I had my marriage based I485 interview earlier this afternoon in Atlanta. Everyone from the security to the interviewer were super friendly!
I was little concerned as our case was out of box, meaning my husband is self employed and he is on unemployment right now and I have my own startup since I got my EAD.
Also we don’t have many documents together except a car we own and joint taxes.Having said that we have been living together abroad since 2017 and have tons of pictures.
I literally took $60 worth printouts 😂
Now for the interview, as soon as we got in, our interviewer said alright I looked at your file and it’s good so let’s get you out of here quick 😀
And then it’s pretty much I 485 checklist questions and I made some conversation about us and he didn’t even worry about any of that. He only asked few follow up questions on my work out of curiosity and ended up updating self employed on my file and that’s it!Unfortunately he didn’t find my medical and started looking up online and found a packet in Nebraska. He ordered for it and said I’m pretty sure that’s your medical and as soon as it gets here I’ll approve your GC which he said should be in 2 weeks.
If they don't find my medical in that packet from Nebraska I have to submit another medical. But pretty much from my interviewers words my GC is approved🙂I shared my background in case anyone is in similar scenario!🙏🙂
Good luck for everyone who is having their interviews soon😊
Congrats.
We had our interview today as well in Atlanta. However, me and my wife were separated. She just questioned me (the beneficiary) and it was quick. She just asked me security questions and how her and I met and that was it. I check my case online and it says “new card being produced”.- kayden123 and PatSquared

Hey guys
So my fiancé had his K-1 interview originally Sept of 2018 at the Riyadh, Saudi Arabia embassy. We filled out the 5535 form a couple days after the interview & have been in ap ever since. Fast forward to this past Sept, we were asked to submit a re-do of his medical, police clearance & ds-160 and also send in his passport. We did that. Two weeks ago, he had his re-oath at the Jeddah consulate since that is where he resides. We haven’t heard anything yet & are confused because we thought visas get issued a few days after the re-oath. There hasn’t even been an update on ceac since over a month ago. Any idea what could be going on? Thanks in advance.

For those of you who have reached out to your state representatives, how long did it take them to contact you about your case?

Hello, I have a question. I’m looking to reach out to my state representatives about our case, but i’m not sure if I should contact my state senator or house of representative member. Does it make a difference? Thanks in advance.

Lol. Sorry but this case is also an exception. He lived his entire life in saudi and hasnt visited yemen in an eternity.
Logically speaking until the time you see monthly IR numbers start going back to pre ban levels you can assume the ap average is that long. I watch Iran because mrs is iranian. Iran had 30 to 50 spousals. Now its 3 to 5. So every month 25 to 45 are going into ap. Until i see it back at 30 to 50 the average ap clock is ticking.
I am optimistic though that feb and march numbers should be better. On basis of my research before the ban 5535 ap took average of 1 year. Jan numbers come out feb end. And feb march end. If I don't see the numbers climb up significantly by march that means my worst fear is true and the ap backlog starts to get pretty bleak.
My fiancé was born & raised in Saudi. He is Somali, but has never visited also. Would he also be a part of this “exception”? Thanks....

This is such a horrible experience. Feeling really down this week
i’m afraid were gonna be waiting for months & months, not just the regular 60 days.

Were all in the same boat
where in the U.S. do you live?

He was born & raised in KSA. They returned his passport & they gave him a paper talking about his rights in USA & why he was refused. So were waiting now. We all have to be patient in Sha Allah. Is your husband in KSA?

Hey guys we will join in on this thread. My fiancé had his K-1 interview this past monday (9/3) in Riyadh, KSA & was rejected due to presedential proclamation. He is Somali. He was given a paper saying they’re reviewing his eligibility for a waiver. They sent him an email 2 hours later with the form ds-5535 attachted to it. We filled it out & sent it back by email today. We are currently in AP status. Now the new waiting begins. If you guys have any updates please let us know. Thank you.

Looks like it is saying that the Saudi authorities want a letter from the embassy requesting the police record. An individual may not be able to go in and request their own record without there being a need for it.
Right, but were unclear on where to obtain this letter from? Is from the American embassy or the embassy where the beneficiary holds nationality? Thanks for you reply.
