  2. A Portuguese container ship collided with a U.S.-flagged oil tanker while the tanker was anchored in the North Sea, on the eastern coast of England, with both ships catching on fire, according to officials. The U.S. ship was identified as the Stena Immaculate, while the Portuguese-flagged container ship was identified as the Solong. Both ships sustained significant damage and were abandoned by their crews. Thirty-six people between the two ships were safely brought to shore, with one person transported to a hospital, the U.K. coast guard said. One of the Solong's crew members remains missing in the wake of the collision, while the other 13 were brought safely to shore, according to Ernst Russ, the manager of the container vessel. more at https://abcnews.go.com/International/us-flagged-oil-tanker-collides-container-ship-north/story?id=119630008
  3. Since Donald Trump took office, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been on a mission to fight waste, fraud, and abuse in the government. DOGE also has an X account highlighting the actions it is taking to allegedly help taxpayers save money. In late February, DOGE's X account sent out a message reporting it had ended a contract with a San Antonio non-profit called Family Endeavors, claiming that by having HHS terminate the contract, they’d saved taxpayers over $215 million per year. According to the DOGE post, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was paying around $18 million per month to Endeavors to run a facility in Pecos, Texas, that was intended for use housing unaccompanied migrant children. However, at the time, the facility was sitting empty. more at https://www.yahoo.com/news/elon-musk-doge-hhs-ended-140500912.html

  19. Mohammad Sharifullah, who has been connected with the August 2021 Abbey Gate suicide bombing at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, was ordered to be held in custody Wednesday after being extradited to the United States. The attack killed 13 American service members and about 170 Afghans during the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan. Sharifullah appeared at an initial hearing in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, Wednesday afternoon. A formal detention hearing was scheduled for Monday. Wearing a blue jail jumpsuit, Sharifullah was told in court that he'll face a potential life sentence in prison if convicted of conspiracy to provide material support of a foreign terrorist organization. Sharifullah used an interpreter to communicate with the judge. Attorneys argued he has no assets and needs a federal public defender. more at https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mohammad-sharifullah-abbey-gate-afghanistan-bombing-extradited-u-s/
