  1. I will be moving to a new house next month and I'm worried that USCIS won't properly update my address. For people who already have interview dates: did you get electronic notification as well as a paper notice? I want to make sure I don't miss the interview notice after the move!!

I never got the online nottice. It also never updated and I only got my interview nottice by mail.

  2. Just got back from our interview!

We interviewed in Seattle. The whole thing took about half an hour. The man interviewing us was friendly and very thorough. He asked for our passports and another form of photo ID, then went through every single piece of paper in our packet. As he checked our paperwork, he asked for our full names, dates of birth, place of birth, parents' names, and how we met. He also had us describe all of our visits and how our wedding day went. After that, he collected wedding photos, a wedding invitation, the lease on our place, proof of renters insurance, and our joint bank account statement. At the end, he said "well, you guys look like you have a great relationship. A bonafide marriage. I'm happy to say that you'll be approved for a conditional green card! You can expect to receive it within 30 days."

So overall, it was a very thorough interview, but we came prepared and all is well. Good luck to everyone else still waiting, hang in there! :)

Congratulations!! I had no doubt you guys would be fine.

  3. I might be wrong... but i tought the medical is supposed to be within a year at the time of applying... so technically u should be fine unless you didnt send it or they lose it... thats what i think... goodluck with the jobsearch tho

It has to be less than one years old at the time the I-485 is adjudicated. If it's expired by the time you go to your interview, they will most likely ask you to re-do the medical.

  4. We just had the AOS interview earlier... it only last 10 mins. they swore us in and then when thru questions on AOS (criminal records, or any crime yada yada ) then ask for proof of marriage. i had bank joint statements, credit cards, sams club, car register both name, home purchase contract. ask how we met. that was pretty much it... told use she will approve and we will get the GC in 2-4 wks

finally done with this for now until 1year 9 months.... to remove condition,

hope everyone else who filed in FEB get their GC soon!!!!!

Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing your experience.

  5. Thanks guys! Just checked USCIS website again today and it has been updated. Said as of May 23rd they are ready to schedule an interview for me :)

Does anyone know when you should receive your EAD and advance parole? Is it because I received an RFE that I will receive all after our interview? I am itching to work!

That's great, that means that whatever you sent was good, so now you just have to wait for the interview letter.

As you can see from my signature, my AP was approved 8 days after sending my second RFIE response. It was approved in 80 days from when I sent the AOS package, so it doesn't seem to have delayed anything.

Good luck to you and I hope you get it soon.

  6. Hey guys doing my nae nae dance . wanted to let my vj friens know that I'm so super happy!! Just got my I_485 approval letter in mail. So surprised coz I wasn't expecting it. Oh lord !!! Yaaaaay yay whooowoo!!! Glad I ain't gonna go thru interview . So happy !! My status online haven't change since March 8th tho. So weird!!

Good luck to y'all!! Keep praying :)

Congratulations!!! The online status is really wonky I got all my recent letters as surprises.

    Your surprise was great though!

  7. Anyone who had the same experience on this forum post with the same RFE sent their RFE response and have had a response from USCIS??

Just wanting to know how long it took for your approval/response since sending in your RFE response?

I got another RFIE after that, they got the reply on April 20th, and sent me an interview letter dated May 6th.

I think it's dependent on your field office, some are faster than others.

  8. Hi everyone!

I wanted to share my interview experience right after that but I was so upset after interview that I couldn't even turn on my PC...But now this is time to share it...

We went to interview in Omaha office on May 19th. The officer took us to her room and asked us to swear that we will tell the truth. She looked very serious and tough. She asked for our IDs and we handed her our driving licences. ( I and my husband haven't changed our address since we moved in together on Nov 2015). She asked why the addresses are not updated and we explained that we were really busy the whole time. She said but you know that you have to update it.

Then the interview started with these questions:

1- When and where did you meet?

2- Why did you guys marry very fast? what was the rush? ( We met on beginning of Oct and got married on late Jan. we said we were both in our 30s and ready for marriage and we had a lot in common).

3- Where did you get married?

4- (to me:) What is your husband's job?

5- (to me:) When does he go to work?

    6- What is your job?

7- Who pays the bills? (my husband does, because I am unemployed right now)

8- (to me:) What is the biggest bill in your house?

9- (to me:) Does your husband have any loan?

10- (to me:) Who pays your phone bill? (myself)

11- how can you pay that once you are unemployed? (I said I still have money in my saving account, because I had a job before. Also my husband gives me cash from time to time)

12- (to my husband:) What is her phone career? (my husband was not very sure but he answered right)

13- (to my husband:) How much is her phone bill? (my husband's guess was $10-15 more than what it really is)

14- (to me:) what is his phone career?

