I was refused a DV lottory visa application by a consular officer in Accra, Ghana on the basis of a missing document.
I submitted my University Diploma in Basic Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and my original Secondary School results slip from the West African Examination Council.
The consular officer asked of my original secondary school certificate but not the results slip.
I told her it is not with me here but pleaded with her that, I will bring it the next day.
But She said no. Hence the refusal.
I wrote a letter in a form of appeal two days after the interview to the consular section through mails and post with copies of the required secondary school certificate attached, for them to reconsider my application.
But I have not heard from them.
What should I do?
hmm... this is strange. usually they will give you 221g and ask you to produce the missing document

It has been 8 months now since I attended visa interview at US embassy Accra Ghana and since been in administrative process. The case is with USCIS now for about 4 months now. Do any body knows when this night mare ends
maybe getting your senator or congressman check on it might help! Good luck

Hi All ,
So i just received the ITIN for my wife this afternoon from the IRS.
It was pretty simple and straightforward.
All that i did was to send her original birth certificate and drivers' license from Ghana together with the completed W-7 form.
in all it took about 4 weeks from applying for the ITIN to receipt of the ITIN number
I need assistance filing for the ITIN number for foreign spouse. I read the requirements and they are requiring original or certified copies of supporting documents. My wife is in Ghana and I do not have her original passport. I only have scanned copy. I do have certified copies of our marriage certificate as well as her birth certificate. If I submit these two certified copies and scanned copies of other documents with photo such as passport and police report, will they accept that as evidence? Please has anyone done this without possessing the original passport? I have read the requirements on IRS website but it looks like we wouldn't be able to come up with any other documents on the list.
1- voter id is the old style and no longer used
2- she has been waiting over a year for her drivers license in Ghana - so we don' t have that
3- I don't have possession of her passport nor do I have any faith in her mailing it from Ghana.
You can't even mail Ghana passport.
no courier service will accept it. My wife tried on several occasions but none was prepared to accept it.
easiest way to go is use her original birth certificate and drivers license or voter's ID.

Do you mean she can go to the US Embassy and obtain a notarization of her passport and send that to me? Not the original passport correct? They will look at her document and provide a notarization form of some sort?
This wouldn't owrk. I tried with my wife and the embassy told her they do not notarize foreign passports

It is pathetic! They gave him some sort of receipt with a date on it to go for it but each time he goes there they tell him to come another time with a new date with an absurd excuse that the printers have broken down. I don't get it. Last week my fiancé told me he spoke to a connection man and he was demanding 900ghc. But we haven't decided to use the connection man yet. This is frustrating
I get your frustration and i have been frustrated too. The last time i renewed my passport this same person helped me and it only took 3 days to get so don't know why it is taking that long. I'm tempted to believe the issue with the printers might be true but that's very disappointing.
Once your fiance's information has been entered and processed if your fiance can get anyone at the processing center to facilitate or expedite printing of the book that would be great. 900ghc seems a huge amount for me considering the information has already been put in the system

Hi guys, my Ghanaian fiancé applied for a Ghanaian biometric passport about 7 months ago and up till now he hasn't received it yet. He applied for an expedited one and surprisingly it's not yet in. I thought it was going to take 9 working days. Now I, the petitioner am very worried. Does it take that long? Please help me with any ideas on what I can do. Thanks.
I was in Ghana in December and paid 600ghc through a connection man to get a passport for my wife and daughter. They said it will take 1-2 weeks. I got my wife's own after a month and one week whilst my daughter's has still not been issued. They claim there are issues with network connection between the application centre and processing centre. and also claim the printer has been down for a while. How pathetic!

Oh okay thanks for the clarification

I thought F-1 visa was the student's visa or???? Does NVC handle those visas too?

Before you go all gung ho on getting married and filing a new spousal petition, try to evaluate the reasons for why you were denied and plan how you will overcome those reasons with a spousal petition
EXACTLY!
Did they say why they denied him? You are free to marry and file a cr1 but bear in mind it won't help if you can't over come the reason he was denied, people need to understand when ever you file a petition whether it was 10 years ago or 5 they are in the system forever, so when ever you file for a new or different petition they can see all your old ones and can or may grill you on them and they can even denie for misrepresentation or fraud on past petitions, this post is not to be discouraging but to inform this is a very tough embassy I suggest going through and read past post for marriage petitions here, as for everyone petitioning to bring your loved one I wish you Good luck! ?
You're very right!

What I don't understand is why the exchange of dowry is considered to be a legally binding marriage. No documents were signed, something like that if done in most places would have zero legal recognition unless a government office was involved.
That is our culture! Our parents and grandparents went this route. They didnt sign any papers or do any documentation. Yet they valued and respected their marriages and their marriages lasted long too... Signing documents is just COSMETIC!
Also use a lawyer. Many people of this site are anti lawyer and don't recommend that people use them. We did even though we could have technically done it ourselves. It made things a lot easier.
Some of the lawyers are even more confused than the petitioners/applicants...

