The DS-160 doesn't require any payment, if I were you I'd fill it in now so you have it ready to submit when your case reaches the embassy (or like me, I submitted mine today and my case is still "in transit"). It takes a while to fill it out and you can go back to it anytime you want. Go for it

It's not on the checklist so I'm not sure about that tbh. However, after you've filled out the DS-160 it says (on the confirmation page) "You must bring the confirmation page and the following document(s ) with you at all steps during the application process: Passport & Evidence of approved i-129f."
I will have my fiancé send me a copy of the NOA2 as well, and the tax papers, a new letter of intent (since it was ages ago since we filed the i-129f), the receipt for the ring and obviously the i-134 form. I'm the kind of person who'd rather have way too much stuff with me to "be on the safe side", even if it's unnecessary.

Thanks for the quick response!!!! Yeah I was really confused since you need the case nr and you get that from the NVC.
Yeah I'm really relieved now I told him to send me a copy of it asap. I read somewhere that you need to bring it to the interview?

Some NOA2s say that it goes to NVC and some say that it goes to the consulate, nobody seems to know why it differs. It doesn't matter what it says though, all K-1s go to NVC and then to the embassy from there. So it's all alright.
Ours said NVC btw, not consulate. It's so odd how not all say the same. Good feeling to have the NOA2 in hand now at least, you'll need it later on.

    Welcome.
No. Either you file for the K-1 visa, bring your fiancée to the US when she gets the visa and marry her within 90 days of arrival.
Or you marry her in Hong Kong first and file for CR-1 visa instead.

Yeah it might be for work visa and they need a name/number for the company or something. I did put "do not know" as that was the only option I could choose from.
For the question about immigrant petition on my behalf I'll just put "no" as this petition isn't an immigrant one and no one has ever filed an immigrant petition for me before. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Even the photo was uploaded perfectly on the first try, so happy things are going smooth for once. DS-160 is all done and ready to be submitted, can I do it now or do I wait until my case reaches the embassy?

Thank you, linafinn! It seems to take about 30 days to get the case number, you'll have yours soon too!

Congratulations, Lenhey! I hope it's fixed easily.

He can't AOS on his own. If you want a divorce then just divorce him and move on. His only options are to go back to Jamaica or stay in the US illegally.

And no you're not financially responsible for him since you haven't AOS'ed yet.

A lot of people do that question wrong actually. They think they are supposed to put in the case number given from NVC but it is actually the USCIS number they ask for if you read the question carefully so you did the right thing!

Yeah that is probably blood tests etc. I paid a lot but not that much But yeah, I had the same thought when I was standing there paying the fee. It's worth it in the end

The DS-160 actually wants the WAC number, but those that put the LND number instead have been fine. Either works flawlessly.

Ok good! I was worried you would have to wait too long for Gothenburg
Yes.. I told the doc the price in Gothenburg.. Well I said they were cheaper and he asked... n I said it was 3300 plus the x-ray..
He lifted his eyebrows and said "really?" I'm like yea, that's why they get more bookings... lol

It's hopefully the same thing at the clinic in Gothenburg too then, linafinn.

Does anyone know what the last page of the DS-160 is btw? I'm at the photo page now and can't upload any photo yet as I haven't taken any new ones in a while. Is there more after that or is the DS-160 all filled out after the photo page?

Overthinking is my middle name (as you all know by now..), imagine what my poor fiancé has to deal with on a daily basis.

Good adivce about the personbevis. I'll get a couple of extra before leaving, plus they're for free. Can't say the same about the police paper so I think I'll just skip extras of that one.

I don't think you need them for the process but I was thinking of ordering a few extra in case needed in the US at a later stage. You never know, could be good to have an extra copy or two.
    Thanks for your reply btw!

I just posted in "March Filers" what I remember from the ds-160...
It's not difficult just a lot and you answer to the best of your knowledge and ability.. It was for instance difficult to remember exact travelling dates. .. so then you estimate to the best of your ability...

Yes, but I just saw you are waiting for nvc number I completed my ds-160 after waiting 2 weeks from NOA2... but the ds-160 doesn't expire unless there are changes to the info that you provide there... so there is no reason why you couldn't finish that
    Oh..and thank you too! Hahaha

There is no way of telling which visa will be the fastest way than to look at statistics. I wanted to get married in Sweden with my family and friends around me as we were going to live in the U.S.A, so that's what we did and therefore we applied for CR-1. We ended up in backlogs and RFEs we already sent them several times and after 1,5 years after we got married, I almost gave up on us and we started to discuss if we should just get at divorce and move on with our lives separately. Instead I quit my job and traveled to stay with my husband on the ESTA visa for three months and by the end of my visit the embassy in Stockholm gave me an appointment for the interview. Only good thing that came out of it was that I received LPR instead of CR..... But if I had known it would take that long I would have applied for the K1 instead.
Sorry to hear that you too Scandi regret your choice of visa even if your experience is the opposite from mine. Cross my fingers for your visa journey to speed up now!
Americanboy, you and your Danish girlfriend just have to read through the options and make up your mind about what route is the best for you two whatever advice you receive from here or anywhere else. Good Luck to you, whatever you choose!

Yes you can and should do the ds-160... it takes a while to complete and it doesn't have a expiration date...If your case has been sent from nvc I would definitely book medical also. It takes atleast 11 days for it to reach the embassy after it's completed... and you will have your packet 3 before that alone... plus add to that the time before you get an appointment for medical...
If you have booked/done medical and completed ds-160.. you have done what you can at the point of waiting for package 3 email

I would echo other comments here and say that you don't need to hire an attorney to get the K-1 done. The step-by-step process descriptions on this site are extremely helpful, and the other members are even more helpful!
Just read the steps carefully, ask questions here when you get stuck, and just keep putting one foot in front of the other. You'll get there! Good luck to you both in your journey!

Just a "warning", the K-1 might not be faster than the CR-1 at all. It most likely won't be for us. Had we known it'd take this long we would definitely have went for the CR-1 instead, that would've saved us some money, we would've been done with the AOS part when I enter the US and the process would've been just as fast.

I totally regret the K-1 but at this point it has gone so far so we can't really change our minds.

You don't use those forms for the K-1 anymore. You just use the online form DS-160.
