  1. I’m not sure if this the right place to ask this but one question is does the US embassies in the states allow walk in visits? The second question is if they do, do you guys think that if we would bring a report about our house fire in January in which we lost my wife’s 10 yr green card, would they waive the 500 dollar fee for a replacement? We would love to begin the citizenship process. Thank you so much. This site is so helpful.

  2. My wife’s green card was lost in our recent house fire. I believe we have to file an i 90 form. My question is this. Since she’s eligible to file for citizenship does she still the green card and if so what’s the cost. With everything going on in our lives now we have to deal with this issue. But it’s all good because my wife and son made it out ok. Thank you for the help.

  3. This question is for a friend of our family. My wife friend came from the Philippines and got married this February. She inadvertently waited past the 90 day mark (I don’t know which date they were looking at). I believe they were 10 days late.  My question is are there any legal ways they can rectify this situation without her having to be deported? Thanks in advance.

  4. My wife's 2 yr green card expires 7-7-18.  We filed to remove conditions and sent off our packet 4-22-18.  I know once we file. we will get an extension letter.  I know the timeline for removing conditions is currently running 12-15 months.  My concern is that we have not received a notice of receipt of our packet, nor did USCIS cash our check after a month.  Not sure if I should be concerned?  If we do not get the extension letter prior to the expiration of 7-7-18, will my wife technically be legal to stay here?  Thanks for all the advice given on this site.

  5. Two years ago it took my wife and I 157 days to get NOA2.  It seemed like an eternity, but there were some who had to wait much longer than we did, like 250 + days.  Be thankful its improved greatly since then.  You will get word eventually and when you do, it will seem like it went by in the blink of an eye.  You will definitely appreciate it more when the time comes and the wedding happens.  Good luck to you guys and all others waiting through this process.

  6. I'm readibg President Duterte may require visas from US citizens. I was lucky to get our K1 last year but know of a few people going through the process now. If Duterte gets his wish how will this affect those new applicants? Does Duterte have that kind of power?

  7. My wife received her green card early last week. It expires in 2018. What is the next step? Do we apply for ROC and if so, when? Is the next step the 10-yr green card and if so do we apply for ROC then? Also, do all ROC applicants have to be interviewed? What about applying for citizenship? By the way my wife will be delivering our first child in about a month!! A baby girl!!! Our first child and we are both in our forties!! God is good. Thanks for the help.

  8. Same happened to us. We applied in April of this year. We received noa1 about two weeks after. We had our biometrics done in New Orleans and then tried to track case which was unsuccessful. We tried tracking numerous times. USCIS told me to wait two weeks and try again. I was never successful. On July 12 we got letter from USCIS stating we were approved and to expect the green card in three weeks. We got it 4 days later. We were pleasantly surprised.

  9. My wife received her notification she has application for permanent residency has been approved and her card should arrive within three weeks. We also applied for EAD and permission to travel abroad. Being that she is receiving her green card, does this mean that all of these facets have been approved as well or do we wait for another notification / card to receive? Is the green card an all-in-one deal? Thanks for any advice.

  10. From the time I filled out and sent off the I-129f packet (3-10-15 ) til the time my wife landed in Dallas from the Philippines (11-20-15) was a little over 8 months. We had no RFE's and there was about a 3-week delay for her medical. Back then we were assigned the Texas Service Center which had an extremely long backlog of cases. I believe all new cases are being sent to California Service Center which was taking slightly over 30 days to approve the cases. But it is my understanding that time has increased to nearly 90 days. I would expect at least 6 months for your case, assuming no RFE's or other delays. It may be shorter than that but it pays to be prepared for the long wait. I went pretty quick for TSC because there were some people who had to wait 9 months or longer just for NOA2. This time frame is for the entire process, not just for the i129f- from filing til arrival in states.
