  1. since no one shared their experience, i will share my brother's experience for other. i will give a little insight, i applied for my mother to get green card, she was approved, and travel to US, the first day she landed we filed for my brother through her.

here is the interview questions he was asked.

what is your name and how old are you

    who is Mrs......(my mother)

and who is Mr... (me the bother)

what does your mother do? (answer was unemployed)

than he was giving 221G to submit paper state why my mother did not file taxes, and also they asked him to provide document that he single.

Wow... i mean how can people abuse the system that much? the first day your mom arrives in the US you file for your brother through her? I mean do you think that is right? for a person who hasnt lived here not more than a day nor worked and paid taxes and filing for her son? that's ridiculous!

  2. Kingjulian, I'd like to think you genuinely want to see some "good" news coming out of the US embassy in Accra. So I can understand your interest.

BUT dude, is your petition based on the review people have been sharing on VJ? First of all, how do you even know the evidence people claim they submitted are true? A check on your timeline shows you are yet to have your interview. Why don't you wait and go through the process and then go on with this petition from a personal experience.

Right now, it sounds like your petition is based on people's hearsay. Remember, what people share on VJ is just a tip of the iceberg.

About the content of the petition, it wasn't the best. Remember being issued a US visa is not a right. If you understand how big an issue immigration is in the US, you'd have perhaps considered a different approach.

That said, I understand your frustration... But remember, there's more to the stories we hear here than it is presented. Good luck though!

    Couldn't agree with you more

  3. Hi everyone

I filled and i-130 for my mom and I just received the 1st NOA. I know this takes a while to get approved,( read anywhere from 2-6 months) so whiles I'm waiting, I want to gather all the documents I will need for the next step at NVC. So I need some help with these questions.

    1) wht are all the list of documents I will need to send in to the NVC.( from what I ve read,

    police records,

birth cert of me and mom,

    dad's dead cert.

Is there anything else I'm missing?)

    2) Do I need to send in only the originals of the doc or only certified copies or both. I'm confused because I ve read different things

3)I ve read where u have to submit biographic page of passport, but I dnt have my US passport yet, I used my naturalisation certificate. So do I have to get a passport?

4)my mom is in Ghana, so anybody in Ghana that has gone through this, when is the right time to get the police certificate? If anybody can share light on what they did, I'll appreciate.

    5) will my mom have to fill out any forms or sign anything when we get to NVC? If so will it be OK if she signs and scan it to me to print out here?

I knw this is a lot but I will need some help son i can be prepared when.we get Approved

    God Bless.

    1. Yes you need all the docs you mentioned above

    2. You'll need to send NVC copies of civil documents and original AOS and financial docs

    3. Mom has to send biographic data of passport. I guess with you the naturalization certificate should be fine. maybe a question for NVC

    4. Ghana police cert usually expires after 6 months. you can get the police cert just when you're about to send the docs to NVC but remember by the time of the interview it would have expired and you'll have to get a police certificate. something to keep in mind

    5. there's no doc for your mom to sign for submission to NVC so far as i remember

    Hope this helps.

  4. she works two job as the main issue was that her annual income was $27000 from last year but she had two dependent kids on her tax papers , so with me added to it and her sum a total of 4 household size thats why her requirements seems to have rise.

2 jobs and $27k in annual income.. wow... that must be hard.

Hope you find someone to joint sponsor you. Do you resign yourself to having your AOS denied.

    Good luck!

  5. Every thing was so organized...I must say we spent a lot of time in preparation, doing mock interviews...hubby knew everything on the forms we submitted...including exact dates and all...he know more about me than I know about me...we spend so much quality time together on phone, skype and whatsapps when I am not visiting him in Ghana...we are just shocked about the entire outcome.

We will be together no matter what...even if I have to move to Ghana, nothing will keep us apart that is for sure

Love your spirit. It shall be well with you

  6. No question is a dumb question and you don't know what motivated her to ask this question. This is a regional forum and a very appropriate

place to have cultural discussions. Religion definitely comes into play in immigration. Keep scrolling if you find it not relevant.

    lol....

  7. I am not very religious and specially I am not very familiar with the religions other than my Catholic.

Can somebody explain to me, what is the difference between Christian and Muslim Nigerians and how to identify what religion do they belong?

