Hi, I was wondering if you ever had your oath ceremony scheduled? I had my interview Dec 1, and was approved at the same field office, but I am still waiting for the oath ceremony to be scheduled! All contacts I have had they say my application has been approved, just waiting for oath, nothing needed from me! I just don’t understand why it’s taking so long! I applied July 2020

    Hi Paula,

My husband had his biometrics in Atlanta, but his naturalization interview and oath ceremony were both in Montgomery, AL. I'm not sure why they had him go to Atlanta for his biometrics originally, but the field office he is zoned for is Montgomery.

His oath was held on Jan 26.

I do know that Atlanta tends to be a busier field office so that could be the reason for the delay, but if you can contact the local field office, you should do so. On the documents you were given during the interview there should be a name of a field officer you can contact.

  2. Just thought to update you all.

My husband had his naturalization interview on Jan 5. He was approved. Hopefully soon he will be scheduled to take the Oath. The field office his interview was at was in Montgomery, AL.

For all of you still waiting for your interview, it will come. It took about 6 months to be scheduled an interview after his biometrics appointment which was in Atlanta.

    I wish you all well.

  3.

My husband just received a notification this morning for biometrics appointment in July. His estimated time has hopped around at least 4 times since the application was submitted last October 2020.

Right now it currently says estimated time 14 months. It does appear that there is no pattern to how quick/long the process is going.

Also, we were originally told that Montgomery AL, was where he was going to be processed at, but the biometrics appointment letter says Atlanta, GA.

Has anyone else field office seem to have been changed?

    Hi all!

I filed my N-400 online on 10/1/2020. My local office is Cleveland, OH. Can't wait for this final step in my journey!

At the time of filing, my case completion said January 2021 (I always knew this wasn't going to happen). Then, after January passed, it changed to July 2021. In the meantime, nothing at all has happened in my case in over 5 months- which seemed a bit long based on Cleveland historical timelines I had seen. Is it nornal for it to be this long without even a biometrics appointment? Anyone here in Cleveland that filed around October 2020? Would love to connect!

I am assuming I don't qualify for biometrics re-use, since I entered on an IR-1 visa- all the processing was done abroad and I didn't have to do ROC, and so haven't had any interactions with USCIS at all stateside. Maybe this is my holdup, since there is a backlog of biometrics appointments?

Good luck to everyone else on their journey, and I'd love to hear from some Cleveland filers!

Same here. My husband is s waiting for an update. He too entered as IR-1, so we have figured the same that they most likely will not re-use the biometrics.

We're not out of Cleveland but Montgomery. Wish you luck and hope you have an update soon.

    A simple Google search

An OFC appointment is intended to simplify and speed up visa processing. During this appointment, your biometrics and visa photograph will be taken. It's a simple and straightforward process that occurs before your visa interview. Once you complete your OFC appointment, you will be able to attend your visa interview.

Yes I did google it and found the exact information you just posted... but I am not familiar with this as my husbands immigration was over 4 years ago. I am simply helping a friend whose immigration process has been fairly different than what I went through with my husband.

    But thank you.

  6. Hey everyone. A friend of mine recently received their interview appointment letter. She and her husband are having a difficult time with preparing for the interview. When she is on traveldocs to register for the courier, it has a section that is asking her to schedule an OFC appointment.. Is this required? Is this for the medical? She is confused as she has the appointment letter for the interview. This section of the website wont allow her to continue with registering for the courier.

Also, if this OFC appointment is not related to medical is she or her husband able to make an appoint for his medical online or does he need to call the listed hospitals and make an appointment that way?

And help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to all of you!

yes, my husband called last week, and they said they are mostly approving june cases, but I am in many forums and what we see is that they are mostly approving august cases, I am aware of the difference between cr1 and ir1, it's just that after so long waiting we start to wonder so I thought I would check here, thanks for your answer

Hopefully soon you guys will get approved.

Guys, I've been wondering since I've reached the one year mark waiting for my NOA2, I have been married since 2016 and even though nebraska is very slow right now,  I have seen some people getting approved before the one year mark , I have never overstayed a visa, never entered the country illegally, there are no previous marriages, our age gap is 1.5 years, which is nothing, so I am wondering, does the IR1 take longer? What have you people observed?

IR-1 does not take any longer than a CR-1. IR-1 are those couples who have been married for 2 or more years and CR-1 are those couples married less than 2 years. Nebraska has always been slow, but have you called the service center to check on the petition? Wish you the best of luck.

Follow the link that is above. My husband and I also got the CRBA for our daughter when she was about 3 years old. You need to make sure that you follow the steps on the checklist and make sure that her Egyptian birth certificate is also translated into English and has all the correct stamps. It was a stressful matter, but it doesn't take too long to do. Just make sure and double check that all applications and information is filled out correctly and that all the your documents they are requiring have translations if needed.

