    Hey, my dear friends!!!
Girl in orange here speaking... Now (well, not yet, gotta file for SSN first) Mrs. Caruso!! Yay!!
We got married on Monday in a very intimate but still magical and beautiful ceremony at Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, CT. When we exchanged rings, it begun playing "all you need is love" out of nowhere. It was a guy sitting closeby with a guitar and him and his wife were there and they had adorable baby turtles. It was magical, I really loved my wedding! His parents were there and my now mother-in-law said a few words welcoming into the family, it made me shed a few bride tears haha ^^
We are planning on having a more elaborate wedding in the summer, it's gonna be just as beautiful, if not more! =)
Now we are gathering the docs for the AOS+AP+EAD and when it comes to proof of relationship, has any of you submitted anything? We don't have joint bank accounts or lease or mortgage together yet. =( all we have is pictures, really.

Guys, a very silly question I couldn't get clarified:
when I arrive there, will I have to apply for the social security number BEFORE the registry building wedding or AFTER?
Can I just go to the place wth my fiancé and my passport with the visa on it and get married just like that?
    thanks!

    Just a comment...
I´m from a third world Country and | say thank you for everything that I get, it doens´t matter from who.
    From my husband???
Wow... I thank even the love that he gives me!!!
I thank him for the amazing person, hubby, friend and partner tha he is!
I love him so much that I can say thank you for each kiss that he gives me!
And, if a relationship is working like this before living together... Bleh... Let it go...
The OP is young enough to get a job and find someone else (there´s no age to find a partner!) and get over it!
Better quit this now, than after a marriage and in a foreigner Country...

Are you kidding me? Its just a thank you. If this relationship's failure is really all due to a few missed thank yous its certainly doomed before it started. I thank my wife all the time and she yells at me to stop it....like why the hell am I thanking her.
Accepting peoples cultural backgrounds goes both ways, regardless where they permanently reside. Shes giving up EVERYTHING for him to come here to be with him. How many freaking thank yous is THAT worth??! Is one enough?

Awww dear, I feel so sorry for you. As the comments above, I also think you should cancel it and give it more time. Getting married is a huge deal and if he's having second thoughts, also look from his perspective. However, I can't lie to you, I am Brazilian and we don't usually thank people a lot for doing things for us, like thanking our parents for cooking for us etc., so when my fiancé and I go out to dinner, he pays the bills and I feel so grateful for having a nice and generous future husband (even at the beginning of our relationship I felt that way too), so I not only FEEL grateful, I also make sure I address that feeling to him. Because, at the end of the day, I'm sorry to say this, but he has technically no obligations with you, you guys aren't even married yet. So, whenever he pays for something, thank him, cause he doesn't HAVE to pay for your things. Also, I used to be a little bossy at the beginning of our relationship (and he was very stubborn) but we addressed all of our complaints, always. In your defense, it's a little unfair of his side to feel that you're unappreciative of the things he does for you and never address it and 3 days before your interview just hit borderline and get sick and tired of it. Also, he is 45, so he is supposed to be a mature man who knows what he wants and what he doesn't. My fiancé and I are VERY sure of our love, and we both know it won't be always butterflies (it already isn't) and we're only 26 and 23, respectively. Other people say all you have is time, well, sorry, but time is one of the most valuable things we have, and you shouldn't waste your time with something that might hurt you one day.

I did take English classes, I studied at Wise Up, Jaque has probably heard of it =)
But I also spent a very long time in Europe and Australia, so that improved my English tremedously - pulling out a "Trump" here hahaha -, so my advice is speak speak speak. If she has zero knowledge of it, a class is absolutely going to work better than self study. I also speak Dutch and first I started studying it all by myself, but once I started taking classes, my performance improved considerably.
Overall, taking classes is the best option, not to mention it would also be a great way for her to make friends!
And you, Shawn, be really patient with her and don't make any fun of her mistakes, cause it will make her go back in her shell and feel bad about herself. Just talk, talk, talk, that's the best way you can help.
PS.: sorry for the late response !

OP, some blunt talk after some unbelievable recent posts above:
You're being taken for a major ride.
What the devil entitles her to your money?
Even more blatantly, what entitles her parents to your money?
How were they supporting themselves before their daughter's "rich," gullible gringo showed up?
What entitles these people or those of any other nationality to financial support like this?
If an American girl made these demands, would you give her the time of day, let alone give in?

Mrs. T-B.-to-be's family was also not well-off.
Not once did Mrs. T-B.-to-be ask me for a single dime. Never once.
Had she -- or had her family -- her shapely hindquarters would still be single in Ecuador.

If things are this bad now, how bad will they be when she has you legally roped in?
You'll be a financial slave -- and, if you ever object to it, you'll probably be emotionally abused, too.
If you try to divorce, she'll ruin you financially for life.
If, heaven forbid, you have a child with her, what then? Who will be the priority? Her, still?
This girl doesn't love you. She's clueless as to the meaning of the term.
Granted, we usually get more solid advice about buying a car or a washing machine than we do about picking a mate. I could go through your posts above and quote your many statements of doubt about just the financial aspects of all this. But it must be asked: Why are you (literally and figuratively) throwing good money after bad?
All the loving, caring, emotionally available, unselfish women in the world, and you're still considering a relationship of any kind with this one?

I read all what you guys say and yea.. our hopes get smaller each day, unfortunatelly. It's so unfair that all of us, petitioners & beneficiaries, have to struggle and be punished by what ONE mad disgraceful couple did. Loving someone from no matter where is a right, specially in a free country as the US.
I'm not saying the government is wrong in being more strict and even blocking new applications for a while, but all of us here applied for the visa BEFORE this dreadful incident, so why shatter our hopes and dreams once we're already onboard?
The right thing to do, as mentioned above, is to stop accepting applications from a certain date on, so couples who are expecting their fiancé(e)s to start a new life together don't get unfairly punished.

Also, boys and girls, I don't know if there's any Brazilians (or Portuguese speakers) that are Novembers like us, but if there's any, this past weekend I started a blog to share my experiences and help them out with the K-1 process the best way I can.
If anybody wants to check it out, it's www.noivinhak1.blogspot.com
I'm looking forward to see the lucky ones who'll get their NOA2 this week!!! That's so exciting!

Yes. SInce it has been awhile since we were in that situation, I don't remember for sure, but it seems like it was the same phone number as the automated system. You just had to push 0 for an operator or something like that. I will try to search for it and get back to you.
Edit: I found this post from awhile ago. Maybe it still works...Here is the magic trick to your question: Call the USCIS tele.# And choose the 1 for english or 2 for spanish. Then in this sequence push these options. 2-2-6-2-4 Use these options everytime you are prompted.
I also found a post that said to choose the option for request for evidence as it will connect you to a live person.

The same thing happened with us when we applied a few years ago. We were not able to see our case online until we actually got approved. I've heard of it happening a lot. I just called USCIS throughout the process to make sure our case was still being processed. It was--someone just forgot to update the website. You can give them a call to make sure everything is fine. It also might take a couple of days for it to show up in their system. Good luck!
