to qualify for the I-864EZ you must meet the 3 requirements:
Only one person per a petition No joint sponsors All of the required income can be shown on one or more w2s. You do not need to include w2s, just the tax return transcripts will do.
If you meet all 3 then you're fine and yes can use the EZ form. We did and it truly is an easier form.

IR1 by the sound of it as you have been married 2 years. There is the medical and the interview but not something you need to worry about now, that will be some time away.
Otherwise looks pretty straightforward, no need for a co sponsor.

My thoughts, you should not feel weird collecting EI . You paid into the program and it would be available for you if you moved from Alberta to Toronto to be with your husband.

Personal choice...but it is 100% legal..(as long as one has enough qualifying hrs) one does have to be looking for work....One has been paying into it...take the $$ and donate it............
