing me in same day. We did the oath. He gave me some documents and I went back to the waiting area for about 20 min. Someone then brought me my naturalization certificate and that was it. In all it took about 1 hr total - from check-in to receiving the naturalization certificate.

Zero stress and that has been my experience throughout my immigration Journey and I'm relieved that it comes to an end today! 🙂

All the best to everyone still waiting for their interview. When the time comes, it will be a breeze..

I've posted a couple times in this thread so I just wanted to give a final update on our case. On September 8 we got a notification that my husband was scheduled for his N-400 interview at the Charleston, SC office on September 30th. We didn't know what to expect but were prepared to interview together for the still-pending I-751 as well if need be. They didn't let me inside due to covid and didn't even address the I-751. He passed the interview/exam for naturalization, did the oath and they gave him his certificate. The whole thing took about two hours. I just checked online and no case status updates so far, but none of that matters anymore because we are done! Very excited and feel really lucky to be in Charleston for this part of our process as they apparently are very fast. Good luck to everyone still waiting, and thanks to all of you. This community was absolutely priceless and allowed us to do this without lawyers. 🤗🥰

Going there to explain the situation makes no sense, USCIS  will deny your AOS, they will not approve your I-485 based on your marriage. What you can try is to inform the officer that you will file VAWA, if you are being abused of course, and ask the officer to put your I-485 on hold, some officers accept others don't, if the officer doesn't accept to put your I-485 on hold then file a new I-485 along with your VAWA.

Kennycat reacted to lzm in Travelling w/unexpired green card while ROC but NO receipt notice
Hi all, I am a bit concerned with my holiday travels. Here is my situation and question:

I am a LPR, my conditional green card expires on Jan 25, 2019 I have already applied for removal of conditions (marriage-based), 90 days in advance (October) For some reason, I haven't received the receipt notice extending my green card (I  think it was lost somehow by  the mail people). I only received the biometrics appointment letter last week (with my case number in it) I contacted USCIS in the online form about that. The date for an answer is Dec. 26 I am scheduled to go abroad for the holidays on Dec 19, will be back January first
The question is: Is it ok to reenter the U.S. with unexpired green card on Jan 1st that is set to expire on Jan 25? Has anyone done that?

I really appreciate any thoughts you may have based on experience. Thank you!

Kennycat reacted to Music_en in Using AP to travel
I went back home this year for 2 weeks. Came back in February using AP. It wasn't exactly a breeze lol. The CBP was rude, but I expected nothing less. Was asked: where did I go? What I did there and what am I doing back in this country. After that I was sent to secondary inspection where it took about 20 minutes to get my file. They called me, stamped my passport gave me my documents back and let me on my way. By that time even the belt for the luggage had stopped turning. Just when I thought I was good to go I was "randomly" picked to get my luggage searched. 🙄 All in all i knew I had nothing to worry about , but I feel anyone would be nervous regardless. Maybe I encountered more suspicion cause my connecting flight was through Turkey.