Hi guys so I filed for K1 petition for my fiancé and his interview was Feb 1 last Monday. Initially his interview date was March 30 but we worked with the congresswoman in out city to have the date expedited because of medical reasons so we got a date of Feb 1. He was not interviewed when he was called but rather the CO just asked two questions. She had one of our pics in front of her and asked my fiancé who they were and he said his of the family the next question was what did you present at the time of your engagement, and he said drinks money and cloths in our traditional custom. Then the CO said I have bad new for you because in your culture engagement is considered marriage and therefore she denied the petition and gave him a white slip reading 221g and the status on their system states Admin Processing" So the Congresswoman emailed them and asked why they denied the petition and they said because in Ghana, our traditional engagement in marriage therefore the K1 petition is denied and we have to file I130. Money and time wasted and the energy to even ask attorneys about this is just a nightmare. Has anyone gone through this before and how did they proceed?? Please advise
Thanks
Sorry to hear this but i think you shouldn't give up hope. Just file I-130 like all is saying and it would be much easier. Sorry for all the money and energy wasted. Your fiance should have known better!

So similar thing happened to my brother-in-law in 2003. He applied for a B1/B2 visitor visa, got approved and asked to come for his visa after 3 days. On the day of collection they informed him there had been a problem and as a result he has been denied a visa to the US and banned from entering the US indefinitely. what was the problem?
About 5 years before this incident, a former girlfriend of his had applied for the DV lottery and put his name as her husband. She won and processed it but by then my in-law and her weren't together again so my in-law wasn't informed and wasn't involved in the process. This lady managed to include a pastor in Ghana to be in the place of my in-law. meaning the pastor got processed bearing the name, DOB and every other biographic details as my in-law. My in-law didn't know anything about this.
So it was after my in-law's interview the embassy found out that a person bearing the same biographic details was living in the US. to them it didn't sound right.
To sum it, my in-law was informed about the whole issue. He was denied and banned from the U.S. although he didn't have anything to do with it and the Consulate even acknowledged the possibility of him being just a victim of visa fraud.
So what am I trying to say? It is sad this has happened to you but looks like the future regarding your approval looks very gloomy. But hey anything is possible. Lets keep hope alive and keep praying to God for a miracle.
All the best!

hello everyone, please I want to know if you will get automated response after you have sent an email to the email address ivdvaccra@state.gov. This is because my fiancée sent an email to request for my call in letter but didn't get an automated response. Does that mean the email didn't go through.
My fiancée called Nationsl Visa Center and was informed that my call in letter was sent to my email in Ghana in November 6th 2015 but I have still not received anything yet. It's been 2 months now and I can't go to the embassy without the appointment letter because I wouldn't be allowed to enter. My fiancée has sent a couple of email to the embassy but have not gotten any response for almost 4 weeks now so I want to know if the email has not been received by the embassy since she didn't get an automated response! Thank you.
To my mailing address in Ghana not email, sorry for that error
If i remember very well not all times did i receive automated response from IVDVAccra @state.gov. You might wanna wait for a while and see if they will get back to him.
Also remember IVDVAccra.state.gov is only for DV applicants.
Regarding the call-in letter, I think you should just call NVC and ask them to email you a copy of the letter. In that case you wouldn't have to wait for the mailed letter and you can get into the embassy with the emailed one. Remember the Ghana Postal Service is highly inefficient and unreliable.
Hope all work out for you.
Cheers!

I completed high school 2015 tho my result is in my original wasse certificate is not in what should I do incase by March which probably I will be going for interview the original certificate is not still in
The embassies are aware in most times the WASSCE certificates take 2 years before they are released.
Just go with your results slip and a WAEC scratch card to the interview and you will be fine. This shouldn't be anything you should be worried about.
Good Luck!

I suggest the moderators remove this thread. How can you claim an embassy is corrupt without being able to explain why it is corrupt? or you just don't understand the word 'corrupted?
Some of u came to read cos of the heading hoping to find something interesting about corruption. Shame on u
Shame on who? I think you should be ashamed of yourself

So my lawyer says he submitted all the documents needed at nvc last week but when I check the ds260 it is still not filled.isnt he required to fill the ds260 for nvc process to complete. Please help really confused
You really need to take charge and complete this process by yourself. A lawyer can help but the ultimate responsibility should lie on you

Hello everyone, I had my medicals done at Akai and it wasn't a good experience at all.The male nurses are so intimidating and not polite. They lack good customer services and behave as if they are doing you a favor!!!! They just stare at you and put you on ignore until it suites them to call you. Well my experience was terrible and when I finally met the doctor who was a bit old,the first question he asked me was if I could speak English !! I just kept my cool till he was done and I proceed to give a blood sample to the lab technician who was a bit friendly. They gave me two weeks to collect my result and I sat for hours without anyone telling me why I was delayed. Thank God it's finally over and u can't wait to get the interview over and done with.!!!!
Looks like thats how they all act. Several years ago i had my medicals at the Holy Trinity Hospital or whatever it is at North Kaneshie and the same treatment was handed me.
Guess you shouldn't be surprised because one of the main hallmarks of businesses in Ghana is TERRIBLE customer services. they simply don't care about their customers or clients and they always feel like they doing them a favor

They apologised for the long wait at the embassy
The questions were simple
And afterwards the Magic Words came...you are approved please pick your visa up next week
Our God is an awesome God, He is faithful.. sooooo happy to be with my love
Congrats and welcome to AMERICA!!!!
All things work together for good for those who trust in the lord!
ITIN number and required documents
in Tax & Finances During US Immigration
Posted
Sorry to hear that.
I did mine by myself. Got spouse's ITIN after 4 weeks and status on IRS shows return has been received and being processed. I already files amendments to my last 3 year tax returns from single status to married-filing-jointly
