N-400 January 2025 Filers
Frankjavir replied to Carlos&Gen's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
Congratulations on the N-648, they can be very though. If both of your parents have the same tax issue or filed jointly, your dad had bad luck with the adjudicator in my opinion. The adjudicator hesitated, was not sure and did not want to carry the burden of responsablity, he/she could called the supervisor right away but it did not happen, who knows why? -

More than likely the month and day are the same also. right? If you travel frecuently down south, get a passport card, its very convinient to carry and even better get a Global Entry. (I do not if Global Emtry has expedited entry at the border on foot). -

Can you please look at the expiration date of your Green Card and compare it with your driver's license? You may have a still a picture of it. -

I totally agree with you, a Legal Permanent Resident is not temporary and only ends when revoked by a judge but this problem was created some where around 2015 when an expifration date was added to the GREEN CARD, go figures it!!! My green card back in the 80's did not have an expiration date and was not green, it was kind of pink. -

I was not addressing your wife's specific case and I believe it happened as you described, my point is that in the past, even when Real ID popped up but was not enforced in all states as it is after March 2025, the driver's license expiration date WAS NOT married to the expiration date of the temporary or green card, NOW IT IS. All new US citizens should update their new citizen status in their drivers record with their respective driver's license office, it will enable to renew online in many states and extend 10 more years. I propose a survey here about the expiration date of their green card vs driver's license. -

You are right, I misread that part, but the fact is the drivers license expiration date is the expiartion date of your green card if you don't go and update your status in your DL record. Read this: https://www.dps.texas.gov/internetforms/Forms/DL-62.pdf -

The birth certificate does not apply in this topic, the US passport yes, but, if before you become a US Citizen you have a green card that expires in 6 months, then you become a US Citizen and obtain a US Passporth that does not automatically update your driver's license record and your license will expire in 6 months. -

With all due respect, a green card is a legal presence document. -

I don't make the laws, even the LPR is indefinite, its green card is not, it is for 10 years and that expiration date applies as per Real ID rules. -

I was with my wife during the interview last Monday and her picture was taken just before she had to sign twice on the tablet. I asked the adjudicator about the picture policy and she could not give us straight answer but hinted it has to do with how old is the picture taken with biometrics but was not precise with the time. My wife's biometrics are 7 years old, they were taken for removal of conditions. -

I have not seen any differences in 5 states that I know of, the issue is the expiration date. On those states that I know of, the license expires when you green card expires, which most of the time shortens the time span of your license. As a citizen you normally get a 10 year driver's license. -

Our Visa Journey is finally over. My wife passed the interview and the Oath Ceremony is this Friday August 01 2025. She applied with a N-648. No civics test, no English test. I, her husband was accepted as interpreter to answer few questions from the N-400. Oakland Park Fl. Thank you for all your support. -

Good advice has been given on things to do after obtaining the US citizenship by @OldUser and other members. Besides taking care of SSA, US passport, banks, broker aacounts and pension plans, I highly recommend to obtain the Global Entry card, its $120 for 5 years, but beiieve me, its worth every penny. You avoid long waiting hours at POE and mainly do not have to face undesirable interviews. Most people assume this privilege is limited to US citizens, it is also available to LPRs who are Citizens of Argentina, Colombia, Germany, India, Mexico, Panama, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. -

Congratulations!!!, To be honest, I thought you had a very steep hill to climb. I personally know a case where this person had a minor shoplifting charge and had to spend almost 10K with attorneys to obtain a pardon from the state and had 2 USCIS judge hearings, at one point he had a Removal letter. Be glad is over, and be spotless!!! -
