  1. FYI Personal experience on Social Security record update after naturalization: 1. I became a US citizen in 1987 and nobody told me I needed to update my record before the SSA to inform them about my new status, so when I decided to retire from military and civil service in 2021, I had to prove my US citizenship before the SSA and it was very simple, I received a letter with an appointment asking me to come in person with the US naturalizatiion certificate, they made a copy of it and made few entries in their system and that was it, I was not asked for a US passport. 2. My wife became a US Citizen last August 01, she updated her driver's license record, applied and received her US passport, updated her new status with banks and brokers, received her voter's registration and today, she had her appointment with the SSA requested 3 weeks ago. Now days, there are no walk-ins at the SSA, its by appointment only and one of the ways to obtain one is through their website using your online account, which ask you a bunch of questions so they can decide if the appoinment is necessary, well the only option in this case is to present documentation in person, and that quaifies you to finally obtain a freaking appoinment. When we showed up today, the lady who tended to us said we applied incorrectly and gave us a lecture stating there was another option to update the immigration status, etc. (believe me, there is no separate option for that) and directed us to go to another window to use a terminal and complete a very long form which asked for a PASSPORT NUMBER, date issued and expiration date. That is the big difference between my process in 2021 and today with my wife's. After we completed that application we went back to her window, then she asked for her Naturalization Certificate and her driver's license, then she made a couple of entries and printed a letter stating that in 2 weeks my wife will receive a new SS card with the same number. So, in SUMMARY, seems that in order to update your SS record, besides the Naturalization Certificate, a US Passport is needed also. (We tried to continue the form not providing a US Passport info and the system will not allow us to continue.).
  2. What's your specific situation? You don't have a timeline. If you are just referring as being part of January 2025 filers, then you are not alone, as of today there are 19 VJ members with timelines, still waiting for the interview. Good luck.

  4. Yes, you need to prove international travel within 14 days, that's it, no questions asked and very easy to obtain without actually purchasing a ticket. There are plenty of spots, so no need to worry about displacing someone with urgent needs. The option is there if you are close to a passport Agency, it cost the same as the 3 week expedited service.
  5. Just for future reference, Tucson has a Passport Agency with same day expedited service. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast/passport-agencies/western.html
  6. Did you get your Oath Ceremony date yet? I have been praying for you.
  7. Finally DONE DONE!!! Updated the driver's license last Tuesday, received the US Passport today and got a Social Security appointment for September 8th.
  8. I'm sorry, some how I did not see your previous answer. BTW when you said "counterproductive", I thought you meant having a negative impact on the N-400 processing time. Absolutly, it takes longer to go through a 2 step login process.
  9. I am very curious. why logins into USCIS are counterproductive?
  10. You get emails and if you set it up, SMS messages also.
  11. Here is addtional information that suggests the rules change depending on the DOB of the individual benefiting from derivate citizenship, I thought new laws supersed old ones. https://citizenpath.com/form-n-600-guide/
  12. Thank you @OldUser for this reference, it is very interesting and left my head spinning, there are very good points on both sides. For those who's main concern is the expense of the N-600, get your kid a US passport and stamp in his head the need to spend over $1300 on the CoC as soon as he/she starts working. They can apply for it any time after they turn 18. as far as the requirements are met before they turned 18. I read another article which basically says the rules change depending on the bitrth date, I thought rules or laws for these purposes are superseded by the lastest one. Here is the article: https://citizenpath.com/form-n-600-guide/
  13. It is not my local USPS, it is the Miami Passport Agency (State Department).
  14. One thing that I learned while filling the DS11 (Paspport application form) is that N-600 (Certificate of Citizenship) which cost over $1300 and takes between 12 and 18 months, used primarly by minors who benefit from derivate citizenship, it is not necessary to obtain a US Passport, according to the form itself. I also asked the official who helped us and confirmed it. So unless I am misunderstanfing the form and the passport officer is wrong, any one who meets the following requirements can obtains a US Passport without filing a N-600 and spending over $1300 dollars.
  15. According to the DS11 form, a minor does not need an expensive $1385 N-600. This is my interpretation, experts out there!! What is your oipinion? I asked the passport officer this morning and she told me, if the N-600 is not listed, it is not necessary.
  16. Speaking of SSA, walk-in's are over, we went yesterday and we were given a QR code to scan in order to request an appointment, we got one for September 12th. (5 weeks wait).
  17. As righ now, there are 25 Visajourney members with timelines who filed in January 2025, who are still waiting for the interview!!
  18. Passport fees can be paid with a cedit card, we paid $255 today (Passport book $130, Card $30, Expedited 2 day fee $60 and $35 facility fee). Forms of payment in passport appointment letter. Application fee and expedite fee Credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover Debit cards (or prepaid cards that are not linked to a line of credit or bank account): Visa or Mastercard Contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay
  19. This is the last event code after the Oarh Ceremony on August 01 2025 "eventCode": "MCA", "createdAt": "2025-08-01", "createdAtTimestamp": "2025-08-01T17:11:14.127Z",
  20. UPDATE: Today was the Oath Ceremony and even though a picture was taken at the interview, they used the 7 year old picture taken with last biometrics for the Citizenship Certificate.
  21. Here is more information about event codes that are NOT even listed in a document thas was shared before, I am defining those events according to the sequence of text messages we received after the interview was over and while we waited for the form N-445 for the Oath Ceremony. Third event after interview Oath Ceremony schedule has been mailed. "eventCode": "SC", "createdAt": "2025-07-28" createdAtTimestamp": "2025-07-28T12:25:55.193Z Second event after interview Oath Ceremony has been scheduled "eventCode": "QB1", "createdAt": "2025-07-28", "createdAtTimestamp": "2025-07-28T12:21:26.533Z" First event after interview Oath Ceremony is in line to be scheduled "eventCode": "SB", "createdAt": "2025-07-28", "createdAtTimestamp": "2025-07-28T12:14:34.997Z" INTERVIEW SCHEDULING done on June 09 at 10:28 for July 28 at 07:25 EST. 22. I did a search for you, among Visajourney member WITH TIMELINES, there are 22 January 2025 N-400 applicants waiting for interview. Having a timeline is recomneded because it helps others.