How can you tell if a Nigerian person is a Christian or Muslim? Clothes? Behavior? ...

    Thank you, Tasha

seriously i think this is a really dumb question.... This is a forum for immigration issues and not religion. you can do a google search to get your answers.

    Thanks

  8. Unfortunately, I thought i had read every thing about the K1 visa on here and never came across the knocking topic, if I did, I would never have made that mistake. It's very ridiculous how they don't even want to use the fact that our families have met each other as a good thing, if anything it should be a good thing to show that it's not a fraudulent relationship... Thank you guys for every advice.

well i guess they didn't say your relationship was a fraudulent one. they only said per the evidence you provided and their understanding of the traditions you are married and as such do not qualify for a K-1 visa. That doesn't mean it was fraudulent. it only means you applied for the wrong type of visa. Like other ppl have said just do a court or church marriage, get the certificate and apply for the appropriate type of visa. Good luck!

  9. After a bit more research, as Eric&tasha said . You can set up an appointment under u.s. Citizens section and click other for the reason on the same day as the interview and then once you enter the building join your fiancé or spouse for the interview however I don't know how a consular may look at the fact that you did all and jumped through their loop hole when they don't really want the petitioners joining in on the interview unless asked . I guess u would have to be very passive in your approach to the counter and have your significant other kindly explain you are here and if needed u could join.

So far as I know if you are visiting the consular section you would not be allowed into the main hall where interviews are conducted

  10. Am a green card holder but my wife (UC) petitioned for my daughter and the i-130 approved. Her number has been forwarded to NVC for visa processing. what are the steps and the necessary documents needed to complete the process without any issue? . i never married to the biological mother but she has given me permission to take my daughter with me. do i need any letter from her? Please, i need a detailed response. Thanks

    This should be your guide

  11. please previous dv winners from Ghana should help me on this. is it compulsory to submit an affidavit of support during your interview? thanks and awaiting your reply

I don't know if it is compulsory or not but 6 years ago when i was processing my DV visa I provided one as well as copies of tax returns from my sponsor. The AOS was collected but the Tax returns were returned to me

  12. "I just started working a full-time job and only have one check stub and my fiancé's interview is approaching before my next payday. I do make enough to support both of us. I also have no tax history since I was a full-time student for a number of years and did not work. So my question is: Am I only needing a co-sponsor for their tax history? I have my own apartment with proof I pay for it and my own car. The co-sponsor will not be providing any support to me or my fiancé."

You will need a co sponsor. Because you need to show a stable income , they usually ask for 3 to 4 yrs tax transcript. So you need a co sponsor and their past 3yrs tax transcript.

In the eyes of the law, the co sponsor form in a binding contract between the government and the sponsor. So whether you will never actually use it , is up to you and the co sponsor.

    Get an employment letter also.

Thought they only ask for tax transcript of the most recent tax year?

  13. Well I can assure you I don't I don't court public for sympathy! I'm sure if you check the stats on visa's from African countries verses the number of visa issuance from non-mena countries it vastly out weighs the balance!

Yes you're right and you and I know there is high number of fraud cases in Africa than the countries

  14. Yes I was there for a month the first time we met and two weeks for the recent trip . There were 3 denials total and nothing else is a red flag . I'm 25 and he is 29 . So the age gap is norm to me and shouldn't be the problem . The forum has denials but not too much detail . Everyone cries about being denied but don't give the specifics like how they may have not known answers to questions or if they had been there before and got denials so I have an idea but then still not sure . Our red flags are little FaceTime and he previous visa application denials . Pretty much it ....

Denial shouldn't be a red flag all the time. Before i got my immigrant visa i had 4 denials in total. One from the US Embassy and 3 from the British High Commission. Even then i had "naively" used a black permanent marker to paint the stamp from the BHC in my passport. But upon all these i still got approved after less than 5 mins interview. The point is situations change over time and the reason for denial some years back might not apply today. The substance of your case at present determines whether you get approved or not.

And like you said the forum has a lot of denials. it makes it look like the embassy is just denying people. But i know so many people getting approved. some with very dubious cases. I think most denials on this forum do not really paint the clear picture as to why they get denied. most people do not disclose the full details of the denials only sharing part of the story that will court public sympathy
