My personal opinion here. When it comes to protect my loved ones, no matter who the person holding the gun against us is (christian, muslim, black, white, man, woman, old, minor, illegal or legal immigrant) I will aim and shoot. Its better to stand and fight for those you love than to see them die because you didnt have a conceal and carry permit.

For those who do not understand why/where the reluctance to excuse a religion from playing a part in the destruction of mankind, I offer you this as a thing to consider.:
"We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unquantified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.
The fact is, that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars world wide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is, that the "peaceful majority" is the "silent majority" and it is cowed and extraneous.
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by the fanatics. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they dont speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awake one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun. Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Bosnians, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others, have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life."

I do not see why everyone gets upset if the authorities want to check out your church or mosque, almost every church I know of is always inviting newcomers to join them. If you get upset because the authorities want to check out your church/mosque teachings and members, then you most likely have something to hide. Every church I have attended has always preached the same material and similar sermons most of which have been based on the Ten Commandments. I believe most Christian denominations have undergone reformation within the last few centuries and perhaps it is time for some other religions to follow suit!

But those Muslims don't just stay in one place. We need to track them down wherever they go.

Hold up did they just say that they show no evidence this woman showed up for her K1 Visa Interview. They show a no show and don't see where she was rescheduled.

Oh Boy can we say a major in house at the embassy scam here. We need to stay on this story cuz the world outside has no idea what this means.
You hear all the time the backroom payoff's and people paying "Extra" to get visas. Oh boy.

My opinion is that ALL visas to the US are going to be more difficult moving forward, especially K1 visa from countries with any Radical Islamic Terrorist connections or activity. I think this is true even if no immigration laws are changed.
Think of the many, many government bureaucrats involved in the visa process. Given the recent mass killings in Paris and San Bernardino, is a government bureaucrat going to be more or less attentive to every detail on the visa application? Are they more likely to get fired for rejecting a visa applicant that should have been admitted, or accepting an applicant that should not have been admitted? How would you like to be in the shoes of any of the bureaucrats that had anything to do with approving Tashfeen Malik's visa?
I think the best case is that visas will take longer to process, and the worst case is that many people who would have received visas before will be rejected with the increased scrutiny.
My wife entered the country on a K1 visa a little over three months ago, and I am very thankful. My heart goes out to the people currently in the process, and the people that start the process in the future. It is frustrating and difficult enough without terrorists making it even more difficult. I wish all the best of luck.

He slipped up. He meant to refer to the K1 visa and it is noted as such in the official transcript:
    http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-obama-visa-waiver-speech-mistake-k1-tashfeen-malik-htmlstory.html
The confusion (and why he probably slipped up) is that they are *also* talking about looking into changes in the visa waiver program. He's probably said and heard "visa waiver program" hundreds of times over the past several days, it just slipped out. It was a big mistake, for sure, but one that most Americans won't realize or understand.
You never know how anything is going to end up. My best guess is that only certain "hotspots" will be immediately affected by this (over the next several months), that USCIS will start taking longer with each file (but not by much) and eventually they'll discuss scrapping the visa altogether. But then they'll realize that they really can't for a variety of reasons. They may make it harder to get (which, honestly....90% approval rate and people have gotten approved having next to nothing in common and having only met once for a few days-- I think most people could stand for the requirements being tightened up significantly and still get through just fine).

I would think that the K1 visa process will not change that much.
When you get the READY at the NVC, you and your fiance have been checked out by the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, and any other department required by the DOS. I am sure the the process has changed over the years since the 9/11 attacks and will keep on changing as needed. I would guess that certain countries and names will be getting additional checks now after the latest shootings.
I have no problem with being check out or my fiance, we have nothing to hide!

I am sure that after what happened on Dec 2nd, immigration is going to get a lot more difficult. You are definitely hearing more about the K1 Visa process in the media after this. The thing I don't like is that we all know what the process is and how difficult it can be, yet media bring their "immigration lawyers" on there to talk about it and the funny thing is - I know more about the K1 Visa process (thanks to Visa Journey and our own journey thru it) than the lawyer they interviewed.

It is a shame that possibly one bad person can make the process more difficult for real, honest and true loving relationships. I know we must be vigilant, but shaming the K1 Visa process just rubs me the wrong way. Just my opinion

Look I understand everyone wants to put their 2 cents in- but how about just live and let live?
SmalltownPA was confused about what the divorce requirement is for filing for removal of conditions. Hopefully now he understands it. By reading his postings you can see he thought to file under "divorce waiver" required them to actually be divorced (finalized) at the time of filing. It does not. He was confused and thought he could have an advantage by not divorcing. At this point many many people explained how he was wrong covering everything from ROC to requirements under the 864 and divorcing even if not an LPR any longer.
People can have varying opinions on whether it was good/moral/sneaky/despicable of him to try to find a way for his wife to not qualify for ROC. But how bout just let it be.
I would encourage him to post back if he has any additional questions and respectably ask for the judgement to stop. Hes not the first nor will he be the last asking about ways to get out of the 864.

    ISSUED!
Since the day after the interview 3 days ago, I've been unable to resist looking at our case on CEAC every few hours. It went from Ready, to Administrative Processing the same day as the interview on the 18th. It was still AP 2 hours ago but now it's changed to ISSUED and I am soooo happy. Thank you God!

Yes, you can submit a petition for an IR2. The child is your immediate relative because you married her father before she was 18. However, since you're not the biological parent of the child, and the child's biological parent is an LPR and not a US citizen, your step-daughter will not automatically become a US citizen when she arrives in the US with her IR2 visa. She'll become an LPR. She'll have to follow the same rules as any other LPR to maintain her residency and not lose her green card.
Your husband can also file a petition, but since he's not a US citizen he would be filing for an F2A visa. Family preference visas have annual numerical limits, and there's a waiting line. Currently, the wait is about 3 years. There is no wait for immediate relatives of US citizens, so it would be much faster if you petition for her than it would be if your husband petitions for her.
How long has your husband been an LPR? If he got his permanent resident status through his marriage to you, then he's eligible to apply for US citizenship three years after becoming an LPR, presuming you're still married at the time. Once he becomes a US citizen then his daughter will become a US citizen automatically when she's been admitted to the US as an immigrant (i.e., she enters with an IR2 visa), and she's in the physical custody of her US citizen biological parent. Once she's a US citizen then there are no rules about maintaining residency - she can leave the US anytime she likes, and return anytime she likes.
Maybe you can file for the IR2 now - it takes a little under a year, usually. Your husband can work on becoming a US citizen as soon as he's eligible. That would probably be the best solution for your situation.

The only things I've heard from my family have been, "be careful"...."He's probably scamming you"...."How do you know he's not a terrorist?"....."He'll force you to convert and abuse you" and "You're out of God's will" (which is the most arrogant thing a person can say. How does anyone know what God's will is for someone else's life?!) My family does want to meet my husband for the same reason you mentioned. They want to grill him. When they start interrogating him, I'm going to put a stop to it.
Since I posted about my younger brother, I've learned more and it looks like my older brother may have also been in on it. Once my husband is here, we're going to write a formal request to the FBI for our records which we have a right to obtain under the Freedom of Information Act. I hope the records might help us to know more.
I have a friend who kept her marriage under wraps from her family until he was with her, then she filled her facebook with photos, including of course her profile and cover pic, That's how the negative family members learned about it. :-P