15- Give me supporting documents. (We had health insurance that he got for me, my car insurance with both of our names on it, costco card, and lots of pictures).

16- You don't have any credit/ debit card together? (we didn't). How about car registration together? (we didn't and we explained why.) Do you use same car insurance provider ? (we didn't because we both receive good discount from the company we have had insurance with for years, so we didn't wanna change). She looked at pictures briefly and didn't ask anything about them.

17- have you ever had any trip together? ( we had one trip together where we stayed in hotel and many trips to my in law's.)

18- (to my husband:) have you ever met her family? (yes. over phone and facebook).

She didn't look \satisfied at the end so we felt really bad. She gave us a paper which explained about two years conditional permanent residency and asked us to sign it and gave us a copy and said have a good day. My husband asked: what is the next step? She said I will review your file to see if everything is complete. If I need more documents, I will send REF.

I and my husband were really upset after interview. We felt that it was not good enough, otherwise she would have approved us on spot. Also the way that she was questioning us made us feel that she cannot believe that it is a real marriage. :(

I was checking my status every half an hour for 4 days, reading over and over about other interview experiences.... today when I checked the mailbox I saw that I received an approval letter.... While my status was not updated yet.... :goofy:

Good luck to everyone who has interview. If you marriage is real, there is NOTHING to be panic about. You may get a nice and friendly officer, but be ready for a though one too. Not all officers are nice and friendly. Good luck to all of you . :)

Thanks for sharing and I'm happy it ended up being approved. Those were some tough questions.

  9. If you have an interview scheduled for AOS does it tell you the date on the USCIS website or do you just get a notice through the mail?

I believe that usually the website shows the date, however I got my interview letter dated May 6, but the online status never updated. There is obviously something going on with the online system.

Well I'm now at day 97 with no EAD/AP card. Both were approved on April 27 but they had issues making my card. Called last Tuesday and was told "10 days tops" to receive the card...now on day 6 of that.

My AP notice says it was approved on April 28 and I also didn't receive anything. Seems something went wrong around that time.

  10. Congrats Heley!

We had our interview today, and he approved us on the spot. He said we should get our green card within 2-4 weeks, but I'm expecting it sooner rather than later. He really wanted to see photos and was happy that the ones we brought were labeled and dated. I was surprised that he didn't ask about a joint bank account or anything--he really stressed that that was more important for the removal of conditions rather than this process. He made some copies of our wedding invitations and I handed over all of our relationship evidence for him to add to the file. Additionally, he said the Chicago lockboxes were created to make it easier on the local offices--contractors at that lockbox compile everything in our file and then send it to the local office to reduce their burden of work. He said removing conditions was a process that was created because people would just get their 10 year green card and then divorce their spouse the next day since they could become a citizen in 5 years without their help. That's awful haha! He said it would be important to include joint assets, bank account, and photo evidence.

Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you guys, but I had no doubts you would be approved.

    What questions did he ask?

  11. Finally got the notice of approval for the AP and card being produced for the EAD - so ecstatic to begin making travel plans to see family we've been waiting on this for so long.

Now onto the next worry: if we are out of town and the mail notice for interview arrives how long before the notice is mailed and the actual interview to take place. Is it usually scheduled atleast a month out? Sooner is better of course but worried it would come and be scheduled next week and we would be out of town.

Has anyone gotten their interview notice in the updates online ? and how far out from notice were you scheduled ?

I also got the letter one month before, no online updates though. Good luck!!!

  12. So I basically freaked out and intercepted my package. I saw people say they got denied when they didn't send a new medical. The officer I spoke to the first time put in a service request for me to say I shouldn't have got that letter because my medical is not expired but at this point I don't want to risk denial. I'm at the medical office waiting for a new medical :( it really sucks. At least they dropped the price since my vaccines are less than 6 months old.

I would have understood if I had a letter saying they don't have it (because they lost it) but they said mine was expired. It's incredibly infuriating. My exam was less than 6 months ago!

Another frustrating thing is that this rfe does not show up on my case tracking. It feels like it doesn't exist in their system. It also means I won't see if they receive my new expensive medical. I'm so anxiety ridden from this entire process. I pray that this medical is the last thing they need from me.

Thanks for checking in though :)

It really is annoying, but at least you'll be less stressed out about what you sent to them.

The USCIS case status website has not been updated in a while. My interview notice says May 6th, but the website still says RFE response received (April 20th). I guess they are super backlogged right now and can't keep up with the updates.
