Hey @bokins, have you had your interview yet? I hope you are done and it went well! If you have a minute, would you mind sharing your experience?
Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for mine to be scheduled, but I don’t expect it before October or even later anyway as my application date is 12/29/2020 (under INA 319(a), three year rule). Like many others, though, both my wife and I can’t wait until we’re finally done with USCIS.
Hey, so yes, had my interview on Aug 3 and the Oath ceremony on Aug 6, so I am officially a citizen!
The interview was pretty good, the usual civics questions and then reviewed the whole application with me.
The only thing that took a lot of time was reviewing all my traffic tickets lol, I drive too fast, but the thing that concerned the officer the most was that all the fines were paid and nothing was owed to any government agency. He wanted proof of any ticked I had ever received, and it took a while lol.
Then I got scheduled right there for a ceremony on the 6th, where nobody is allowed to come with you. Also, you have to wear a mask in the USCIS building no matter your vaccination status, so don't forget it!

So, I know this topic has been talked ad nauseam, but I came across the USCIS website that specifically states that I can send a photocopy:
QuoteYou do not need to obtain a Certified True Copy if the U.S. government asks for a copy of your certificate for official U.S. government business. For example, if the U.S. Department of State requests your Certificate of Naturalization when you apply for a U.S. passport, you may use a normal photocopy that has not been authenticated. You may use a normal photocopy of your certificate for legitimate U.S. government business.
So, is this new? Can I send the application with just the two photocopies? I'd hate to send the original and then it gets lost or something.
Thank you.

Just had my interview today, passed, and oath ceremony scheduled for this Friday!!!!
the only thing that I was asked was to provide proof of every single traffic ticket I had, which I admitted to the interviewer that I did not rember all of them, and he said no worries just tell me what you remember, and he approved me on the spot.
The officer was pretty friendly
Good luck everyone!

Wow, somebody I know who applied in March 2022 just got their citizenship in the DC field office! While I’m happy for them, it also stings a little because I know there are others who have been waiting longer (myself included). Oh well. I hope it’ll be our time soon as well.
Back to the future! Does he drive a DeLorean?
Anyway, I applied in October 2020 and got my interview scheduled for August, so I’m nervous

Just checked my account and I have a notification that they will reuse my biometrics dated 2/12. Filed October 25th 2020
Me too, from 1/15, but the letter ai received home was a NOA lol, they messed up
-
I just got a letter with a NOA again, which was pretty weird since I filed in october and had already gotten the NOA, so I logged into the USCIS account and there is a message about being an error with some notices sent from 1/5 to 1/21 and that the correct notices will be resent, so I guess there is some notice that they will send me soon.

Yes , my case is more than 6 months within a year BUT each trip less than 6 month. Hypothetically, IO asked me about this. What should I prepare ? thanks
From the USCIS website:
“Continuous residence” means that the applicant has maintained residence within the United States for the required period of time shown above.
Extended absences outside of the U.S. may disrupt an applicant’s continuous residence.
- Absences of more than six months but less than one year may disrupt an applicant’s continuous residence unless the applicant can prove otherwise, (see legal basis, see policy manual)
- Absences in excess of one year (PDF, 667.32 KB) or more may disrupt an applicant’s continuous residence, (see legal basis, see policy manual)
Applicants are required to show that they were:
- Physically present in the U.S. for thirty months within the five year period before applying, or (see legal basis)
- Physically present in the U.S. for eighteen months within the three year period before applying in the case of qualified spouses of U.S. citizens (see legal basis)
In addition, applicants are required to show they have resided for at least three months immediately preceding the filing of Form N-400 in the USCIS district or state where the applicant claims to have residency (See 8 CFR §316.2(a)(5) & §319.1(a)(5)).
This is what you need to make sure you are compliant with. If you are not, the best thing will be to check with a lawyer.

Thanks for replying
so this is what my lawyer said;
Applicants Over 31 Years of Age
Failure to register for Selective Service will generally not prevent a man who was over 31 years of age from demonstrating that he is eligible for naturalization. This is because the applicant’s failure to register would be outside of the statutory five-year period during which the applicant must show that he is of good moral character and disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States. (Note: The applicant must be at least 31 years of age on the day Form N-400 is mailed to USCIS to create the five years of permanent residence since turning 26.)
I'm getting a status information letter from Selective services and bringing it to the appointment my lawyer says they most likely won't even bother asking since I'm 32 years old.
That's good news

Hey guys! Just filed under the 3 year rule. Newark filed office. I have a quick question so right now im 32 years old and the selective service question came up, I tried to check to see if I was registered but nothing came I guess I never registered. I did upload a letter explaining that I was not aware and that if I knew I would have register, I also noted that I will be bringing my status information letter the day of the interview... do you guys think that should be ok?
Also, be careful telling them that you were not aware, since they state it clearly on the form I-485, and some IOs don't like those excuses
If you needed to register and didn't do it, I'd suggest better check with your lawyer just in case

The question asks if you were a resident between your 18 and 26th birthdays and registered for selective service, so that's the first thing you should need to know. Read the question carefully.

When adding info on your profile, or looking at the "processing times" part of the website, you can only choose CSC (California) and VSC (Vermont) as your processing office for I-751, but there are currently 5 Services centers processing petitions for this form, so the people who don't have cases on these two offices cannot rely on the current processing times posted on https://www.visajourney.com/content/times/
There are currently 5 offices processing I-751 forms:
California Service center
Nebraska Service center
Potomac Service center
Texas Service center
Vermont Service center
It would be nice to have the 3 missing ones added so the processing time data is actually meaningful.
Thank you

Just wanted to let you guys know I also just received the letter for Bio appt, finally some movement for us LIN fillers!!!
If I recall correctly, we could go to take the biometrics early and I don’t need to go the day I’m scheduled for it, right?
If not, I’ll go on 9/4
Good luck to you all!