@KaurN , @PP_2016 and all couples who recently got approved:

Did the embassy ask for a copy of your i864 (affidavit of support) forms? And if they did, did the copies had any signatures?

My i864 copy doesn't have any signatures and the person who helped us with the files mentioned there's no need for the signature on the i864 copy as the ones we sent to NVC had the signatures and they were cleared by NVC so no issues. They say embassy won't even ask for the copies of i864, its jsut for personal record. Is this correct?

My interview is on the 25th july

@vintash @Adorable @Ahmed & Amy @justwaiting17  please answer this as we're worried we might be facing delays if anything is incomplete.

Hi @abfar My sincere apologizes for my late response. Been so busy and had a death in the family.

We took the original I-864 with wet inked signature and they did not take it. I even offered to give her the updated version for 2016 tax year as they had the previous year and all she wanted was to see the IRS tax transcripts for 2016. She took only the IRS tax transcripts. Every consulate is different, so I would also ask anyone who was recently approved at your consulate as well.

Good Luck and wish for you the best. :)

Thank u love for the help and Duaa😍😍

My interview went smooth al7amdullellah....and i gotttttt ittttttt:jest:

You're welcomed and Mabrooooooooooooooooooooooooook!!!!! That's wonderful dear, am so happy for you.

  11. No one can say for sure if you will be placed on AP. If your name pops up in their database, than you can expect to be on AP for a few months. If this situation  happen years ago and case was closed, then I really don't think you will have any issues.

Try not to over think this too much and when it comes time for your interview, just be calm, friendly and honest. I hope for you the best. When is your interview?

Thank you love for all the assistance and valuable info.

I have 3 hopefully last questions as the countdown started........

First,Do i take my phone with me and they switch it off and keep it at the security check ....or not to take it altogether?

Second, should i take with me the x_ray cd??????or just the closed envelope?(Medical examination results)

Third, other than photos ....should i print out whatsapp logs as samples???(what about privacy people) :o

Meticulous questions but my OCD took charge already ...3aaaaaaaaa!

Thank you sonmuch for everything.....I need ur prayers alllllll plzzzzzz

    Meekoz:rolleyes:

    Hey! No worries dear :)

You can take your mobile, just turn it off before you enter. Be sure not to bring any other electronic device with you and make sure you don't have any sharp objects of any kind (tweezers/nail files... things like that) in your purse.

I say bring the X-ray, even though they won't take it. When we handed her the package she opened it and handed Ahmed back his X-ray CD. His X-ray CD was not separate but enclosed with the package. So if yours is separate, bring it anyways... it never hurts.

Yes bring any chat logs you can. It maybe that the CO won't even look at it or even ask, but bring whatever information you have that proves your constant contact with your husband.  Going with too much information is better than not provide enough.

God Willing everything will go well. Wish you all the best and truly you are in my duaa.

If you need anything else you can message me anytime. If you would like a detailed review of my husbands interview last June you can read my review here. http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=21979

  13. To be honest coming out of Cairo there is no true timeline for AP. I've seen cases (K-1, CR-1 and IR-1 Visa's) where someone was on AP for only a month, others 3 months, 5 months, 9 months, and one 13 months. It really is case scenario. If you had any red flag; ie large age differences, difference in religion, if they suspect that you are already married, type of work you do (because it could be on the Technology Alert List (TAL) which causes some people to be AP for a few months); it really can vary. Some people are placed on AP because their name pinged in the security database. I was acquainted with a women who had the same exact name as someone in that database and it caused her to be on AP for several months until they proved she was not 'that' person who was already on their security list.

Usually I've seen Cairo ask for the family registry from CR-1 cases, but it appears that they want to be sure you are not already married. It tends to be more common for Egyptian Muslim men who are 30+. But this is not always the case for everyone, I've seen some men asked for it and many others not.

If you have been asked for the marriage registry, it is very easy to do. Just get it done quickly and send it to them so that you can get approved (if you have not) and be issued your visa sooner.

  14. Hey everyone! I hope you are all well.

I apologize that I have not been very active lately on VJ; been preparing our move and many other things before we leave Egypt.

I wish everyone luck on their coming interviews; and for those who recently got CC, I hope so soon you are to be scheduled for an interview.

You all take care and I will try my best to catch up with everyone soon (F)

    Hello everyone

My interview is on the 13th of july. Wish me luck.

My hubby is not attending.....any problem with this?

Anyone here @ Cairo embassy: what are the fees that we pay ?

Wish u all a smooth visa journey continuation:)

Frist: Good Luck, I wish you the best. Stay calm, you will be alright. Do not worry about not having your husband there; although it is always good for spousal support, it is not mandatory and in your case, I really do not believe it will have a negative impact. :) Second: There are no fees that you pay at the interview. If you get approved and are given the paper that says 'Congratulations you have been approved for your Visa and it will be issued X amount of weeks', then on that paper it will have the green card fee which should be paid prior to entering the US or right afterwards.
