Mine was like freaking 4 hours long.

If yours is in the morning, do a heavy breakfast if in the afternoon, eat and come.

Bring someone to take care of kid.  You can bring kid, but if he or she started crying, it is courtesy to take your kind out of the ceremony hall.   Expect anywhere between 2- 4 hrs.

My father has a Citizenship interview in Sept. He lost his expired green card. Only he have a new green card. Will it be any problem in citizenship interview? Do they ask for it?

USCIS  cares about the current GC.  So your father will be fine.  I did not have any green card, just I-551 stamp on passport ( took my 2 year green card during stamping) when I went to N-400 interview and no issues.

I called USCIS and asked for a InfoPass to get a Stamp on my Passport. CSC is now processing Jan 2018 Applications as per the case processing time tool. I haven't gotten a call from USCIS to setup the InfoPass. The customer support representative didn't have much information about the delay. Now I'm guessing It'll be a combo interview with my N400.

There is not consistent policy of I-751 pending and a person apply for N-400, but in my case, when I applied , they approved all cases of I-751 around my number, but not mine and approved both after N-400 interview.  So, it might be the same in your case?  Did you see cases around you are approved?  Did you get any transfer notice?

    Hello VJ member,

I have a one question for my friend, He was on a student visa in Norway but was not detained or arrested for that matter and left Norway voluntarily but got 5 year ban to enter into Norway. He is banned because he worked more than 20 hours in a week.

He came to US through K1 in 2016 and successfully got GC in 2017, Now his ROC paperwork in process  and  he has not disclosed that information to USCIS since he was not detained or arrested and left Norway voluntarily. Do you guys think he will have an issue later when he apply for Naturalization or in process of I751?

Your case is not like the link I shared, but you need to do more research on your case.

    Hello Everyone,

God willing I have my oath taking scheduled after a week. My father is very ill and I am not sure if I should postpone my scheduled ceremony and travel overseas or wait till the ceremony.

I was wondering if I could apply for the passport and get it the same day?

Also, I did a name change. Part of the passport application process is to verify SSN. Even if I have not changed my info yet on the SSN can my passport application still be processed?

Thank you so much for your time!

    Sincerely,

    Sheryn

I agree with JFH.  It would be better to reschedule to Oath ceremony ( since name change issue, may delay the process) and travel using current passport and GC.

    Hey Guys,

I submitted my N400 application (through marriage) a couple days ago. Everything seems to be included but I forgot to include my MC and my wife's birth certificate. Not sure what should I do now.

Does anybody had the same experience?

What is MC?  You wife's birth certificate is  an additional document, not needed, she can take with her during interview and might not ask to see it.

  7. It will be better to follow others of your local office and guess an estimated timeline for your N-400.  N-400 is getting more push recently, so your waiting time will be less and compare to other immigration stages, N-400 is more straight forward and a lot less burden of prove, since they now know everything about you, since you already provided a lot.

    An Update to my case:

    1.       12/2017 - Filed I-751

    2.       02/2019 - Filed N-400

    3.       06/12/2019 – Interview Notice for N-400 (schedule: 07/19/2019)

    4.       06/17/2019 – Sent letter about my pending I-751 and requested for a combo interview

    5.       06/25/2019 - Interview notice for I-751 (acknowledged my letter of request for a combo interview)

    6.       07/19/2019 - Combo Interview.  8:30 am was for I-751, Officer only asked my husband on his birthdate and our address then he let him stay outside the waiting room while I had my testing for the N-400 at 9am.

    7.       08/16/2019 - Oath Ceremony

What a journey it has been!

Thank you to Visa Journey and all the members for all the help!

God Bless and good luck to all!

    Congratulations.  Now passport application.

No. my case is at CSC.

CSC processing time for I-751 is 15 to 20 month.  If you check the USCIS processing time, then select I-751 and then all service centers, you will see  21-36 months and tier 2 officer said that number. It seems , it is  a standard formatted answer.    I think, your I-751 is in NBC and waiting for your N-400 interview and then they will be send to local office together.  What is the approximate timeline of your local office for N-400 interview?

I had mine a couple of days ago, and took updated versions of everything I had originally included in my application: joint bank statements, joint tax return transcripts, anything else joint.

    Also took:

    green card

    my wife

    both our passports

    both our drivers license

    both our birth certificates

    marriage certificate

I think that was about it - they didn’t really look at any of it

Good list to take all those documents as an insurance, but usually, IO checks diver license and GC.

    Did you ask which office?

Hello. Not sure if this happened with anyone else.

Applied for I 751 in March 2017. Applied for N400 March 2018. Passed N400 interview in November 2018. RFE for all marriage evidence docs in Jan 2019. Responded within a week. N400 approved in June 2019. Became citizen in July 2019. No update to I 751, USCIS website shows 'Transferred to Local Office', so still open. Got the US Passport within a day due to travel to Canada. No issues at the border.

I 751 inquiry response was waiting for security checks.

I know you want a clean cut closer of I-751 case, but you are a US citizen  and I-751 approval is not  a matter anymore, they did not bother to update it.  Since it is transferred to local office. IO checked and approved it and then he or she approved your N-400.    Relax.

No messages (text or email), no updates in USCIS Case Status page since my interview 2 days ago.

I'm already reading stories of people waiting for up to 5 months to get an update after the interview and hoping that won't be my case.

Maybe I'm just too anxious. All I have is the paper with my A Number, checked boxes saying that I've passed the interview and that it would be recommended for approval, and the officer's name. Nothing else.

Each case is different.  Did you IO office said that I-751 with him and he will review it?  If that is the case, you will hear good news soon.

I received my oath ceremony letter right after my interview was complete (same day) for August 16, 2019. My online status in myuscis still states: we placed you in line for oath ceremony and will send you a letter with the details. As my ceremony should be in 9 days, should I expect another oath ceremony letter within this time? Is it normal if I do not receive another mail or is this indicating any problem? Your input is very appreciated.

    Thank you.

Go with your current oath letter you received during interview.  You will be fine.  Other letter might have same date and time, just an update in their system.

I had my naturalization interview today. I got a letter stating "A decision cannot yet be made about your application." We moved recently, and our IO had a lot of questions about our physical address and mailing address. We have documentation to clarify our situation which we did not bring to the interview. We have not yet received an RFE, but I want to go ahead and mail the IO our additional documents that can answer his questions. Is this appropriate, or should I just wait for an update on the application or RFE?

Did he say that you will receive an RFE?  If not , it is better to wait.  He might have satisfied  by your explanation and will approve the case after review with his or her supervisor.
