I had my interview in Minneapolis on March 10th, and I got an approval notice on April 19th. The Minneapolis office doesn't approve anyone on the spot as far as I can tell - they wait for your physical A-file to reach them for review before approval.

After my interview the officer told me it could take up to six weeks or so before approval, just FYI.

    Congratulations on passing the interview!

Thank you so much for your input! It’s so helpful! My officer didn’t mention any estimate for the oath ceremony notice. I guess I have to be patient.

I assume I will have oath ceremony around fall as North Dakota schedules one per quarter.

    congratulations to you too!

did u pass the civil test?

    any issues with the officer?

Adil interviewed Friday and was disappointed not to hear approved same day but it was stated it was online on Saturday

If the decision is not issued within 120 days of the interview, an applicant may request judicial review of his or her application in district ...

Yes I passed the civics. I was told to wait for the notice with oath ceremony.  He didn’t look at the documents I was told to bring, asked basic additional questions like my BOD, birthplace and few YES/NO question. At the end he told me to wait for a letter and that oath ceremony will be in North Dakota( I had an interview in Minnesota).

  3. Went for my bio appointment today in Fargo, ND. Feeling stressed as the officer has hard time collecting fingerprints from me. It took several attempts, hand lotion to get poor quality of my two fingerprints. Hopefully they would be enough as it’s 1,5 hr drive for me one way to that USCIS support center.

Status on my case change to : case is being actively reviewed.

  4. Today I received information

Application Type: I751, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS ON RESIDENCE
Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

    Finally!

My case was a little bit unusual. In June  we apply to expedite it as my husband got orders to go for 3 years military assignment overseas. We moved overseas  at the end of July so I apply to change my address. On August 4th I was informed my expedite request was approved.
    The interview was waived.

Now I am preparing documents to apply for naturalization. Would be interesting to do this while living overseas.

Potomac Service Center seems to be the slowest now. Have not heard anything also. I sent my document in January and had my biometrics done before the lockdown.

I sent mine in December, biometrics done in January. No updates since then.  When I last checked processing time for Potomac it was said they were working on cases with receipt date May 17th 2019 :(

Almost exact circumstances for my wife and I.  I volunteered for Lajes right around the time it changed to unaccompanied - if I had known it changed I wouldn't have volunteered.

My wife is from the Philippines so I had to get her a visa to enter for 90 days and they allowed one additional 90 day visa, so she left just short of 180 days.  Poland is in the EU (I think?) so you probably won't have that issue.

When I left there in Dec 2015 everyone inbound had to stay on base.  Not sure if that changed between now and then, but might want to be 100% sure because depending on the rank, some were put in dorms, which wouldn't work for a family to stay.

Also, there were issues with keeping BAH if you stay in Lajes past a certain time (it was either 90 or 120 days). Might want to contact the Lajes finance office for that info.

But Lajes was great, one of my best assignments.  Miss it there.

Thank you for your input! Very helpful and useful information. For me visa to Portugal wouldn’t be a problem as I am a citizen of EU so I am even entitled to free healthcare.

Unfirtunately today my my husband was informed that his supervisor asked the military personnel office to change the assignment as my hub is more needed where he works.

But anyway , thank you everybody for the comments and advises. At least I won’t have anymore GC dilemma:)

Are you familiar with the concept of "insurance"?  Good luck.  It sounds like you have made your decision......

Yes I am familiar with a concept of insurance. My husband is thinking of Tricare Select for me and our son ( well he is checking that if we are eligible) and if some costs have to be covered fully by us - we are happy about that.

Yes i I made my mind, because my husband convinced me it’s so easy to convince immigration officer that this trip was temporary. I asked additional here , thinking someone had similar experience even on accompanying us spouse who got temporary sssigment as civil worker abroad.

You need to check on insurance and emergency med-evac for health care.  Hope for the best but know the plan for the worst.

I know many SAHMs who use drop-in at the CDC just to have time to themselves for doctors visits, lunch with friends,...  It is important to take time for yourself (from a mom of 4). A 3 month old is far more portable than an 15 month old who is running, climbing, and has embarrassing screaming on the floor tantrums mastered.

When the military makes a tour unaccompanied, they do so for good reasons.  These may not be obvious - or what you are told. Be very cautious.

We are going to Lajes on Azores. The only reason why families don’t go there together officially is because the command there can’t provide with family facilities anymore: hospital on base, school etc. there are some military families living off base. So we wouldn’t be an exception.
