Today my husbands N400 status changed to “deadline to respond to request has passed and case will take additional time to process”. Also, estimated completion time changed to taking longer than estimated, it originally said July 2020.

So we sent a case inquiry for the I751 being it’s been pending now for a year and a half... and it’s sat untouched in Mount Laurel since January, it was sent to Philly the day after we applied for citizenship in December and then Mount Laurel a month later. If the N400 is going to be pending indefinitely, the least they could do is move along with the I751 being it’s like 2 months until the extension runs out. We’ll see what they say.. if they say anything.

Received a response from USCIS about I751 being out of normal processing time... “your case is at the Mount Laurel, NJ office and is currently in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your case will remain at this step depends upon the number of cases ahead of yours. We hope this information is helpful and appreciate your patience.”

So nothing new from case inquiry.

Hello everyone, has anyone heard anything from the Mount Laurel NJ office? Or even the Newark, NJ office? I know they were doing same day oath ceremonies up until they day they closed, so I assume they would've went right into scheduling or rescheduling interviews. I follow several groups on FB and no one has heard anything from them, at all. Just curious. Thanks!

Our office is Mount Laurel. We got an RFE on May 11th and someone at reception signed for our package on May 13th so they’re definitely there sending RFE’s at the very least.

We never got notification from them that they received the RFE package we sent, yesterday our status changed to “deadline to respond has passed and your case will take additional time to process.” and our estimated completion is just longer than expected, it was July 2020.

I haven’t heard anyone scheduled in NJ yet, I’m assuming when the rest on the government agencies open for in person business on the 29th, we may hear something or at least we hope so. Good luck!

  4. We really regret applying for N400 so soon. We’re at 17.5 months of waiting for I751 and we feel like it would’ve just been approved had we not applied for citizenship. The I751 was transferred to a new jurisdiction the day after we applied for citizenship and now it’s just been sitting there for months (literally half a year without being touched)... and lucky us got an RFE for the N400 because the local office was unable to download or “see” any of the docs we uploaded online, ridiculous. Sent the RFE response the next day and two weeks later radio silence and our extension runs out soon.

I know the status never expires, but unfortunately we need that green card or citizenship to renew licenses which conveniently expire the day the extension expires.  Our process was smooth sailing until these N400 issues and Covid closures did us in. Over it.

UPS store are  open I believe and they have Notary service. I am not sure if they are open in your city. Try to give them a call.. https://www.theupsstore.com/store-services/notary-services

Thank you! I didn’t even think of the UPS or USPS,  was such a random request it stressed me out and I couldn’t think.

USPS and UPS should be open and have notaries available. Also, some states allow for notaries to digitally authorize documents.

Thank you! I’ll look into UPS or the USPS.

  6. We got an RFE today to  resubmit everything that USCIS has already received. All the items requested are clearly visible on the documents tab from when we applied online. Now the RFE says to mail all the documents to the office with the RFE notice. I’m kind of annoyed at this, what was the point of the online account then. I spent hours uploading everything to that online application and now I get to spend hours redoing it all...

The only thing not on the online account that they want is notarized affidavits from family, by June 1st. Which wouldn’t be a problem, but we’re living in a state that hasn’t opened up at all yet and just extended another 30 days. Where am I going to get something notarized by June 1st?

  7. My husbands I751 has been pending since December 2018, we applied for N400 and had an estimated completion date (before it was so coincidentally removed) of May/June 2020.

It’s just a terrible feeling to have been so close to finishing this and now to be back to waiting around indefinitely. This whole process has been going on for 4 years and we were just looking forward to it finally being over.

Hoping at this point they just approve of I751 so we can atleast get the green card before the extension letter runs out.

  8. So now that all in person interviews are cancelled indefinitely I guess we’ll be waiting until next year at the least to be scheduled for our citizenship interview. I guessing this had something to do with removing the estimated time of completion.

We have our  I751 still pending and my only hope is that they’ll just approve it without the interview because I doubt they’re gonna let us in to stamp my husbands passport. We’re very upset, so close to finishing this process and now back to waiting around indefinitely. People don’t even realize how many lives are being affected by shutting everything down.

  9. Read this forum and freaked out about how people are waiting months for extension letters, but everything moved much quicker than we ever expected. We were honestly shocked when we got the mail last night! They received our application 12/17 and then cashed the check and texted the case number on 12/19. The extension letter was also postmarked 12/19 so they mailed it right away and we received the extension letter on 12/24.

  10. I met my fiance while still married to my ex husband. I made two trips to see my fiance in person while still married and we became engaged during one of our meetings. So I was technically married and engaged at the same time. Me and my ex husband had been separated for quite some time (not legally, just living separate lives), when I met my fiance. I didn’t actively seek divorce until things got serious with my fiance, due to financial reasons. This is the way my life just played out, nothing was planned, and we don’t know how to explain this to the government to make things seem legit. To make things worse, my fiance was also denied entry to the US with the VWP back in January because they believed he had immigration intent when he mentioned me and our relationship to CBP officer.

Since engagement is just technically a promise to marry and not a legal binding, will it really affect things if the K1 application is sent now that I’m divorced and free to marry? Does it really matter when the engagement occurred?
